- While practically everyone else who owns a Jeep was at Jeep Beach in Daytona we were on the North Carolina coast at Fort Fisher State Recreation Area - a nice place for a quiet (except for the wind noise!) cruise on the beach. #jeep #beach #fortfishernc

Went in mid September 2023. Helped pull out two vehicles on way in the got myself stuck. Got pulled out and helped get 3rd vehicle originally stuck out. Rest of the day on the beach was driving pleasure with a lil work thrown in. Highly recommend this place. The whole area is nice
I’ve seen so many videos of stuck vehicles in the past year! It definitely helps to air down and take it slow and steady.
The Hermit was my favorite thing about Fort Fisher
I have lived in Wilmington for 19 years now and love the north end … Ft. Fisher is cool, I like walking out to the hermits bunker, great walk, just beautiful ❤😊

Yes, we are fortunate to have a few 4 wheel drive access beaches here on the southeast coast… but I would gladly trade one or two of them for some trail time in the Anza-Borrego Desert area!

Is there any place camping is permitted on the beach anywhere?
@@Marie-kj3xf No. Unfortunately there is no camping at Fort Fisher. Camping is aloud at Carolina Beach State Park, which isn’t too far away, but I don’t know what their camping area is like - I don’t think it’s directly on the beach.
You would have to go to the box. Try looking up Cape Lookout. You have to arrange a ferry ride over to the island and be self sufficient for however long you decide to stay. Great place to camp and surf fish.

Take a zoom lens camera. It is an easy place to see that there is no curvature. You can scan down the beach past Bald Head Island and even see people on the beach there from Ft. Fisher.
Looking to the North, you can even see the Wrightsville Beach water tower from Bald Head, 26 miles away.
Then put your camera on the ocean horizon and see all the boats that you could not see with the naked eye. Nothing is "going over the horizon."
