WHAT BRIAN SAID. Their live performances are even better - the energy, the crowd participation; and they really really use tracks well; subtly, unobtrusively, in a way to make that fat sound without minimizing the live performance. And everybody singing along with the oh-oh-ohs at the end? OH YES.

Saw The Warning in Atlanta at The Masquerade in May. So glad this band exists. As a 56 year old, I'm losing my music heroes like Eddie Van Halen, Neil Peart, and others. So glad to have a band that is so talented and write amazing songs. It gives me hope for the future of rock. Of course, there are many other bands that are great, but I really have the upmost respect for The Warning.

Certainly their most epic music video to date. They've only done a few: Enter Sandman (Metallica Blacklist version), Disciple, Evolve, Choke, and XXI Century Blood. Not counting Error or Money as they are mostly performance videos and Animosity is a animation. The one you haven't reacted to on that list, XXI Century Blood, is probably #2 in epicness. It's the title track from their debut album and the video itself won some awards.

As Sharlene said not all band members enjoy being in the spotlight so much. Ale' , the bassist, is amazing on stage but does not care to be highlighted by singing lead (this is why you do not see her sing lead often). She, and Paulina on drums, have stepped up and taken over singing lead on a number of occasions though when Dany' voice was giving out. Ale' has taken over mid-song for Dany in a few concerts and has sung lead as planned in other performances. In one concert mid-show they decided to have Paulina sing lead on a song written for Dany to sing and she was perfect- even though it had a difficult drum line throughout. Thus is the power of The Warning that at any time any one of the ladies can take over singing lead without any real drop-off in quality!

Such an epic video (and song). One of those videos where there is a symbiosis, the video strengthens the song and vice versa. You just expect you're going to be amazed. I think it helps immensely that Rudy their manager worked in the film industry before working with The Warning, their videos are always unique. (I watched a bunch of videos from top alternative bands of the 90s the other week and was so embarrassed for them, the videos were beyond stupid and gimmicky. Not all but very many.) The Warning are definitely to be taken seriously.

Funny Story: You mentioned about hating the wind... reiterating what a few others mentioned, said wind ripped the tarp to shreds on the makeshift tent, and Pau mentioned (I think on IG), that she got slapped in the face multiple times with it while they were trying to film this. I really hope they saved some of those shots for a 'Warning Funny Moments' compilation in the future.😂 Aside from that, this would make for a big stadium 'rock anthem' in any language!🤘😎🤘 *EDIT:* Dany has a pretty complex guitar setup to get that BIG sound. She currently runs it through a Line 6 pedal and it splits it to stereo and a bit of delay on one channel to make it sound like more than one guitar, and then to an Orange stack which is mic'd. I THINK there is an extra power amp for the second channel, but someone else may know more about that. They do use backing tracks for some other background sound effects and sometimes a piano or other keyboard part which they play beforehand and Pau syncs it in her laptop with Ableton Live. They do play with a click track and InEarz monitors, but it's mainly to get everything started on the same beat. Their timing is phenomenal even without it.😉They use ALL the resources available to them to get the best sound possible for a 3 piece, and Dany's playing style covers both lead and rhythm, and the occasion lead breakout with a rhythm backing track to fill it out. They're no slouches in the tech department, for sure.😄👍 One thing they *don't* need is auto-tune for the vocals. Those sibling harmonies are magical! If you watch their first live performance of 'Revenant' at Teatro Metropolitan in Mexico City, you'll see what I'm talking about!😍

    • @mjc1389
      @mjc1389 Před rokem +1

You must have watched the same thing I did about Dany’s pedal board. It is fascinating what she can do with this newer setup.
Did you watch Pau’s masterclass at the Soundcheck Xpo last year? Both videos absolutely confirm your statement about how tech savvy these young women are.
I’ve seen other videos with Dany or Pau or both where they discuss how hard they work to limit the amount of backing tracks in their live performances.
I want the studio version and music video to be adequately produced and polished but the song needs to be good enough by its own merits to be played live without sounding like a cheap copy.
That’s what The Warning are so good at, writing songs that sound good on the album but also sound good live without 1/2 the song being tracked in.

First, to give my fellow U.S. fans some credit, whenever The Warning plays this live during their headlining shows in my country, fans are very accepting and enthusiastic. Those of us who have zero (or at least limited) Spanish do our best to sing along.
With that said, I was fortunate to be in Mexico City last week to see a 2-night run with over 3,000 Spanish-speakers per show…and that was absolutely extraordinary. My soul was buzzing for days. See The Warning live, wherever and whenever you can…but if you can find the time and $ to see them in their home country, just do it. You won’t be sorry.

