    My mum is about to be 65. She hasn't touched her face. Yes you can tell she's not in her 20s anymore but she looks gorgeous. She still has skin elasticity, no wrinkles, she's never had acne or major skin problems. Sometimes we need to just wait and see how we look as we get older, so many people actually look better with wrinkles and jowls, aging can make you look kinder and warmer. Looking older is better than looking like an alien. We need to teach ourselves to accept and be ok with ourselves as we change otherwise we will waste our lives being miserable.

    This is how I feel about veneers 😓 praying the trend for perfection ends soon. I really don’t mind plastic surgery(/cosmetic dentistry) but the way people are setting themselves up for failure down the road (or literally after the work is done) is heartbreaking…

    • @Tirelesswarrior
      @Tirelesswarrior Před 3 dny

      What's the danger with veneers for the teeth? Or perhaps I didn't understand you clearly..😅

    • @SabrinaAdelina
      @SabrinaAdelina Před 3 dny +1

      @@Tirelesswarrior if necessary they are great. However to apply veneers the tooth must be filed down to a stump (some types need more or less but it’s serious damage either way). Once you get them, it’s forever. They need to be replaced average once every 10 years, depending on the type. They are sold to people (from sketchy dentists and “veneer techs” that are NOT licensed to touch any teeth) as a cheap alternative to extensive dental work. Or as a easy fix to “ugly” teeth. I don’t feel like people know the true depth of the care involved with getting veneers when they’re being sold on them. In my opinion.

    • @SabrinaAdelina
      @SabrinaAdelina Před 3 dny +1

      @@Tirelesswarrior let me clarify, the “veneer techs” are not licensed. Veneer techs are not a real “tech” of anything, just grifters with a nail drill. The “sketchy dentists” are licensed. By “sketchy dentists” I refer to those who approach a patient with the idea of veneers because they think their smile is ugly basically. I don’t think any medical professional should recommend something cosmetic unless they’re asked, but maybe others disagree.

    • @Tirelesswarrior
      @Tirelesswarrior Před 3 dny

      @SabrinaAdelina Fair enough logic. How about when patients desire them for better looks... genuinely due to indelible stains or for those in show biz or media who need to look almost perfect....there's a lot of research that goes into those modern lumineers, porcelain veneers etc. There are some hustler dentists, but there are genuine cosmetic dental specialists who serve clients that make demands.

    I'm 72 and have been wearing sunscreen since my early 30s. Sunscreen just wasn't a thing when I was a kid growing up at the beach so I had many burns. I'm seeing people young and older who've 'had work done' and it's just not a good look. Not every surgeon is a good surgeon so your one face can indeed be messed up. I'm often mistaken for being in my 50s. Sunscreen works kids, it really does. There's grace in accepting yourself. People notice bad work and it changes how people think about you ie: your reputation can suffer.

      Yes, as a teen in the 80s and early 90s it was still difficult to find sunblock because everyone was still on a tanning kick and there was more tanning oil than sunblock on the shelfs. I was considered odd for wanting to wear it. It finally caught on in the early 2000s.

    My mama was absolutely gorgeous when she was young but she chose to age naturally and she looked her age (due to having very severe rheumatoid arthritis from breast implants in the 70s). When I asked her why she didn’t want a facelift or Botox she would get this satisfied look in her eye and say “Ehhh, I had a good run”. She was just grateful for the beauty that she had in her youth and she enjoyed it while she had it. Nowadays we are shallow, greedy and focus way too much on looks. We want things to last forever but they seldom do. Mom is in Heaven now but I’m glad she taught me to appreciate the blessings and gifts I have while I have them. No one looks hot and sexy at 70, nature just didn’t design things that way. 😂
    Nothing here is meant to last forever.

      You can be doing everything right and look older than you are. Your bone structure will also determine where your wrinkles and remaining facial fat move to. People with narrow jawlines and smaller chins could end up seeing jowls early despite being slim. Also, thin skin can show signs of aging up to a decade earlier than their peers.

