Outstanding video and music. Thank you for sharing
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it!
Very beautiful! I’m content to enjoy this route vicariously. There are sketches of this road that are very stretchy, for those of us who are acrophobic. Thanks for creating and posting this video.
It can get a little sketchy for sure, glad you enjoyed the virtual drive!
77 days and counting. Can't wait to get there. So beautiful. !!!
Fall is such a great time of year to visit!
@@exploreestes I would like to see the area when the aspen are turning color and the elk running through town .
I can remember mom and dad taking my brother and myself out to Seattle Washington when I was a kid and we could see the Rockie mountains and we drove for almost 2 days before we got to them. It was the first week in July when we left. Well we finally got to the pass to go over and it was kind of scary pass we took. Well when we got to the top we stopped and got out. My brother and I had a snow ball fight in nothing but shorts and tennis shoes. It was like in the 70s that day. I remember there was a place called the hidden lakes. We didn’t go to them but I remember the sign for some strange reason. It was an awesome trip. I was fortunate to have parents that love to take trips every year and in summer we went camping every weekend. I had an adventurous childhood. I’ve been all over the west and south and close to the east. I think one day now that I am semi retired I may have to take a trip up to the northeast.
Sounds like a wonderful memory!
I think Elk Jam could be the name of a 3 day summer music festival in Estes Park!
We actually have a free 3 day festival in the fall called Elk Fest with lots of vendors and music! Elk Jam does sound cool too though haha
A fraction of the snow that's left in Yosemite National Park. It's crazy what 300%-400% more than the average snowpack and water content will do in the Southern Sierra Nevada!
We still have lots of snow on the trailheads, and we just got some more in the high alpine peaks. Spring is lasting a long time this year for us!
How scary is this compared to pikes peak? Will never drive that again.
We've never been to Pikes Peak so not sure how it compares. Although Pikes Peak takes you to higher elevations so that may be scarier haha
I was driving on Trail Ridge Road on Memorial Day weekend right after it opened during a surprise blizzard. I had a 6 - 8 inch tunnel of snow on my windshield. It was one of the scariest experiences of my life.
In my opinion, the only thing Trail Ridge Road and the road to Pike’s Peak have in common are they are in Colorado. TRR is a long, drawn out mystical journey, especially when you arrive at the beginning at sunrise. We’ve done it twice and I would do it 10 more times in a heartbeat. Pike’s Peak was a drive where I missed all of the scenery making sure I didn’t drive off the side or overheat my brakes. It was nice at the top, but a totally different experience
Great video. We are planning a trip there in about 2 weeks. Question- will any part of Trail Ridge road need lower gear for engine braking downhill or D is just fine ?
There are signs posted in the areas with steeper grades where they recommend lower gears to save your breaks.
The staircase to Heaven wasn’t dug out to get up to 12,000 feet yet at the visitors center? LOL
How’s the weather up there late october? Going on Oct. 26th, would like to visit.
Trail Ridge Road typically closes the first or second week of October, depending on conditions. I would expect it to already be closed by the 26th of October.
Trying to decide just how scary this might be for us. We have a rental car choice of a Nissan Altima or a Chevy Tahoe, any thoughts ? June 12th is our target date.
If you’re not used to driving on curvy mountain roads with drop-offs, the smaller vehicle will probably make handling feel better then a wider vehicle.
