    Also: all the 690 platform models (Duke, Husq, SMCR, etc) benefit *massively* from different gearing (down 10% - try 15/42). You're never going to bother doing 125mph, so just gear it down and suddenly all the ratios work.

    • @marcochavanne
      @marcochavanne Před 4 měsíci

      I saw Lyndon Poskitt Racing has a wide ratio gearbox kit. Offers a lower 1st, same 2nd, and higher 3rd-6th ratios. I suppose if its really an issue it could be remedied without killing offroad capability. Its spendy though...

    ok.. found the switch settings info.
    Ride Modes are also brand new for the 2019 KTM 690 Enduro R and are easily changed with a simple switch on the handlebars. Street Mode enables “sporty” throttle response while limiting rear wheel spin and preventing wheelies, while Offroad Mode produces more measured throttle response, allows slippage & wheel lofting.

    Kinda makes you wish you had spare tanks for the h2 eh chopsy? Kinda wish i had the option for the sx. Just hooks into the panier slots along with the fuel lines that attach when you install them would be grest if the bag locks for the hypothetical tanks would engage when the lock is closed instead of when the bags are simplly put onto the bike.

    The big disadvantage of that "horse saddle" shaped front tank seems to be that getting to the air filter is quite a problem. Second is the price of the kit, if you want to install it on a standard 701: I read about 2000€! So a Ride 6 liter tank will give the bike some extra range without making it wider for much less money, but you need to remove the original air box. Something Husqvarna might not like in case of a warranty claim on the engine!
    I am wondering why Husky had the LR in the program for only one year. Here in Sweden they are all sold out, there are three available in Germany on a big internet platform. Maybe they are working on a 701 Adventure, a LR with a front fairing???

    17:45 it was a 790 Adv R you borrowed and I believe you had standard tubeless tires and damaged the sidewall not pinched an inner tube ;-) Pretty sure those forks have preload adjustment as well. They're the same forks as my Adv R and I can adjust preload but you have to take the weight off the front end to do it - two person job.
    How did you find the 701 compared to the 790 off-road? It was a toss up between the two for me at the time but the 790s engine won.

    HELP PLEASE! Had 2 bikes, Multistrada and SWM RS500, wanted to do road and off road. Decided that wasn’t working, bought an Africa twin 1000, loved it but just a bit to much for the level of off road we do, so swapped it for a Tenere 660 and found it really under powered, and not enough rider aids. I’m considering the 701. Would you say it’s comfy enough long range on road? Still light enough for really technical trails?

  • @johnny_w
    @johnny_w Před 4 lety +1

    That is a really nice bike !
    I like the 25 liters, and the 155 kg dry weight.
    However, the fuel tank at the back seems not very handy when travelling long distance with luggage.
    You will have to remove the luggage every tankstop..... :-(
    I own a KTM 620 EGS-E Adventure model year 1997, bought it new in 1998.
    It has a 28 liter tank in the front, and weight is 166 kg dry.
    500 km range is no problem.
    There is also some shield for wind protection, a plus when driving on motorways.
    That works for me just fine :-)
    Cheers !

    Husky’s are Swedish in origin, which raises the question as to why Husqvarna don’t ditch the WP suspension and fit Ohlins. This would truly set them apart as the premium option, rather than a white KTM. I’ve owned an FE 350 and 2 TE 300’s and despite getting the forks reworked, I was never happy with them.

    Ah... that's why its £900 more, I never checked the specs been eyeing one of these, now I know it's just extra tanks I've lost interest, call me old fashioned but I like a tank to be behind the bars, Ive been wanting an smc since I tested one, but I do not want a rear tank, seems like a stupid idea to me, if it gets punctured when you drop it it could easily be bye bye bikey, personally I'd rather have less range, than a bomb! I'll just have to find an older model smc!

    Is the Husqvarna 701 a reliable bike in the long run? Which one would be more expensive: parts and labor for a Japanese dual sport (or enduro) bike or the Husqvarna 701 enduro?

      The big white pods are actually just plastics over the tank itself. You can see the separate pieces here: www.asphaltandrubber.com/products/husqvarna-701-enduro-additional-fuel-tank-kit/

    Here in the USA, a 700 isn’t enough for the highways, i had the 2018-Husquverna 701-SM, Un corked by Rottweiler Performance, it just wasn’t enjoyable at speeds above 80-mph, here in Miami if your not doing 80+ you will get ran over!! Why my choice is my Ducati-StreetFighter V-4S snd CBR-1000-SP2 !! Gotta have power!!!! I do miss my Husquverna!!! It had an amazing front end feel!!

    The 501 is not a 100kgs. I think it’s about 113kgs dry. Add 2 or 3 kgs for coolant, probably a kg or so for oil, 9 kgs for petrol, you’re probably up around 125kg. I don’t understand why they even give a dry weight? You can’t ride it dry! Then for something like what you’re riding they’ll give a curb weight which makes more sense. So for what you’re riding it’s really not the drastic 55kg difference that it looks like at first glance. More like 30 kg difference, with 193cc bigger motor, more oil, more coolant and double the fuel capacity 🤔

    Bit Pointless unless your going rtw, the seats so bad on my 701sm you can't go more than 150 miles without having to stop and revive your arse so good chance to fill up while your waiting for the feeling to come back