*Backstory:* This was their second Spanish song The Warning so far wrote. Their first was *Narcisista.* A song about a response to the Mexican critics who called The Warning sellouts & they hated being Mexicans.
After *Narcisista* was released in 2018, The Warning debuted *Martirio* live during their November Argentina 2019 tour. Some immediately liked it. Some like me took time for it to grow. The studio version was recorded in 2021.
Their current live version of *Martirio* sounds incredible. Especially when the audience sings it back to Dany. And yes. Dany can sing & hold those high parts live.
Will give links to two live versions. Both fan made video but still good.

They have the best Music Video's out right now and its really sad that the Music Industry wont acknowledge The Warning , they get almost zero radio play in the US as well , "Its a long Way to the Top if you want to Rock and Roll " said a true Rock Band back in the day 🤘🤘🤘

I was thinking, Dany's voice is awesome, then I noticed Ale's baseline thundering, and Pau's drums just hammering. Toward the end I focus on the guitar and she is just killing it. Final analysis, this song is amazing.

    Martirio
    English translation
    *Martyrdom = Pain - Torment - Suffering
    * Even though the Spanish word martirio literally translates to the English word martyrdom, the English word martyrdom has a different meaning than the Spanish word martirio. The Spanish word martirio just means pain, torment, and suffering. It is not associated with 'suffering for a noble cause' the way it is in the English language.
    Lyrics-
    Sometimes the obvious things
are the most difficult to see
You choked with your own hands
    When everything points that
    finally someone will rescue you
    You find yourself abandoned again
Drown yourself in your painful suffering torment
    It's your destiny, give in
You try to find an explanation in
    the deepest of your being
And you fall into the void again
At last you realize in secret
    that the pain will stay
Will be your new life of suffering torment
There's no turning back, you can't
escape from the fire at your feet
And in the darkness, you'll get lost
Drown yourself in your painful suffering torment
    It's your destiny, give in
    (guitar solo)
    Sometimes the obvious things
are the most difficult to see
    (walk down bass line)
Drown yourself in your painful suffering torment
    It's your destiny, give in
Learn from the ones who suffered
If you have to live in fear, it's best to
die at the hands of a goodbye
To your sad life, foolish martyr,
    say goodbye
Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh
    Whoa Ah
    (guitar solo)
Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh

I see this reaction was done Sept. 6, 2022, just after they played the 2 sold out Teatro Met. CDMX concerts. Have you had a chance to listen to the pro audio/video of Martirio? Curious how you thought Dany did with the layers of guitar pieces. You were curious how she was going to do it LIVE. And Dany's last vocal belt, OMG, the grit and gravel in her voice is astounding!

They really are great and indeed they have to be taken seriously. All the instrument parts are written and played very well. They (have to) use backing tracks when they are playing live. In some songs this is more obvious, for example if you watch the live version of 'Survive,' you will hear that there is a silent electric guitar and piano playing at the last (jamming) part of the song. But these backing tracks are also created by them, so personally I don't find it disturbing or ethically wrong.

Their other spanish song is Narcisista. They were being criticized by their ccritics were being cultural traitors for only singing in english. They wrote the song to be a polite FU to their critics. Even the though it is polite, it is aggressive. Pau is the lead for the song.

I am a little late to your reactions as there are soo many of you guys out there. In fact I bet they are quickly becoming the most reacted to band on the planet which makes sense being they are the best rock band on the planet. Having said all that, after 7 reactions, you have become my favorite reaction channel! You cover them well and give ALL the credit they deserve. Sometimes you even point out things I had not noticed. I too love this song. Have no clue what they are singing but it doesn't matter, they are that good. Yes I have read the lyrics but they do not rhyme so it's hard to match the two. This isn't my favorite but I can see your enthusiasm increase with each listening. Although, I have to point out that the degree between my least favorite (there are none I don't like) and my favorite (Evolve) is so tiny it isn't worth measuring. Love this band and love your reactions!. I was looking through your playlist and did not see a reaction to Breathe. I suggest checking this one out. It's the most emotional song I have heard and done by Pau is so awesome due to her ability to "cry" sing and then of course the real tears do roll with her and many listening including myself. React to this one and I bet at least one of you do too. I believe I heard or read somewhere that this is the only time she performs this live and listen to that crowd! Enjoy! Okay, back to your reactions!
