Södra Kungsleden | 16 Days / 355km Solo Thru-Hike (Part 3 of 3)

- In the last part, I enter the most spectacular landscape of the trail. It covers 90km hiked from 9th to the 13th of June.
The first day starts out by me finding out that the store in Ramundberget unexpectedly is closed as it is out of season.
Having run out of food the day before, that caused the five hour wait for the bus towards Brukvallarna to be very long.
However, back on the trail with a full tummy and food bag, Sylarna mountain range provided a breathtaking end to my trip.
Rivers, streams and often the trail itself were full of water while the clear weather allowed for some stunning views of the neighbouring mountain peaks in Norway.
Descending into birch forests showcasing their brand new light green leaves made me feel like I during the 16 days had followed the transition from one season to another.
About Södra Kungsleden
Södra Kungsleden is the result of a non-succesful attempt to extent Kungsleden to stretch through the entire Swedish mountain range.
Hence, its name is only officially used in Dalarna, though you sporadically will see signs with its crown-symbol along the northern half of the route as well.
It is possible to stock up food in Flötningen, Ramundberget and in certain STF cabins. However, the store in Ramundberget as well as the STF cabins are only open seasonally and were closed at the time of my trip.
Information about the trail is sparse. Länsstyrelsens folder (available online) covers the part in Dalarna, while a Swedish (Lars Magnusson "Vandra i Sverige") and German (Michael Hennemann "Scweden: Kungsleden) contains information about the entire route.
