He missed him n he didn't like the fact Grant dissed his whole bloodline earlier on in the pub. N he probably knows what Grant said is true which hurts and all that got on top of him.
(Tbf Deano isn't a Wicks by blood but he probably didn't know that at that point.)

@@gh0510 I wouldn't say that every character is not redeemable. They aren't perfect people by any means but they aren't 1-dimensional villains for the most part. They have good and bad traits but that's reality.

Tbh Dean was never scared to mouth off at some of the top hardmen even if he did nearly always get battered, he was willing to take on grant, Phil, sean, mick etc he was like a less crazy but more rapey version of Danny moon 😂

Well Grant did act like a big bully to Aidan Brosnan on a couple of occasions back in the day, he also grabbed old of Jamie on a couple of occasions & Mathew Rose, either were any older than Deano is here at the time. Grant in the 90's was much more out of control than Phil, the funny thing is though that Grant had mellowed a little on his returns in the 2000s whilst Phil became nastier. Grant did in 2005 when they were trying to get Sam out of prison grab Stacey in the square who was only about 15 at the time & threaten to hurt her if she didn't come clean about what she knows about Den's murder, Sharon was passing & had to intervene but it showed that Grant is still dangerous.

And on top of that its not just about blood. Nature vs nurture. Its the way the Wicks' behave which affects their kids, the environment theyre growin up in.
Like Kevin's uncle raised David so David is the way he is coz of that environment. If Pete Beale raised David he may have been really different.

I agree about the nature / nurture, but that is not the same as loyalty. David had no loyalty to the Wicks. He hated Brian. He was abusive. So why would he give shite about Wicks family (apart from Simon and his family, of course)? I think the writers understood this. When Shirley told David she was married to Kevin, like she expected a reaction, he simply said hadn't had anything to do with the Wicks in a very long time. Even though Shirley wasn't being insulting like Grant, he was clearly indicating that her revelation meant nothing to him. It's interesting to contrast David's reaction to Dean's here. Ultimately, Dean would learn he, too, wasn't a biological Wicks...

N regardless of Deano not being Kevins he still loved Kevin. U could see it when he came out of prison in Jan2k8 when he found out the man that looked after him even tho he didnt have to, died. it cut him deeply n that was what triggered the selfish, cynical Dean that raped Linda n Roxy.

Grant Mitchell is a decent character.
Grant’s the best, don’t ever piss him off, you’ll regret it.
The script isn't that great on soaps, the story lines are ok but the dialogue just sounds a bit cheesy. And when you get a bad script, it takes a very good actor to make it work.
The stories are generally well thought out. The dialogue is often a bit clumsy, which can make the acting seem hammy at times. That's natural when they have to write scripts for 4 episodes a week.
No Ross kemp just can't fucking act
Ross Kemp is well matched with the likes of Sylvester Stallone ' Bruce Willis ' Arnie ' Jason Statham for machism and physique.
