  • Frying french fries and breaded shrimp in the Presto FryDaddy 1 quart, (4 cup) compact deep fryer [model 05420]
    This unit is easy to use but does tend to splatter since you cannot cover while in use. It includes a scoop, handle, and storage cover.
    There are no temperate controls or an on/off switch. To operate plug the unit in to "turn on" and unplug to "turn off". Do not use the storage cover while in use!!
    Also compare to the Ovente Mini Deep Fryer: • Ovente Single Servings...

    Does it produce very much smoke? Can I use it at work without setting off the smoke detector?

      Haven't experienced any smoking, just be sure to use cooking oil with high smoke points such as peanut oil. It does make the usual splatter mess as expected. Will be doing demos on other deep fryers soon with vented covers and temperature controls. Thanks for watching!!

    Does it have a thermostat or is it one temperature

      @msthugmrs Před měsícem

      One temperature...I suggest getting a thermometer. Once temp is at desired temp...let's say 350 degrees drop you product and please don't walk away keep your eye on whatever you're cooking and keep turning it until it's brown like you want it and the internal temperature at least 165 degrees

    Other than it working off of electricity, what are the advantages of using this over just using a pot?

      Good question

      @CounterClutter  Před 4 lety +2

      Good point. Can be stored away for several uses with same oil and also can be used outdoors with an extension cord, but other than that none really. Just personal preference for some folks.

      No real advantage besides automatic temp control. Probably look for the one with a timer if you are interested in this.

      Tee The biggest advantage is that a deep fryer is just that...a DEEP fryer. : ) THe sides of the pot are much higher, so for instance, when you fry chicken, the grease cannot rise up high enough to cause the grease to spill over and cause a fire in your kitchen. It is a deep fryer for that reason. Blessings to you.

      Automatic controlled temp. Essential for frying anything. No fire!

      Sorry I missed this. For the fries I went by the instructions on the package. Don't have that info off the top of my head but the shrimp at the end took approx. 2 to 3 minutes... or until a dark golden brown.

      I've found that being that it cooks quickly...you hv to keep your eye on it and keep turning it. Once it browns, take it out.
