- With many new motorcycle riders joining the market daily, my friend allowed me to do a first ride video on his new 2020 Yamaha R3. This bike has been touted as one of the best introduction motorcycles and I wanted to get a sense of what I missed out on (I began on a 2017 HD Forty-Eight, hehe). Let me know in the comments if you would like sports bike content...*wink,wink* considering a new bike.

I am so happy to hear that! Ride safe! Hopefully you love it!
I’ve been riding my entire life. Wear your gear because you will need it. I’m really not a gear Nazi. There’s been many times where I’ve hopped on the bike with shorts and tennis shoes but trust me, you’ll appreciate wearing full gear when it saves your ass
Its just to get them used to the feeling if being on the track because thats supposed to be a track bike
Bro props to you for putting this video up and keep it up. Some people in the comments can’t appreciate your first thoughts and feel the need to put you down. As someone who is looking to buy an R3 and can’t see one in person this is very informative and helpful. Thank you.
Thanks for the kind words and comment! It truly was my first thoughts and I had also never done a review/first impression video before…I’m glad there are some appreciative people out there!
The fact that it can keep up reasonably with his Mustang is impressive for such a small and light bike.
I’ve been riding for 15 years, rode plenty of 750cc-1600cc bikes, Harleys and Ducati’s and Honda’s and Suzuki’s and this is my next bike for sure. Just a simple, commuter/grocery/occasional backroad twisty on the weekend. The R6 was just too much bike every day IMO feels like having a Ferrari but have only dirt roads and parking lots to ride in.
Great vid, i’ve watched it a few times already.
It’s an eco boost😂
@@Lazer-yi6qg yeah that ugly ass mustang😭
Even with a few years riding experience I’d probably start at the r3 level as it’s a different game than cruisers. Good work!
Yeah, that is what I was thinking as well. My heavy throttle hand on an R6 or R1 would get me into trouble...legally, financially, and physically!
Why not start at 150 cc's?
@@josephgo9597 small price difference and big performance difference. 125-150 are just slow and it might be more dangerous than 300 (for example when overtaking)
@@josephgo9597 and experience is much closer to the big ones, so you’re going to create good habits for the future
Im torn between r3 and a cbr500r
That mustang steals the show!
Damm that Mustang 🐎 entry on 1:06 🔥🔥.crazy exhaust

Engine 2.0 L ecoboost Mustang 🐎
That's definitely not the 8cyl 5.0 and I'm no ford fan but Ford knows what they're doing with the 5.0 and the sounds of them. I'll give them that.
@Ritesh Yadav no 2.0l ecoboost
I was back and forth between the mt-03 and the r3 I went with the mt. It’s such a great bike. Same
Motor for 5500
Definitely a good biker also! I like the new grey they did on the '21 MT-03
The r3 is a perfect learning bike I have one and there so fun
I agree, definitely a cheap and fun way to get into motorcycle riding.
It’s a totally awesome bike but as a beginner or even experience you should be wearing some totally awesome gloves, well maybe not. Maybe you don’t like your hands
The Yamaha R3 might be my first sport bike once I get my finances straight. Looks pretty beginner friendly .
Very beginner friendly! Hopefully that’s soon and we cross paths one day!
Saw this at 111k views and his buddy’s plates have 222, I’m literally gonna buy this bike. Can’t wait, first time rider soon to be 😀🙏
Excited for you! Definitely a sign for you to get the bike haha
Traded my R3 for a GSXR 750, It was an awesome little bike. So light and fun
Really, pls would u elaborate your experience and the reason, why u degraded from the legendary gsxr?
MisLead, no, he's saying he went FROM the r3 to the gxsr
@@kevinhernandezretana2170 ohh yeah, understood, thanks mate🤗🤗🤗
How long did you have the R3?
@@JudahTribe-lt3ur about 6 months
Everyone hates on the turn signals because some other guy said they are bad but none of you are old enough to remember having to clean the contacts on 1980’s bikes and we didn’t have push to cancel options. They work fine once you get it
I really appreciate this video. You kept it so real and easy to understand!!
Thank you for the kind feedback!
Yes full review please! I like the video style too, its very nice to watch.
With your vast experience of biking, do you not think that protective clothing (which includes gloves) might just be a good idea?🤔
I’m 16 and have never ridden a Motorcycle, but something tells me you should be wearing leather and gloves
Hey Ben, thanks for the view. I have been told by some to wear more gear, and they have their points. When I am on short rides, I wear what I need to wear depending on where I am going. But, when I am on long rides, I wear all protective gear no matter what. Just my personal preferences and risk comfortability.
@@blackbirdrides3098 didn't remember the rule atgatt???
@@blackbirdrides3098 only a crash will chznge that view and that’s just a preventable shame
@@blackbirdrides3098 I dunno man a short slide on the highway might do quite a little damage
@@Daniel-dj7fh yupp my brothers works trauma in the E.R and gets motorcycle accident patients all the time and most of them always have life changing injuries. Just even a slide at high way speed can leave serious burns and permanent nerve damage.
4 cylinder mustangs shouldnt be allowed to have loud exhausts
This is the kind of test I want to see on the Ninja 400
Hmm...I may have to do just that!

