    Great review! I ordered Larkin frames as well and it took a month to get them. I actually went to post office to pick them up to get them quicker as the free shipping is sure post where it starts as UPS ground and the post office does actually delivery, if I had waited actual shipping would have been 8 days minimum. That's a bit much considering what the website claims. As for fit the Larkin was too big for me. I went to local eye glass store and found the smallest kid frame actually fit, Pair calls it Cedro, ( I checked inside measurements at store). There's lots of adult frames in that size range. I did go ahead and order Cedro. Though I'm ticked about how long it took to get them I do love the premise. I have a high prescription and feel the price point isn't bad. They do free returns so I'm actually considering returning the Larkin to get them switched to progressive lens for days I don't need to drive. I think although too big for my prescription(too much distortion because of size of lens) they may be good for when I'm home and do read more. Note the distortion is not their fault, I have a high prescription and astigmatism. The prescription dead center and very close around it is perfect, that's why I'm considering giving progressives a shot in them. As far a designs and price...yeah a little much at 25 bucks a pop but a lot less clutter than having a whole bunch of glasses. The designs, LOVE them lol heck I'm going to be 50 and I still ordered a Sesame Street one as well as the same Harry Potter you did :) I love crazy shoes and bags so this is right up my alley.
    The wait though is ridiculous, they need to get their act together. I wouldn't recommend them to people until I see shipping improvements and they change their website to reflect real ship times. I hope it gets better fast. I think they have a great idea but don't want people saying to me about how long it took if I suggested them. Hoping 2nd pair comes faster.

      Ugh! Yeah.... they definitely need to upgrade the info on the website. I think it says that it takes about two weeks to get a prescription made and sent - which is definitely wrong (6 weeks later...)! I thought about trying the Cedro out, but was worried it wouldn't fit. I may have to give it a try in the future and I'm glad you found one that fits you 🙂 If you do return them, let me know how it goes, I haven't had to deal with a return so I have no idea what customer service is like.
      The tops are a bit spendy, but I worked with special needs kids pre-covid and I keep thinking how much they would love all the different designs if I had worn them to work 😍
      Every time I recommend them I do warn about shipping time. If you need new glasses now... These are not the ones for you... at least right now. I seriously hope they get their processing and shipping together soon!

      As a retired optician I'm very curious as to why you would order your Pair glasses as non-prescription rather than having them include your prescription in your glasses? Pair is providing your glasses in your prescription for free. Your local optical shop is going to charge you at least $65.00 to 100.00 just for simple single vision lenses. I can tell you that the on-line glasses sites all are every bit as qualified in providing you with your glasses in your prescription as well as any local shop can. All you had to do was either ask for a copy of your prescription and photo copy it and send it to Pair or Pair will even call your doctor and get your prescription from them for you. Remember you don't owe that shop anything and in many cases the optometrist are independent of the store so they don't care where you get your glasses from.
      Personally, I have a problem with the magnetic fronts they are selling for $25.00 each. That seems like a lot of money for something similar to a sunglass clip. There are a number of very good glasses sites that you can order a complete pair of glasses in your prescription for as little as $6.95. Check these sites out and you will see what I mean. Zeelool, Voogueme, Payne Glasses and Zenni Optical.

      @@soundmanpt Hi Jim, thanks for the query. I have a strong -8 prescription with +2.5 reading adjustment and astigmatism. The cost of Pair glasses does go up significantly with progressive lenses and add on to the lenses. In addition, Pair only offers polycarbonate lenses at this time. While this is the #1 choice for children due to impact resistance, this material is more susceptible to scratches and does not provide the best visual acuity.
      Costco will be charging an extra $ 25 to make my lenses, but the lenses are quite reasonably priced. I also have a lense recall as my doctor's new script was off, and I plan to use it on the Pair instead of my old frames.

      Thanks for your comment! I also loved the concept or them and the shape of the Larkin was exactly what I wanted 🙂. That's so frustrating! It seems like there are quite a bit of shipping horror stories; I just did an order for a couple of tops to see if they get sent out any faster than my frames did. I got an email from the company shortly after I ordered my original glasses saying they were changing some of their manufacturing to help keep up with the command and growing pains, so I'm hoping they get it figured out soon! And hoping you get your Larkins soon, they're so much fun!

