Just ordered some of your hardware, great video. Thanks for everything!
Thank you! We appreciate your business -
Thanks alot for your answer and help. Also, congratulations for this DIY, the only and the best i found around the web. thank you!!
Back-up washers are most important for handles, latches and any other components that are subject to strain. While it can't hurt to put back-up washers on other "passive" components it's not a priority. Hope this helps.
Yes chuyetax - as 3/8" wood was used for the entire project, so were 3/8" rivets. Keep in mind that if you use a different thickness of wood, say 1/4" or 1/2", you'd need to use different length rivets. Hope this helps.
I am just wondering with all those parts, how much I can actually save building it myself. Seems like the labor is better suited to someone with air tools and a large work area.
i like to built a case for 2 55 inch tv , so what material i have to buy expect plywood ??
Do you guys carry something that I can make a sliding shelf with? Like the DJ cases that have sliding laptop shelves?
The corner ball and latches have recesses to allow for the corner angles and tongue and groove....what size corners are they? small med or large?
If the inner holes of the hinges were riveted first, then washers could be used for the outer holes where there is no aluminum behind them.
No washers on the back of the corner clamp rivets?
Thank you for sharing! What size rivets do you recommend?
nice. help full
Hey there! Great video! Do you have guidance on how to measure and cut for the recessed clamps? I’m trying to convert 4 traditional hinges to a few twist lock clamps
maybe it would be wise to tell customers in parts 5 and 6 to not put rivets at the ends of the extrusions so they don't get in the way of those corner pieces.
So I am putting together parts for a custom case. For my angle extrusions, I need low profile, so using 3/4 inch ones. Other hardware, like the small ball corners and latches I have selected do not seem to have the slight recession to allow for the extrusions. Is that a problem when you put it together? Do they just bend when you rivet them?
You are correct. They are designed to bend slightly for a tight fit.
excuse me!! every rivet that you used, is the same 3/16 in all the road case work?
Cool and thanks for your help
It's always good to know that our videos helped. Thanks for watching!
"...and we'll blow off any shpilkus that might get in the way here!" ?! awesome. this guy is rad
I have a 20 year-old custom guitar case and the tension gets too tight before I can completely close my latches. Is there something I can do to loosen up the tension?
good video thanks a question where can I buy the pieces
What is the size of rivert for 3/4 plywood? Also the size of washer?
What is the part number for the corner clamp mentioned at 1:12? I can't find them on the website.
As a matter of fact we are putting the finishing touches on a terrific NEW sliding shelf made specially for DJ's. It should be ready for sale in less than a month. Go to our web site, ReliableHardware . com and sign up on our Mailing List (upper left hand column) and you'll receive notification via an E-mail. Hope this helps.
I'm putting together a shopping cart on your website to build myself a road case, but I can't find the corner clamps you use at the 1:15 mark. can you send me a link?
Hope this helps - www.reliablehardware.com/large4holeclampzinc-1.aspx
Thnx for info Im starting a new job building these next week much appreciated kiwi-phill
a doubt, as the tool used to press the drawer is called, which has a strap that surrounds the drawer
The drill bit you are using looks like it has a stop on it, is that out of your personal collection or does it come with the pack of rivets? Now onto the real challenge... making a flight case house ;)
Does the company make custom cases to order? I have a need for an amp head and 4U to 6U rack the would roughly measure 24"W x 23" H x 16" D without the lids
Anthony, We do not make cases - we make case hardware for those who do. Search for "custom road cases" in your area.
Thank you. With those measurements in mind, could you recommend the the amount of tongue and groove valances and right angle extrusion? Is the stuff sold in 12' and 10' pieces?
Anthony Knight
You're going to need to a bit of work yourself. Start by making a sketch of your case that includes dimensions. This will aid you in determining the amount of valance, double angle extrusion and other parts you'll need. After you've done that you may certainly call and we'll help you refine your list. 800-757-5270
The lid that I'm designing is 3 inches. I haven't picked up my pieces yet just designing it. Is 3 inches enough room for the ball corner and the 2 hole clamp? My case is a 1/4 build. Thanks!
Yes
what size of corners , rivets, latches and handles did you used, Im planning to build a acoustic guitar road case. any advice of what to order will be appreciated Thank you for all your videos.
Hope this helps.

reliabledan thank you so much!!!
@@reliabledan One link say's 3/8" rivets, the other says 1/4" rivets. Which one is recommended?
I heard the size rivet to use but maybe I missed it, what length Rivets are you using?
The rivet length depends on the thickness of the wood. Fow example, if your wood is 3/8" use 3/8" rivets. www.reliablehardware.com/poprivets.aspx
awesome
The ball corners are nice, but those are for the typical situation where the edge of the wood / corner is 90 degrees - what about if it's 45 degrees? Say I want to build an octagon box - what can I use to cover the corners?
You might call Gene @ Reliable on Monday. He may have a suggestion for you. 818-753-8558
How far apart are the rivets supposed to be on the double angle extrusion?
Every 12 to 18 inches is ideal.
Thanks, I'm building a lighting console road case :) I'll be in tomorrow for some more double angle :)
Great - see you tomorrow.
RH-0608 - thanks for asking.

about the ball corner clamp rivets at 1:06 - aren't you just riveting into wood with no backup washers? Won't that just crush the plywood?

Hi, I have 4- 24x18x119 4-in caster wheels ATA cases for sale. Do you know anybody that might be interested in buying those?
You are using to many rivets with your hybrid. Also those extra base rivets shoud be in line with your lid rivets. Why are you not using bar clamps ? It's like basic and much better than a belt. Overall not a really good job...

Nice tutorial! But you forgot something.. you need to tell people how to remove rivets that is placed wrong :)
So I watched 8 of 11 where did 9 10 &11 go?

the rivets on the lid and the case dont line up ,,, why not ?
0:27 lid rivets in the way of the balls ,,, its only half thought out , you need to plan ahead more ,,, still if its still gigging eight years on , who cares , its the only one of us that is.

You guys are screwed up.
