@@Quirky_Ventriloquist it shows that characterisation can alter on a whim at the producer’s willy-nilly say-so. Dean 1.0 was no rapist, prison or no prison. Jaded he became but certainly not a rapist. Not in realistic terms. That was a silly, destructive last-minute decision.

The only thing that made me question whether he developed sexually abusive tendencies before Linda is during that time in the autumn/winter of 2007/2008 when he was locked up (him and Chelsea got a few months for framing Sean for assaulting Patrick in the Minute Mart). Prison can change a man and he did assault Shirley when he came out (it was the last thing he did in his original stint) so I guess there’s a chance that the seeds were being low-key planted long before 2014. And come to think of it spiking Stacey’s drink was one of the first things he did so it’s hard to say with him when you deep it like that.
nah you're looking at him through rose tinted glasses. He was always a whiny, bratty teen at the start that evolved into pettiness and aggression. Factors around him didn't help sure but Dean was never no saint
Underrated actor in Eastenders. When he first joined it years ago he was a bubbly person and everyone treated him like shitee. The guy is proof that villains are made not born

Dean’s exit was perfect for the aim of his storyline. Another guilty rapist walking free due to the bad justice system. His punishment then had to be downgraded to Buster paying him enough money to get out of the country and out of their lives. Him coming back would defeat all purpose.
The way I see it, if eastenders was real, Shirley is still in regular contact with Dean as no matter what he’s done he’s her son but doesn’t tell Mick or no one and would be pointless to be shown on screen
