    I saw these and read some comments. Apparently if you hold the zipper tape at an angle (when putting in), as opposed to straight up, it goes in easier.

    I got a couple of these several years ago when this 'hack' was popular. It's made doing yards of zippers so much easier. Since it's so light weight I adhered mine on a mini ceramic tile but I LOVE the idea of putting it upright...now I'm going to have to give that a try.
    If you get zippers by the yard here's a trick for you to make life easier - put on all the zipper heads at the same time. Then all you have to do is move them down the zipper tape when you have to cut off what you need. Of course this works best if you only need one zipper head per zipper. But, if you need two zipper heads on a zipper, it's not difficult to cut off the length you need, remove one head and stick it back on in the correct direction to make a double headed zipper.

    I have been looking for those tea towel thingies for quite a while. Never have found one. But I saw someone using the tines of a fork. They do it so fast that it's hard to actually follow them. So I sat at my computer the other night, watching YOUR videos and just kept practicing. It turned out that when I held the zips about half an inch from the ends that I was able to work it a lot better. And to also put the zip ends in at an angle like you're making a V-neck piece. (I'm still looking for one of those gadgets... LOL)

I tried a fork, by hand. I've seen by the yard, but I use different colored zippers, and though I sell many things with zips, doesn't seem enough to garner by the yard. • @ChristinesHomeAffairs
      @ChristinesHomeAffairs  Před rokem

      Lucille, do you mean the tabs (sliders) that go on the teeth? I think you get used to it after a while when you use the same size often enough. A regular style zipper that goes on dresses (not invisible zips) is usually a number 3. The higher the number the thicker the teeth. A number 10 or even 8 would be good for a puffer style jacket. No. 5 are popular for bags, and hoodie type clothing😀

    • @lucilledaub5991
      @lucilledaub5991 Před rokem +1

      @@ChristinesHomeAffairs yes I meant the zipper pull to use when you buy zippers by the yard. To be able to make more zippers how can you tell what zipper pull to buy when you want to use another zipper.

    • @ChristinesHomeAffairs
      @ChristinesHomeAffairs  Před rokem

      Lucille, when you by them by the yard, the one you purchase will usually tell you if it is No.3, 5, 8 etc. Then you order the slider to go with it. So for example if you purchase 100 yards of No.5 coil or tape, you would purchase No.5 pulls/sliders to suit. Sometimes you can purchase it with the sliders already on the coil, but then you may need more depending on the amount of products you're making. Hope that's helped😀

      The trick is to start the zipper tapes at a 45 degree angle into the zipper pull. Don't put them in straight down or it won't work as well. Make the two zipper tapes for a "V" into the zipper pull.

    It would have been helpful if you had not used a black zipper in a room with poor lighting. It’s very difficult to see.

    It didn’t work for me. The zipper pull just kept falling out. I wasted my money .

    Magnets can blow the computer inside your sewing machine. Please be careful where you store and use magnets. I have never seen a tea towel gadget like that one; and, I would not want to stick that on my wall either. However, I would attach it to something (without some kind of computer inside it) to assemble zippers.

      Thanks for the tip Arvetta. Before placing magnets on my computerised machines, I did ask an expert with machines if they would cause any problems. He did tell me that it would be ok, but I also don't place the magnet on the screen, just on the metal frame. Haven't had any issues yet, but I am now following this up with some real research. I'm going to get to the bottom of this mystery and hope to have some clear answers sometime soon. Will keep you posted 😀

    I've been using this for a couple of years and it's saved me so much frustration and many swear words hahaha. It's so much easier to use once you secure it to a solid surface and it doesn't move. :) It's easier if you put the zips in at an angle and not straight down.
