Ok, I think I need to include a disclaimer in the comment section.
the first 3 Vulture concepts you see in the video were created for Spider-Man 4 yes. However, the last 2 concepts were actually made for Spider-Man 3. Vulture was originally envisioned as the villain of Spider-Man 3 but since he got cut they decided to use him for Spider-Man 4.

As much as Raimi didn’t want Venom cuz he “lacked humanity”, that would’ve been a perfect reason to have carnage as the villain in 4, someone who’s TRULY Peters opposite, someone with no remorse, morals, and trying to appeal to him would be useless. Even Eddie could’ve been talked down if Spidey explained he did it to himself. Carnage would’ve been beyond help tho, and I like it.

Actually, Sam Raimi didn’t want Venom in the sequel because he wasn’t all that familiar with the character. Raimi’s real knowledge of Spiderman and all of his supporting characters all stem from the original Stan Lee and Steve Ditko run along with the John Romita Senior run. By the time Spiderman got rid of the Black Suit and the Symbiote found it’s way to Eddie Brock, Sam Raimi wasn’t reading Spiderman comics. Whenever Sam Raimi discussed the basic plot and storyline for the Spiderman movies, he liked to pull from the comics he either read or was familiar with. On top of that, Sony was hell-bent on shoehorning Venom into the third sequel regardless if Sam Raimi wanted that. That’s the main reason why Spiderman 3 is a bit disjointed upon viewing. It’s always a shame when the studio meddles with the director’s vision (I’m looking at you WB) because Spiderman 3 could’ve been an excellent sequel. That’s what makes it even more heartbreaking that Raimi and co were never given the opportunity to make Spiderman 4. Sam Raimi has stated that Spiderman 4 was going to be a serious return to form. Instead, Sony haphazardly decided to reboot the entire franchise thus scrapping all of the preproduction work for Spiderman 4. I really wanted to see John Malkovich as the Vulture and I wanted to see Spiderman interact with the Black Cat.

The reason they went so heavy on the cosmic body horror element was because the FX crew and Sam raimi himself were heavily inspired by "John Carpenters The Thing" . I prefer this style of FX for the venom character on screen. It calls back to classic venom were he wasn't enormous like he is today. The muscle and size came from eddie brock, which makes eddie a more important factor when he becomes venom. Now a daysthe size for eddie doesn't matter. they've been making venom almost the size of hulk for years. It doesn't matter who wears the symbiote now if they all land up looking huge. It takes some specialty away from the bond that eddie and the suit have. Whats the point of "WE" if anyone like a homeless man can were the suit and look just like venom. It takes me back to an old quote from the comics.

But when people see an Eddie Brock Venom, they usually expect a buff, Hulk-sized Venom. Venom doubles the strength of Eddie, and doubles his size. That’s how a majority of Eddie Brock Venom interpretations go. He’s supposed to be the antithesis of Spider-Man. Monstrous. Brutal. Cruel. And hulking.
This ain’t an argument of how Venom would look on other characters like Deadpool, or Spider-Man. This is an argument of Venom attached to Eddie Brock. Their shared hatred and vindictive personalities combine to form the beast that is Venom.

While it's true that Venom initially lacks humanity, being more of a monster in his early career, it's not like the character never gains humanity as time goes on and his bond with Eddie strengthens. Obviously, it wouldn't have worked for a single feature film to have Eddie become Venom, AND become a good guy in the end after some clashes with Spider-Man, but still, could have been quite interesting had Raimi been given more time to really learn about the character and how Eddie and the symbiote have a complex relationship that could easily have weaved into multiple films. Of course, it's clear that the third Raimi film was just a mess of conflicting wants and demands from everybody involved in its creation. Hopefully the success of No Way Home means we could get a revival, even if it's just a much more satisfying conclusion in the form of a fourth film or a one-off comic.

It simply needs a host to survive, and the Venom symbiote was one of the few of its' species that thought a more permanent bond would work better. Lovers is simply an analogous term that you yourself used. I simply co-opted that and turned it into *former* lovers. The important part is the fact it was scorned. @archangel5627 Před 2 lety +81
