No excuses but Villa looked leggy after putting in a massive shift against Arsenal a few days ago. Lille were the better side but to play bad and win is a good trait. Emi Martinez is a legend. What an amazing GK, his confidence is off the scale.

Villa been looking tired for a few months now and they still keep powering on. The number of injuries they've racked up is getting a bit worrying though. Zaniolo forced off early in this game, Ramsey ruled out for the season, Moreno injured again on top of the 3 ACL's - its going to be a tough end to the season

As a Villa fan, he's absolutely right. At Villa Park, they played really well for an away fixture. The difference being, we took our chances and Emi. He is very sporting in his approach. I wish his team well. UTV

Much respect; I was so impressed with Lille's performances, their manager, team and supporters who created such a fantastic atmosphere. Lille were easily the best team over the two legs, the best team we had faced so far too.
This is what Euro football is all about, bringing teams together who wld never normally play each other, oftentimes creating extraordinary moments like Emi's saves.

Villa were the better side in the first leg, Lille were the better side in the 2nd leg, 2 pretty evenly matched teams separated by a penalty shootout.
The French FA did everything to help them giving then free weekends before each game Villa on the other hand had very tough games and we're physically and emotionally drained and it showed in our performance so all credit to the team for digging deep and getting through against the odds

Lille are a very good team and were the better side BUT having the weekend off twice gave them a massive advantage and let’s NOT forget that. We played Arsenal on Sunday and beat them then played Thursday.