Hi bro I am from India love to see u and the r3 ❤️
Thanks for the support man!
Bro I'm from Kolkata Newtown... Desparately waiting for BS6 R3...is it coming??
Its crazy we live in the same area! im 16 and getting an r3 maybe this year, maybe ill see your buddie soon!
Hoping you get it man, it is an awesome bike! Maybe we will see you around!
In india i started a lot of bikes in 3rd 4th gear and sometimes even in 5th gear as well
I can on my Harley. Think it is just cause I am not used to high revving engines. Or...I suck at riding motorcycles lol
@@blackbirdrides3098 high revving machines starts on 1st gear only...
Even in Sri Lanka also 😂
@@abysounthar6273 b'coz we've low cc bikes
Awesome video 👌🤘
Not professional but definitely know from experience... started on an R3 and accidentally started in 2nd gear many times, even started in 3rd once haha
Nice bike and vlog. Keep it up bro 💪🏼
Thanks for the support man, I appreciate it!
None of the gear none of the time?
I’m totally with you bro
Really? Not even wearing gloves? WTF he’s talking about frame sliders but how about Hand sliders????
Aren’t you supposed to break in the engine before driving full throttle?
There is a break in period, one or two won't kill it though. Continued hard break in will prematurely wear piston rings and may cause blow by sooner.
I have the 2020 R3, and it's a nice bike; however the brakes are way too soft on stopping power.
I did feel that several times in traffic I had to really squeeze the brakes to comfortably stop. I wonder what can be done to help that?
@@blackbirdrides3098 I've heard changing the pads help. I'll end up doing that once I've placed an order.
I haven`t had any issues with my front brakes stopping power the rear isn`t great but once they get a little wear on them as I have almost 8,000 miles on mine they work quite well but I find that I can just engine break for most of my slowing needs. then again I am about 140 lbs and 5' 7". I have actually found that the bike is over sprung for my weight as the suspension barely moves when I`m riding it causing me to not have much confidence in the front end.
@@MicheleAdventues hey can u flatfoot the r3?
@@zin9121 yes I can.
Weird that I haven’t been there in a while but I know where he was when I saw that turn around then storage unit.
Please - wear leathers and especially leather gauntlets. Protects you in the event of a spill.
Randomly one night thought I should get a bike for summer since gas is getting expensive and don't want to drive my suburban all year round or spend absurd prices for a summer/fuel efficient car. A bike seems pretty fun and would be a new experience 😂
Did you get one??
Waiting for this bike to launch in India..... Currently I own KTM Rc 390 and it has a lot of heating issue's.....
I am sure this bike will suit your needs and wants...and then some! When is the R3 expected to be released? Thanks for the support!
@@blackbirdrides3098 in India the date was dec 19th I guess
@@xceptgaming3224 🤔
He should have spent the money on a better sounding exhaust for his mustang. Man that sounded gross lol. Whatever floats his boat though, its his car. It might be fast though, I have no way of knowing. Or maybe its a turbo or something? At any rate nice review/first impression of the bike. I have watched a few videos of the R3 and the MT03 and that is a common thread in all the of them, the turn signals suck. Comparing that to a larger cruiser would probably be kind of hard. Just different worlds I would imagine. Would be like comparing a mazda RX-7 rotory to a muscle car with a big block.
Frame sliders? How about hand sliders dude not wearing gear. You’ll learn. I’m riding a 2021 Z 900 rs café making 111 hp and 80 foot pounds of torque but I’m also wearing gloves and a jacket because I’ve been there it sucks
I can totally understand dude I love the r6 but since I'm a beginner I have to start out with an r3
I miss my little R3 not even going to lie 😭
Sign to buy a new one!
I love your gloves
Nice gloves you have there. Where can i get one of those?
Awh, thanks for noticing. I got them at a thrift store.
Bro is it comfortable for touring
For me, no, but maybe a smaller person...t is very nimble and aerodynamic but the seat positioning on any sports bike is taxing on the lower back! Thanks for watching and commenting!
@@blackbirdrides3098 bro m 6’5”! is it comfortable for me?? yes or no?!!if not thn which one should i go with?? pls help me?!!!!
I do not think this bike will be the most comfortable for you...however it is doable. I am 6'0''-6'1'' and started to ache towards the end of the ride. The R6 is slightly taller and wider...if you can handle the speed and the price.
@@blackbirdrides3098 ok I’m 5’11 is that good enough
@@baxtermahill3269 I'm 5 11, my r25 is lowered inch ish rear and it is still comfy for touring. I thinks it is more comfy than a straight sitting bike.
Hey I still didn't get an answer...plz told me how is the aggression on that New R3 which u ride as compare to Ninja300 or previous generation R3...????

