Crazy to think these 2 teams would’ve been playing each other in the National championship game instead of the rose bowl if each team would’ve won there last game of the season!
Besides the championship year they couldn’t help but lose at least 1 game every year to a mediocre team no matter how great they were. Which kept putting them in the Rose Bowl. So many pros on the field. USC Linebackers had literally 3 NFL guys. Michigan had a ton of talent as well. Michigan's D played well. USC finally made enough plays to win. It literally felt like watching an NFL game.
The offense approach of Michigan in this game is so frustrating to say the least. I hope Jim Harbaugh comes up with more aggressive approach this time around. Go blue!
@@NorthOfWindsor So you're saying Ohio State and Michigan should have played in the Sugar Bowl? ... Maybe so, maybe Florida and USC should have played in Glendale for the Natty. Maybe you're right.
This was a very good Michigan team. So much so that it was the ONLY Michigan team during Carroll's peak years at USC whose talent we could reasonably call "comparable" to USC's. But USC had the craftier coaching staff. Superior offensive game planning (never a strength under Carr) and better qb play really made the difference in the second half. Good game. Michigans defense finally wore down. USCs defense was loaded. Both teams had pros everywhere. 3-3 game midway thru the 3rd quarter. 19-11 with 12 minutes to go.
This was the year the media was hyping up a possible BCS NC game rematch between OSU and Michigan as OSU was undefeated in the regular season and Michigan's only loss was to them by 3 points. Pathetic game plan from Carr….he has Manningham, Arrington and Breaston but he keeps it on the ground even when that plan isn’t working. No defensive sacks from Michigan? Pathetic. Michigan fan here.
I hate to bring this up, but I remember Rose Bowls going back to the 1970's. And it seems that whenever Ohio State or Michigan played in one (and they usually did,) they lost. If I were those two schools, I would quit the Big 10, join another conference, and play in a different bowl.
Have USC play at Michigan every year and see what happens. They get a home game every time this Rose Bowl is played and it’s BS. The game should be played in Kansas City or even Denver

Bro, it’s basically a home game for USC. Why do y’all always leave that out? What advantages does the Big Ten have any in big bowl games? They’re all in the south or out west. At a disadvantage. Not making excuses but damn.
Interestingly the computer polls had Michigan as the #2 team in the nation. The SEC homers didn't want the rematch because one had when their conference (I did agree with them that conference champs should only be invited). Plus, Florida was knocking on the door for the natty game. Sound familiar? It should because the exact same thing happened between Bama and LSU.