    Thank you! I hate thinking of such young women having surgery when it’s really not necessary yet, if ever. I am in my early 40s now, and based on my female relatives, the jowls I’m just starting to get are going to just keep drooping, so I absolutely understand wanting a surgical “fix” at some point. If I can afford it, I’ll probably look more seriously at getting one in about a decade, maybe.
    I think people forget that even minor surgery has so many potential risks! What if something does go wrong? I’ve had to have massive, medically-necessary surgeries (like a thoracic aneurysm repair that was at the “root” of the artery next to my heart.
    I know a facelift, especially the “mini” ones, is a much different type of procedure, but there’s still so many risks. What if you get an infection?
    I feel like people need to really weigh the risks of voluntary medical procedures, as well as the potential benefits. With prescription medications, as well. It’s usually worth the possible risks, but it’s important to understand what they are and how likely it is that they might happen.

      @violetskies14 Před měsícem

      @@Throatzillaaa the relaxing of that muscle can cause jowels if you get it done in your 30s because of the lack of skin elasticity. Your face typically slims down after having Botox for tmj issues because the muscle that causes the issues isn't being worked so much and shrinks and in your 20s the skin will typically shrink back to fit, however in your mid to late 30s it will not due to decline in skin elasticity. Basically if you've been having the injections for a while and have no problems, or are a younger person, don't worry about it.

Have had several coworkers and just people in the wild who thought I was 42 45, etc. Extreme weight loss and fluctuation in weight unfortunately will do that to you. And no skin care In the world can fix laxity.
      I have a consultation set for July with Dr Randall Haworth and I'm so excited. I just want to feel my age again. Literally that's it. I want to be able to date. Without guys thinking I'm a cougar hitting on them, which they do! Do what's best for you and your spirit. And you will always age better and look younger than your age if you hike it up with a facelift. I think for most people the ideal time is mid to late 40s.

    My sister got a "mini" face-lift at 38 this year. I wanted to cry when I saw her because it doesn't look natural 😢. Of course, I didn't tell her that.... and I think she's happy with it, which is what matters.

      Sorry to hear that. I can imagine how you might feel. People develop insecurity over one thing they spot on their face or body and they aim to sort that one thing out. They see jowls or hooded lids and obsess over it. Once they get rid of it, they are happy, since they are not focusing on whole picture, which might not be flattering at all after surgery. Until they notice something else they obsess over, while not noticing elephant in the living room. That's the nature of the beast. Most people don't see themselves as others do. I'm yet to see a person with upper blepharoplasty who looks good in a sense of maintaining their natural look and authentic beauty. They usually look surprised, 'done', 'overdone' and like any other person, not like themselves.

      @@blueice011I’ve seen many, many good upper bleph procedures! You probably have too but you don’t recognize them because they’re done subtly. The surgeon who did my septo-rhinoplasty years ago is very conservative and achieves natural looking results. I wish she had trimmed a teensy bit more off my tip but I’m happy and wouldn’t undergo a revision. It’s ’my’ nose! lol

    My gf is 60 and she was getting a Morpheus treatment at the office of a well known celebrity rhinoplasty surgeon in LA. She mentioned to the nurse that she wanted to get a facelift and the nurse’s facial expression told us everything we needed to know. She looked horrified and disgusted and said no, you don’t want to do that. She would know because she probably works on a lot of facelift patients. Apparently it really disturbs the lymphatic system and she mentioned a few other issues but I can’t remember. I think a facelift is best for people whose faces are in really bad shape with very advanced aging. Then there’s nowhere to go but up. But if your face is in fairly good shape and you have taken care of it, you risk wrecking it.

    I don’t get the obsession with 30 like . Why do ppl go bonkers when they touch 30. 30 IS NOT OLD. Hell even 60,70,80,90 is not old . It’s how you feel about yourself and how confident you are in yourself . I’m 31 and have never felt younger .

      I am turning 30 in a few months and in my head I am still a teen. I don't understand why people make it sound so old when you have 30? Maybe because before people had much shorter lifespan so it remained in our culture? I AM NOT OLD! I AM VERY YOUNG!

      Not to victimize womanhood but I honestly feel like it mostly stems from women being told their value decreases once they turn thirty or "hit the wall" as some men like to put it. Notice how the obsession with turning thirty isn't really a thing with men, they're perceived exactly the same at 25, 30, 45 etc Their worth is never linked to their age or looks.
