  • POV and off ride footage of the Log Flume at Blackpool Pleasure Beach. Filmed on the last day of its operation in 2006. Long before Go Pro, this was filmed on a camcorder wrapped in cling-film! lol

    Amazing to think at one point log flumes were a staple of British theme parks and now they’re a dying breed.

      I like a flume /rapids as much as any coaster. And yes, so think we lost this, Alton's flume, and Thorpe's Logger's Leap. :-(

      That's right, places just weren't a theme park unless they had a log flume with the park name engraved on each log boat!

      At places like Alton Towers or BPB, you would *expect* there to be at least one! Thorpe Park however is another matter.

    When this log flume opened originally in 1967, it must have been *revolutionary!* Seemed to have suffered over the years through poor maintenance as showed here. Still sad that why log flumes cannot be more found in the UK, especially with the removal of Thorpe Park's "Logger's Leap". I get that people love coasters but log flumes are still generally the crowd-pleasers (appealing to all ages). See Orlando for details.

    What i liked about this ride was that you were high up on concrete supports and the log flume track was actually over a pool of water the entire time, so when you looked over the edge there was a large drop into what looked like deep water. They should have refurbished this ride and kept it going. Blackpool had always had a tradition of having vintage rides but more recently they have been removing these older classic rides and IMO spoiling the heritage of the park. Grand Prix is the latest casualty. Its only a matter of time before they tear down one of the classic coasters, you watch. Alton did the same removing their log flume which i also used to enjoy. Not thrill rides like coasters but log flumes are nice to take a short break from all the noise and hustle and bustle and all of the family can enjoy them.

    • @ukridesinfo
      @ukridesinfo  Před měsícem

      Blackpool have always taken out thier classics! Reel, Mouse, Whip, Turtle Chase, Water Chute, Flume etc I enjoy a flume or rapids as much as a coaster, especially a scenic ride.
      I don't see why Infusion couldn;t have sat on higher footers, retaining the flume and Tom Sawyer ride underneath! lol

    My uncle only agreed to come on this with me when I was a boy on the condition I sat in front. As we came down the final drop he was laughing to my dad behind him that I was going to get drenched. He didn't consider that my dad and I had been on the ride many more times than him, so I knew just when the water would hit, and I was wee enough to duck down the front of the log boat. The splashing wave went over me, missing me, and he got it smack in the face!
