How do you feel about movies inspired by video games?
Mostly they're pretty bad, but in theory they should be good.
Discouraged, skeptical, used-to-be hopeful, but not so much. The latest Sonic movie was amongst one of the few video game movies that were done well. Other than that, still bleh about this movie.
I wonder if Buttstallion will be in the movie. And who the villain will be and hopefully not generic bandit leader.
Yeah kinda dumb they tried leading with uncharted and venom too smh
This. 100%, this! Why!? Lol
So are we calling this Guardians of the Borderlands or Borderlands of the Galaxy?
It definitely gave me wannabe Guardians vibes
more like Boomerlands...
I'm with you I like the actors they showed but yeah hopefully optimistic
The villain in this is Atlas, not Jack.
I haven’t played the game but this could be worth a stream. I adored the animated Arcane without playing League. Thanks for a more informed review.
The trailer was underwhelming but I loved the Borderlands games so I’m hopeful
Not being familiar with game nor lore, it’ll most likely be a streaming watch for me , if you tell me it’s worth the watch…Thanks for the reaction,Staying Nerdy 🖖🏾
@rodneylindsey849 Same boat
Like we are more often, then not 😎🖖🏾
Hi Amanda have a great day and love your voice 😍
Worried but hopefull. At least least they seem to have captured the general world vibe ok. And its not that the chars are bad but they are all weirdly old in a game serious that is "so hip, young & trending with the kids". I love Cate but is Lilith is like 25 years old siren who can do magic&fly etc. I guess they skipped the siren bit. The insane(ly smart) doctor. Tannis i think is 30. I love Curtis but donno. Tiny Tiny is a kid/teen in BL2 but they got an actor who looks more like BL3 grownup Tina but still act like a kid in the trailer? It looked outright akward when she tried to jump around like a kid. I really hope my worries are wrong. Perhaps they will surprice us.
The casting is like 50/50. I think that it'll be... ok as long as people don't try to take it seriously. Borderlands is supposed to be absurd and campy and REALLY dumb, so maybe it'll work. It feels sort of Guardians of the Galaxy-ish, but without the perfect casting. I won't go to the theatre and see it, but if it hits a streaming service.... maybe.
Ironically the casting I have least issues with is Kevin Hart
Omg! Jay! Awesome to see you in the comments, my friend. Hope you are well. Oddly enough I actually don't mind this casting overall. But I'm a little concerned for the rest of it. I like all these performers but I'm not as confident in the story and direction. But we'll see. 👀
LMAO agreed and he is one I thought I would have a lot of issues with. He isn't Roland but he isn't as out of place as the others.
I mean, Borderlands is never too serious so honestly this looks fun. I'm into it. Cate Blanchett and Jamie Lee Curtis are 54 and 65 respectively, which would normally be weird for characters that are canonically in their 20s to 30s depending on where we fall in the story (Lillith is 22 in Borderlands and 32 in Borderlands 3, and Tannis doesn't have an official age but she's always been assumed to be in the same range) but in this case, I don't think it matters.
Lilith is always supposed to be the elder Siren and the age of Tannis isn't central to her character, she's just a sociopathic archeologist. I'd much rather have these roles be in capable hands of amazing actors than insist on looking the part perfectly. You can get an Instagram cosplayer to nail the look perfectly or you can have a two time Oscar winner who looks pretty good and is going to go for the gusto.
I don't know, I like popcorn and and until Borderlands 3 I really liked Borderlands, so I'm sure this will be fun.
The problem with the age is believably. I'm around Blanchette's age. I'm a tough buzzard. I was a marine and a biker. Heck I could still handle myself if I had to. But I know damn well at our age you ain't running around like an action hero. It's ok if the actor can pass for younger but her age really shows in some scenes (blame it on the make up or lighting but it shows)
@markcarpenter6020 to be fair you're also probably not a mythical siren.
@@DannyBellTheAuthor no just your average werebear
I am only 20 seconds in...but already...this trailer frightens me lmao
this Producer CERTAINLY Thinks mentioning Spider-Man generally gives them credibility when sandwiched between Uncharted & Venom....................
