    Really great job. Your photography is amazing. And you brought back a lot of memories. 47 years ago I did a bicycle tour and camped everywhere you pointed out. Hilo to Hilo in 4 weeks. Punaluu looks amazingly the same. My campsite at Kalapana is now under all that rock you walked on. It was about a quarter mile or so down the road. Gorgeous tiny spot right across from the sand. It was and is a special place. Thanks for sharing. Makes me want to go back one more time. 😊

    Thank you for this amazing video! I went in 2007 for 10 days! I can’t wait to go back! I will add that the hike to the green sand beach was kind of hilly and definitely seems much longer than it actually is
.. well worth the hike though!

    You only really need a 4WD vehicle if you want to drive to the top of Mauna Kea, since it's required and there's a checkpoint, though it's not really that bad of a road so I wouldn't consider it "off-roading". The lava roads you were on are doable by a regular car. Also, per your rental contract, you're not allowed to take a rental car "off road", to include Jeeps, and the road to the Green Sand Beach is so rutted out that a regular Jeep would probably get stuck, definitely don't do that road in your rental Jeep! The most popular car on-island is also not a Jeep, it's a truck, specifically, the Toyota Tacoma. The reason you see a lot of Jeeps is because it's what the tourists rent; it's not what the locals drive. Good recommendation about avoiding a convertible; it's either very hot on one side of the island or raining on the other.

    I lucky to have visited Big Island 2x with family.

    A DEFINITE beach not to be missed: The KENENA BLACK SAND BEACH. Located in the Pohoa/Puna district. Near the Uncle Roberts market, and nearby small town of Puna. Other nearby places to visit: the hot ponds natural volcanic heated wadding ponds!

      If you are not smart with the ocean that can be a bad place. Also plan on no accommodations, cars getting vandalized. We’ve had a bunch of saves down there.

      Hi Summer! I believe so, based on the reading from here, www.usgs.gov/volcanoes/kilauea/recent-eruption, seems like the eruptions (despite large or small) creates lava flowing out from underground vents

    I’m planning a family trip the Big Island (along with Oahu) in October. This video was so helpful! Would you say the hike down to the green sand beach is doable for kids? They are 9 & 11 and are used to moderate hikes.

    • @JasmineWay
      @JasmineWay  Pƙed 2 lety

      Have fun! Yes green sand beach hiking is doable for kids, especially they're used to moderate hikes. The hike is mostly flat, one hour each way. If tired, can always wave at a truck passing by, there'll be many. Don't do it at night when it's not good lighting condition though, as there could be rocks on the round

    • @JasmineWay

      I think so, it'll be super rushed, but you can spend 3-4 hours in the national park, 1 hour on the black sand beach. Leaving time to drive in between

    oves you so much that He sent His Holy Son Jesus from heaven to earth, to be born of a virgin, to grow up and die on a cross for our sins, and to be put into a tomb 3 days and rise from the dead the third day, and He (Jesus) went back up to heaven. We must receive Sinless Jesus sincerely to be God's child(John 1:12).After we get saved by grace through faith in Christ, if we truly love the Lord Jesus Christ, then we will obey Jesus(John 14:15). Mark 1:15 "And saying, the time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: Repent ye, and believe the gospel." Jesus said in John 14:15 "If you love Me, keep My commandments. "There's a real hell. It says in Revelation 21:8 "But for the cowardly, and unbelieving, and abominable, and murderers, and immoral persons and sorcerers and idolaters and all liars, their part will be in the lake that burns with fire and brimstone..." Please sincerely receive Holy Jesus and put your true faith and trust in Him today and please repent.