      @@Milkmaid108 Thank you for your reply. Just for fun since you provided your prescription in your reply to me I decided to see how much Zenni would charge you for a really nice pair of glasses with adult lenses and suing high index (thinner) 1.67 thickness for your your glasses including an AR coating as well. Your lenses would be a total of $73.00 and $4.95 for the AR coating. The glasses i chose were $15.95. This came to a total of $93.90 not counting shipping which is only $4.95. How much did you end up paying for your glasses after getting your lenses form Costco?

  • @soundmanpt
    @soundmanpt Před 3 lety +2

    You did a very nice review of your Pair glasses and the Larkin frame seems to be a decent fit on you. $60.00 for the base pair including your single vision prescription lenses is certainly a much better price than what you would pay for glasses from a local optical store. I even like the idea of having various options for magnetic fronts or face plates to change the look of the glasses. But not at the cost of $25.00 each. That seems much too excessive for something like that. It's really nothing more than a magnetic sunglass clip that you can but at most stores for under $4.00. Also most of those front clips seem more for kids than adults in my opinion anyway. I'm not sure why anyone would want to pay $25.00 for the clips when you can buy a complete pair of glasses including single vision prescription lenses in whatever your prescription is for as little as $6.95 from any number of really good on-line sites which include sites like Zeelool, Voogueme Payne Glasses and Zenni Optical. So you could actually buy 3 complete pairs of glasses for what one of those clips cost. Remember also that the base pair is already 8 times higher than what one pair of glasses would cost also. Sorry, I don't find this much of a great deal when compared to many other sites out their.

    • @alattehandle326
      @alattehandle326  Před 3 lety +1

      Thanks for your comment. My last glasses from an optical store cost over $350.00 after a discount. The frames themselves were around $75.00 but the lenses were ridiculous! I agree the fronts are expensive, and I feel like they should be cheaper. As for the patterns, there are definitely ones I wouldn't wear lol. The one benefit I found with the sunglass fronts over other sunglasses, is that they actually fit my glasses. I've tried other sunglass frames and always had problems with fit 🙁
      Thanks for mentioning the other sights, I've heard of Zenni, but hadn't the other two. Definitely worth checking out 🙂

    • @soundmanpt
      @soundmanpt Před 3 lety +3

      @@alattehandle326 And thank you for your reply to my comment and for being understanding that I wasn't attacking you in anyway. Sadly, what you paid out of pocket for your glasses is about the average most people pay and that's with insurance paying about half the cost. So you can see that for anyone that doesn't have insurance getting glasses can be put off much too long. As an optician I know some people were being forced to decide on getting glasses or not eating as well as they should just to pay for their glasses. For many people they need their glasses just to be able to function normally. Glasses are a medical device and should be provided as such. I don't have any issue with the jeweler that sells expensive watches and bracelets for hundreds of dollars because those things are optional and not a necessity like glasses are. For that reason the on-line glasses sites are much needed and shows what everyone already were thinking. Glasses are priced far beyond what they need to be priced at. If a company can sell glasses for $6.95 without any insurance that proves they shouldn't cost $350.00 with insurance.
      Something you should know, with Zenni at least, is that every pair of glasses they sell also has an option on the same page for sunglass clips for just $3.95 each. I have ordered a good number of glasses for friends that have wanted the sunglass clips and in every case the sunglass clip is a perfect fit to that frame. I know exactly what you mean though because if you were you try and find a sunglass clip for any of your glasses at any store it is never a perfect fit and usually not even close to fitting the frame of your glasses and it looks rater "dorky". The Zenni clips look like prescription sunglasses they fit so well.
      Aside from getting a sunglass clip, or even two clips, you also need to order an AR coating (anti-reflective) on your lenses which just the $4.95 version is really quite good. They offer that coating in a good, better and best but the good is just fine, but even the best is only $14.95.

Were you sponsored by this company? You never said so but my vote is that you were I’ve ordered glasses from Zenni and EyeBuyDirect and I’m amazed at the quality of glasses that cost less than $10.00 or $20.00 each & those companies are always running sales or coupon codes.
