- #garmin In this video I power up my Garmin Instinct 2 Solar watch for the first time and illustrate that it has tons of features available to use even if you don't want to connect it to a cell phone. Note obviously there are lots of additional features the cell phone will give you (i.e. doing watch settings from the phone, download additional glances and watch faces, cell phone notifications, weather, etc.)

Thank you so much for showing how the watch can be used without phone synch ! I've been looking for a self-sufficient sports watch and I was starting to feel like I'm the only one in that situation !
Casio was so close with the prw-2500. If they just would have put sunrise sunset data on that watch all my ocd needs would have been fulfilled. Now all the current protreks have lost the moonphase and other charm but include the sunrise sunset data so here I am researching Garmin. Thank you for speaking about the “non smart” operation of this watch. You answered every question and your setup with moon phase, baro, and sunrise sunset on the main screen is the exact set up I was curious about! Very hard to find info.
Incomparable!
The G-Shock lacks almost all of the features the garmin has.
Garmins instinct is tested to a millitary standard and uses three gps systems depending on sorroundings.
Yeah, you’re right Garmin instinct is the coolest watch it all performs the triple sensor watches which I thought were cool, but not anymore. Like you mentioned, the dedicated storm alert sensor alone makes it worth getting, but the backtrack feature is is really the main focal point
I love my Garmin Instinct Solar. FYI - The Casio Pro Trek PRW-7000, PRW-70, and PRW-73 have the features you want too. The advantages of the Pro Treks for some people would be less worry about charging and more traditional analog watch style
Thanks for the comment. I stand corrected, I did not realize the models you mentioned had moon phase. The Instinct is great. . . .but no issues with Casio Pro Trek's either. . . gotta mix it up now and then! :)
I got both Garmin instinct 2s solar and Protrek PRW 60 recently. Garmin Especially for ABC and occasional smart features. but for more stylish look and no worry for charging, I also wanted protrek PRW 60. Now I have a complete watchset for everything possible with a watch. The only problem became my wallet 😅
Great video, you've answered the last question I had before ordering it
Aaaaaand the new Instinct Crossover looks like a broadside at Casio.
I like smart watches, but got sick of always charging. Always lined G-Shocks, so the Garmin instinct was a no brainer . The instinct is the most comfortable watch I've owned. Hands down.
Nice video, great watch.thats my next pull trigger
Πήρα πριν 1 μήνα το Solar Tactical 2.
Πολύ καλό ρολόι αν και έψαχνα να βρω το Casio GBD-H1000-8.
Super helpful video thanks
Thanks for the comment, glad the video helped! Enjoy your watch!
I'm not a fan of smart watches, as I tend to want to use any watch I get for at least 10 to 15 years, more if possible, and smart watches become outdated in 2 to 3 years max. This watch is unique and has the potential to be in vogue for long, due to its monochromatic display, and regular watch features. Time, World Time, Timer, Alarm, Stop Watch, Altimeter, Barometer, Thermometer, Compass, Moon phase, Phone finder, GPS, Music controller (not player), Flash light (meh), Email and message notifications, Heart Rate monitor, Pulse Oximeter, Step counter, Sleep Tracker, Stress tracker, Menstrual Cycle Tracker (no use for me), Body charge identifier, different watch faces, 100 m water proof, solar charging, regular charging, shock proof, long battery life, Garmin pay, over 30 exercises activities, this watch has it all. Couldn't ask for more. The more expensive Garmin watches (2 to 3 times more) only have a color display, and more detailed maps, neither of which I'm too bothered about. This watch is value for money for its price.
Yes but the batteries in the Garmin's are not meant to be replaced. They lose a lot of their charging ability within a few years (anywhere 2 to 5 I've heard). Now some people have been able to replace them through a more complex disassembly than your typical G-Shock, but some people say it's easy, some say it's a pain, and a few say they broke the watch in the process of changing the battery. Definitely something to consider and why I've personally held off buying one.
Great!! Also Do you know Instinct Crossover is coming soon?😅
I don't like the Crossover. The clock hands block the screen.
Try the GBD H2000. It has all that and more and is way better than the 1000
exactly
Hey, quick question, if I do a Duathlon, for example run and open water swim, do I have to press Set between the activities?
They don't have Duathlon as an activity. So you would have two options. As you said, do it as two separate activities. . . (1) start a run activity, then stop and (2) begin swim activity between your run and swim. The other option would be to create a custom activity so that you can just have the one activity record the full activity (which out having to start and stop). The negative of that option is I don't know that you will have all the extra features available in the delivered swim activity (you would have to test that). I hope that helps and makes sense.
@@WatchJumble Ideally the watch should be able to identify when I am running and when I am swimming. I tried it the other day without pressing any buttons, but only the running aspect was recorded. There's gotta be another way.
@@Koufalia4 Yeah I assume you tried with Move IQ on? That would be the only way for the watch to automatically determine if you are doing an activity. I have never used it. - support.garmin.com/en-US/?faq=zgFpy8MShkArqAxCug5wC6&identifier=775697&tab=topics
Hey great video! How much data / how long will the watch store data before resetting? Like steps, barometric data, etc. Does the watch reset every night? just curious if you know. Not many people use the watch without "smart" features, so i can't find this info.
It keeps all of that information forever in your Garmin connect account. The watch basically logs the data and starts recording the next day every night at midnight (as far as like your step tracking, floors, etc.) but they data is still on your device to look at the history for the past 7 days. However when you sync your watch to Garmin Connect it pulls all of the data and keeps it under your Garmin Connect account. So on the watch you can only see the data for the last week. . . . but in your Garmin Connect account you can go look at your steps, floors climbed, etc. from 2 years ago if you wish. Hope that helps and makes sense.
@@WatchJumble But can you use all the features without a Garmin connect account? I ask because I'm ok with having the history only for the past 7 days if that means I don't have to connect the watch to anything.
@@AndreOliveira7051 You really don't need Garmin Connect unless you are wanting to sync your information to your Garmin account or to pull in weather information. Your question regarding the 7 day history. . . your watch will contain more than just 7 days of history, it is just that you will only be able to see 7 days worth on the watch. I am like you, I wear the watch daily. . . hardly every connect it to my phone or Garmin Connect. I do every now and then (maybe a twice a month) just to sync my information to Garmin connect but that is it.
Can we still use Garmin Express on a laptop to upload data if we choose to not connect to a phone? I’m thinking yes cause we’d need it to update too.
You are exactly right, you would plug your watch into your computer and use Garmin Express.
Do you know the maximum duration of the stopwatch
Doesn't the Casio H2000 have ABC data, I think also Tide..
I really don't get why you need to know the moon phase...? Can someone enlighten me??
As someone who hunts, fish, camps, and does amateur astronomy it is one of my favorite features on a watch.
Is this option also working for the instinct 1 ?
Yes you could do the same for the Instinct 1. Instinct 1 is nicer yet because on it you can turn off activity tracking as well if you wanted to (which you can't do on the Instinct 2). Hope that helps.
@@WatchJumble thanks,who are helping me a lot 👍

What about shock resistance?
why is moonphase information so important to you?
I do amateur photography of wildlife and nature. Aside from just knowing what the moon phase will look like, it also has a lot to do with animal movement times. Just a feature I always enjoyed.
@@WatchJumble Ah, I see! Learned something :), thanks!
