Such a great sewing tip. I fear gone are the days when appliances last a lifetime. Thank you for sharing such beautiful makes xx
Hello Judi it is so lovely watching you on your channel everything you do is so beautifully explained. I love your fabric choice in all your projects and I love the fact you take your time making something so beautiful. Judi you are one calm sewer and it shows on your finished garments. Well done you XXX and thank you for sharing XXX
hi Judi Thank you for your great sewing tips. They are always so great to learn - thank you so much for sharing them with us x
Lots of lovely plans Judi, can’t wait to see them made up. I’ve just finished a Burda blouse for my Daughter and tomorrow I’m going to cut out my Fleur blouse, I’m very excited as it looks beautiful when it’s made up. ❤
I want mine to rush to the top of my list of plans but with the reveal dates for sew fruity and sew seven together looming I must stay focussed. I have a plan for the fleur but my lips are excitedly sealed !!!!
@@runningsewandsew ooh can’t wait to see your Fleur, I can feel it’s going to be amazing 🤩
Another fan of tacking here. When I started sewing again after many years I wondered why the finish was not as good. I realised when I watched Karina @Lifting Pins and Needles that I had forgotten about tacking. Everyone seems to use pins only now but, although it takes a bit longer, I think you get a much better result if you tack.
Thank you for your tacking love. I do try and show the positive side of tacking as I know everyone seems pushed for time these days, but it can avoid the needs to unpick as well as, with the pockets, ensure they sit correctly x
Thanks for sharing Judi 💙🧶🌈🍓
Love watching your fantastic tips,I will be trying that rolling and tacking method 😊
I can hear my sewing teacher now "pin, tack, machine" and then she would inspect every step before I was allowed to move on! I have to admit I don't always tack, but darts, tucks and pleats I find more successful if I tack them! But, I do understitch, and so far haven't had a seam rolling back, maybe I've been lucky!!! Thanks for your chatty vlog, you always make me smile! 🐾🐾
Oh dear did I sound like your sewing teacher! I think I’m a one woman tacking promoter x
@@runningsewandsew not at all, sadly she was a witch queen from hell, put me off sewing for years! You are so helpful and friendly you couldn’t be more different to her if you tried! 🐾🐾
So glad you have found a good iron, they are so important to use one we are happy with for our sewing projects. I’ve had a few irons over the years (I’m married 57yrs). The iron I’m using at the moment s a Kambrook which is an Australian make. I bought it 26 years ago when I was making my daughters brides dress + the bridesmaids dresses. It was very inexpensive when I bought it and to be honest I don’t know if the company is still in business. It is still used every few days and steams beautifully. Happy sewing 🧵🪡🇦🇺
I have to admit it was an impulse purchase but one which I knew was right x
Wow, I love your demonstration of the edges. Thank you!
You are so welcome! Good luck and you’ll love the effect xx
I just finished a Mable dress by TATB and love it! I didn’t think I would like it as much as I did. I also finished a dress called the serenity dress by ojayroom patterns. She had a contest to name the pattern and she chose my name and sent me the pattern. It’s so lovely, haven’t worn it yet. I want to make my daughter one next.
Oh Wow - what an absolute honour xx
Lovely vlog , thank you for sharing. X
Glad you enjoyed it, thank you so much for watching xxx
I haven't gotten any sewing done yet--I JUST got my bedroom converted to a sewing room (I have a fairly comfortable couch) and today I put all the furniture into it. Now I need to arrange everything, BUT I think I might just sneak a bit of sewing in before I arrange the whole room! I'm going to try out your rolled hem--more work but excellent results!
Actually I find it so therapeutic too and it’s lovely seeing the edge appear xx
Love all your ps great advice thanks 😊😊😊
You are so welcome!
Heading off to Lidl now! Thanks for a lovely vlog.
Oh the Lidl iron is just so lovely and light weight xx
So happy that you’re loving the Sew Steady table. I’ve gone through several irons myself! Yay that you’re going to get new internet. Woo hoo. Did you know that Becky Jo works at Josephine’s? Jane went there a couple of days ago and saw her. How cool. We can go there after lunch with Peggy! Hugs.
Jane text me and oh I love my sew steady table!!!
I'd love a photo of you wearing the Portland cotton dress. I have that same pattern cut out.😊
And I want to finish it now but I’ve to make my ochre free range slacks and my regalia! Xx
Happy Friday, Judi! You do such beautiful work. I tend to rush my sewing, but lately I have tried to channel you and be more precise and enjoy it more. Are you familiar with Helen's Closet patterns? I've just cut out the Lockhart dress.
Hello there, I do know Helen’s Closet (via the love to see podcast) but I’ve never bought one of her patterns yet! Xx
I have exactly the same problem with irons. I have a feeling they don't like being on for long periods of time, so I now turn mine off between irons when sewing. It seems to extend the life. Might do a trip to Lidl and grab one for a spare. Love all the tips. I've bought both the peony and the fleur today - too easily influenced by other you tubers, as if I didn't have enough patterns 😂.
Oh I do hope you like the little light weight iron xx
Another great video 😊 I love to hear about your life in Yorkshire - I'm from there myself but now live on the south coast. All of your makes look lovely and I look forward to the finished garments.
Oh thank you, I can confirm it’s a beautiful sunny morning here - I’ll post a little insta story from castle Howard today as I’m there xxx
Thank you for sharing your Friday Sews. I really enjoy them. I’m presently working on my Sauvie dress. Just figured out my size and did a toile. I’m using the same fabric as you and Sam 😅. I found that amazing 😊. Love your table extension. It will certainly come in handy for bigger projects. I agree with you about the iron. I actually have two that I got from my mother when she passed. They are heavy metal irons. They work great 😊. Thank for more tips on the Sauvie. I’m a slow sewist but I enjoy my process. Thank you for sharing! Your friend Diane ❤
Hi Diane, I’m so looking forward to the reveal day… I’d better warn Peggy (SH7) she be swamped on social media xxx
@@runningsewandsew 😄
completely agree with you, irons last me about two years and I buy a £25 one each time. Lovely fabrics and makes. I am currently making the egg bag from sew liberated,.
Going to show my age - they do t make irons like they used to!
H Judi, some great p's😀. I am ready to cut out the Sauvie dress and I have also been following Dizzy quilts and sews QAYG block series, Im not the fastest sewer but will get there x
I need to start making the Dizzy quilt blocks xxx
❤
❤️❤️
I’m a seam roller and tacker…so pleased you also lick your fingers….
Thanks for the very handy demo 🙂
You’re welcome 😊
How can an iron break? Never happened to me !
It’s like anything powered, spontaneous failure happens