Would the dealer let u drive home without a bike license

No they will not…..
Good video brother 😊💪😎
Thanks man! I appreciate it!
So this is a good bike to learn? Is that what you mean to say??
Because i am looking to get my 1st bike and have this in my list
Yes! This bike is great for a first bike given that you’re not trying to go extremely fast. I’d highly recommend it to any new rider
@@blackbirdrides3098 Thanks😊👍
Imo, there is no such thing as a beginner motorcycle. If you can ride one, you can ride them all.
I definitely agree. However, the importance is knowing your limits. Most people learn the best after having an “oh sh**” moment.
@@blackbirdrides3098 I agree with that sentiment as well. But an Oh Shit moment can happen on a bicycle or a hyabusa
It's not quiet anymore, but I'm not sure whats louder the bike or the car

Are these bikes speedometers caliberated to miles per hour over there (whatever place that is)?
Yes, the speedometer is in MPH here.

This one is setup as a complete sports bike

Ahh I was just kidding I really like the r3 aswelll
if it's a new bike shouldn't the rmp keep at 5k?
Dude I want a r6
Nice gloves!
I don’t know where you live but 1500 Tax, license and everything Else that’s crazy compared to what I spent on mine.
We live in Texas. I forgot to mention that the price also included the dealership "set-up"/prep fee of like $500...bs if you ask me.
Is that an Aggie ring ?
Close. But, slightly better...UT! 🤘🏼
Hey man I'm looking into learning how to ride. I am a heavy guy(300lbs) and about 5 ft 10. Would I look too goofy on a r3 or should I get the r6. I've never ridden a motorcycle before.
R3 would be too small...I think it’s too small for me 6 ft 1 (245lbs). If you’re wanting to go the sports bike route, the R6 would be perfect.
Thanks for the input man. I subbed
i would look at the 650`s the R6 isn`t a good beginner bike if you are looking at wanting a sport bike the ninja 650 and the cbr 650 are a good bike to look at.
which car is this
Good deal
Thanks for the view and comment Doyle! Ride safe man
R3 is my first bike, i start off in 2nd gear as standard. I dont see the point in using first gear for anything. This is probably a bad habit to take over once i upgrade im sure
Did he buy it before getting his license or after.
Before
yo my boy did this same thing for me
You can definitely take off in second your just not used to it because I do it all the time with no trouble 😂

I cannot, of course, say 100% but I’m pretty confident you’d be able to. Best way to find out is to test ride one!
Or at least just hop on one at the dealership to see haha

$1500 for TTL? I hope not. 8% sales tax is only $400 on 5k

MPH
U said 3:38 70/mph or 70/kmph ??
70/mph eaqul to 112/kmph which fast, but at 3:38 it's not look that fast.
I think your speed is at 3:38 is 70/kmph not 70/mph.
Lmao I have a mustang and I bought a Yamaha R3 and I don’t know how to ride just yet and I wanted this as my leaner bike and my buddy is taking my R3 to my place for me….small work

Ninja 300 or r3?
Ultimately, they’re very similar so it just comes down to personal preference. However, if buying new, the ninja 400 is comparable in price to the R3.
I would take a seat on both and see how you like how it fits you they are quite close in how good they are. there is also a good aftermarket for both and I think the ninja 400 is also allowed in the same race category as the R3 if you ever wanted to make it a race bike later on.