I Like most of the Actors they hired....and I REALLY HOPE for a Jumanji Welcome to the Jungle result..........
I see to much Visual............Junk....on the screen....which DOES MAKE SENSE for a Borderlands adaptation (now that I typed it and thought about it)
as for Roth....he is VERY Hit or Miss....like INCREDIBLY Hit or Miss.
"It could be.....reallly...........Fun...."................ 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣❤❤
xD lol that thumbnail is kinda mean, i thought you were gonna bring it up in the reaction but you didn't
Oh it's not about Cate Blanchett being old if that was your take away. I actually love Cate Blanchett, as I believe I said in the reaction. :) It's in reference to the meme 'how do you do, fellow kids?' which is more about people making projects "for the youth" without really being in touch with the youth. If that makes sense.
If Kevin Hart is in it, just wait 5 minutes in and The Rock will come up to save the day.....
Omg The Rock would've been 1000 times better as Roland!!
Casting is off, and not just in the sense of actors either. No I'm talking the entire character lineup! You've got Roland and Lilith (Borderlands characters), then you've got Kreig and Tina (Borderlands 2 characters), which is fine because, well they are all technically in the same game at one stage. But what throws me off is Mouthpiece (a Borderlands 3 boss), being present in a scene, Atlas existing at the same time as the Crimson Lance as well as using weapons from Borderlands 3 and well, just existing at this point in time is off. And then you wonder where Brick and Mordecai are because they should be with Lilith and Roland, but you also wonder where Axton, Zer0, Maya, and Salvador are because they should be with Kreig and Tina. Yikes! Anyway, who else is pumped to see Kevin Hart get shot through the chest by Ryan Reynolds as (Handsome Jack)?
I see you lore-ing hard and I respect it so much. Lol Very good points. The Borderlands 3 weapons especially. When is this?
@@VampX13Kevin is dressed in Roland's Borderlands 2 attire and is using what looks to be a Dahl manufactured SMG from Borderlands 3. Lilith is dressed in no game specific attire and is lacking her Siren tattoos! She is using a Borderlands 3 Infinity Pistol. Tannis looks great! Jamie is a great pick for Tannis in my opinion and well, oddly enough, back in 2019 when Borderlands 3 dropped, I was discussing a Borderlands movie with a friend of mine, and I actually said that Jamie would be my personal pick for Tannis despite her age. I actually said that she could play an older version of the character to be specific. All the Atlas dudes are using their personally manufactured smart guns with automated targeting. So if I see any of those soldiers missing their shots, that's going to rip me out of the film. Apologies for the lengthy reply! Don't expect you to read it all.
Don't forget gaige. Where are her and death trap?
All of these people are good actors but they are definitely mis cast. 20 years ago blachette would have rocked as Lilith. Not now. Im not knocking her but im about her age. Im a tough old buzzard (former Marine and biker) but i know damn well at this age you aren't gonna be jumping around like an action hero. As for Jamie Lee. It really depends. Tanis is not quirky she is insane. Literally insane. A broken human being (just like Tina).
I actually really like this cast overall. Just the tone feels a bit... off. The casting I don't mind but it feels like this might be really disjointed. Though it depends - that could work for Borderlands film. This trailer didn't sell me on the story.
I know what you mean though for everyone not quite matching up. But it feels like they felt star power was not just needed but demanded for this film. Like no one will go to see Borderlands unless they have a SOLID line up of celebrity actors. Granted - I do like a lot of these celebrity actors... lol🤔 Just not sure if Borderlands NEEDS that per se.
@@VampX13 exactly. They are all good actors but it just feels off.
@@VampX13 the story feels like they forgot in borderlands most of the humor comes from the world around them not from the main characters. Also the story is actually pretty darn dark. Half the people are crazy. Even the good guys aren't exactly good. It feels like they are making the same mistake they made when they adapted ghost in the shell. Nailed the visuals, but miscast the lead and didn't understand the story.
Why?
This barbie, but in a post-apocalyptic version 👎👎
