I got 29x,xxx km on mine and after 6 months of standing over winter, it fires up like i parked it couple hours ago. Love it every time.
This was so pure and old-school I could feel the car through the video. That raw power and torque, that cluncky short gearbox, the sound...just awesome, this really is a great car!

When I saw the title I expected the car to be awesome, but not THIS awesome. This is an amazing car, that sound, and the power, you can feel it all through this video. And looking at the steering and shifting and handling on the road, it all looks so solid. You're lucky to have driven it. And much respect to the owner, may he forever take good care of this beautifull M5!

And the supercharger isn't as noisy as a toy car.
Yes the advantage of a centrifugal supercharger it isn’t as noisy as the twin screw or roots type with the whine.

That supercharged in aluminium or something its beautiful, gorgeous, i dont have words....its amazing, also the car...
Never driven an E39 M5, I'm surprised how close the ratios in the gear box seem to be. Many semi-old german performance cars have looong gears. Very cool car. And definitely keep it manual.
High ratio gearboxes are great for high speed cruising, after all you should be able to do 200 km/h quietly and comfortably for a few hours at a time...
Short gear ratios because the car is so fast, it just eats through them .

Drive through Germany, and you want a comfortable car, that will do those 200 km/h for hours. That's why old inline six Diesels with a big tank are so... attractive!
You can get an e34 525rds with an M5 tank and that additional 10l from Alpina in Buchloe. You'll do 1700km easyly at 130 km/h or you can go 700km at 200 km/h.
Def go cvt for best gas mileage.
I remember the owner saying changing the differential, not sure what ratios.

300 km/h on the Autobahn in an 600hp m5 with the dsc off and on semi slicks in the wet in the evening....man you're a legend.
