The Greatest Storage That’s Ever Lived?

- With the latest technology and up to 96TB of storage, this impressive piece of tech has earned my approval! I actually replaced my old NAS with this, and that's not something I take lightly. The responsiveness and ease of use of this one is so much better. You can even hook it up to a TV and play files directly off the NAS through HDMI. Ugreen is really stepping up their game when it comes to hardware!

It’s the greatest po- homework collection that’s ever lived.
It's like 2 assessment files 😂😂
Yeah - because if you are under the impression that that's a euphemism for "4K porn folder", well, lemme tell you, it would be a HELLUVA lot bigger than 400gb...
...as someone who backs up their DVD collection, a single 720p-equivalent movie-length file can be 500-700mb in size, with 1080p at 1.5-2gb for a two hours video - and that's WITH a good codec compression (a RAW file is WAY bigger).

Ugreen products has been pretty solid.
so were Anker’s until they got into the internet connected device space, and we found out about security issues, I’m not saying they are bad, they still haven’t done anything to break our trust, i’m just not keeping my hopes up
Synology and QNAP are pretty well known and well established, with Synology's software being one of the best. The prices for the entry level UGreen models are close to the 2 brands as well. Hard to justify using Ugreen NAS unless it has been thoroughly tested. Have been using ugreen cables and chargers myself but a whole NAS system is something I wouldn't fully trust with my data without knowing all the limitations.
Plus, UGREEN is a Chinese (the red one) company.
I ve a ds1812+ synology 12-15 yrs old and going strong :)
if I want an alternative to those two I would buy a way cheaper option or build one, a pi 5 and some obscure NAS enclosure would do the trick
@@LPvi1not everyone can do that
@@felisalpha1534what other Chinese colors are there?
These guys have been sponsoring EVERY tech youtuber with this thing recently
they have to to try and sell them... the cost is f ing crazy
@@Derek9598416?
@@Derek9598 The base model 4 drive n100 cost is ok, its the higher models where the cost simply does not match up with the capability. Notice how hard it is to even find the CPU specs, totally not listed on their higher models. The 4 drive n100 is comparable to a self build but the 6 or 8 drive model is way too expensive. Also, i am betting the n100 model has limited m.2 connectivity (think x1 speed on m.2) as the n100 has only 9 PCIe lanes.
I was interested on 4bay one but n100 kill my interest. I'll probably build a small pc with the cost and reuse my old 8700 non k. Just need a mini itx mobo.
How else do you trick people into trusting a non-reputable brand? You get people to shill
My OLD HOMEWORK collection isn't nearly as extensive as yours but I still want to preserve it!
Mine is more family friendly btw, its game mods with extra assets while playing MoW:AS2 (ww3, red rising, or star wars themed). Not to mention realism texture for other titles.
UGREEN just giving these out to every tech youtuber.
And it worked. Their $20k Kickstarter just raised almost $5 mil. Call me crazy, but paying $400 for some product you'll probably never receive because some CZcamsrs shilled for a free one seems like a dumb idea.

I've been looking at getting a NAS. Good timing.
I wouldn’t necessarily trust a NAS from China
@@Shobs1 What would you recommend
Go watch review of this nas from another CZcams channel hardware and build quality + upgradable ram on this nas is great but where it lets you down is in terms of software. It's kinda not there yet. They managed to install different OS on this nas which was tricky but worked great in the end. As for other NAS brands I would recommend Synology or asustor as they have great software with a lot of community support.
Set it up yourself with some cheap sata hdd and a rapberry pi@@user-in1gv1uh2v

If I didn't like it I would send it back and not do a review, I've had to decline so many sponsorships because the product wasn't good. So if it's made it this far it's something I'd stand behind. I'm planning on doing a long form review in a few weeks, but I've been using it for almost a month now with no major issues.

that intro was wild
“And 10 minutes later it’s ready to be named” hits different when you consider the sub context of the line before it
Please don’t buy a NAS made by a Chinese brand that makes power bricks. Actually - that’s unfair, buy one if it’s cheap, but please don’t run their OS on it. Install a reputable NAS OS.
That's the big problem with this thing. They say if you install a 3rd party OS you void the warranty. It's been a topic of debate surrounding this product, but he conveniently left that part out so he could sell you shit
Luck you, I’ll get mine in June.
That’s some nice pre-cloud era tech right there 👌🏻
Nice. Saw ZTT do a Short on this as well. Very pog even tho I'm broke and can't afford it :3

Early, keep up the good work!!!
This is perfect for storing all my hd/4k cornwork collection for the next 10 years.
I'm currently screaming at an old TeraStation, and have been agonizing over a replacement. So, this was just the push and recommendation I needed to make a move on a new box for me to comfortably slide into.
Finally! A device that can store all of my 8k pokemon por- playthrough videos!
Woah! You could download a whole Call of Duty update with that bad boy! Maybe 2!
It worries me not having redundancy and ECC ram so I did go the route of building my own homelab NAS. I have 12hdds and RAID-10 up to 4 drives could theoretically fail before losing data and then the error-checking ram is peace of mind + dual-xeon CPUs. I have Plex on it and the whole computer never exceeds about 5% utilization with four streams. A regular NAS is quite easy but I think I'd almost rather just have a JBOD enclosure than a NAS
96tera bytes is crazy
