And in my view one of the greatest era's of english football. And in those years their were a lot of great players around. And whilst the game has moved on the memories of Denis playing for united will always live on . The likes of Denis will never be seen again , one things for sure he was worth millions. Most Definitely the king of old Trafford.

Denis Law had an knee injury v Poland in 1965 I think it was which took a yard of his pace. Imagine how much greater he would have been and how many more goals he would have scored. The 1963 cup final is evidence of this electric speed he had. God, he was quick !
I am from Manchester but a blue.Law's first season with the Reds was superb.Was it 46 goals he scored in season 62/ 63? His name was on the score sheet every week,to the Blues disgust.I agree with you that he had 5 or 6 seasons where he was effective but I think from then on he was just a shadow of his former self.Denis,as well,had no particular "love" for the game ,and hardly ever watched it on telly,or live.When England were winning the world he was playing golf at Chorlton Golf Course.He always said that the games was a way of earning a living to him and when a match was over he went home and shut the door on it.I think he is just the same now.His daughter recently said he only lasts about 5 minutes when he tries to watch a game then the fidgeting takes over.I have heard similar from several ex- pros in retirement ,about themselves.But Denis was so spectacular he was worth a watch every game.

Yes, a year after that he had his knee operation and missed the European cup final. He was still an excellent player after but not quite the same. He was with Jimmy Greaves probably/possibly the two greatest British goal scorers. But both missed out on their big moment - Greaves with England and the world cup. That's why I think both are not quite appreciated as highly as they should be.

I remember watching the match live on TV at the time . The score flattered England as Scotland were all over them . Denis Law seemed to have a free roaming role as he was in every part of the pitch at some .
An Englishman here. Like John Charles and Jimmy Greaves, Dennis Law went over to Italy and became a much better player because of the experience. A true legend of the game. They were all over England. Is that Peter Lorimer doing keepy ups on the left wing?

When Celtic won the European Cup in 1967, the entire team were local lads. Dundee United have beaten Barcelona four times, twice in the 1960s, and again in the 1980s. Their neighbours Dundee reached the European Cup semi-final in 1962 and now both teams are in a lower league. It is appreciated Nev but times have changed. It looks like the movies now, all whizzy with perfect pitches but it it costs the same as a night at the opera and the players couldn't give a toss about where the club is. And if an english player is walking about injured then so what he shouldnt play at that level if he cant handle the hard men with great skill. And the 1966 world cup? I have read in dozens of books and denis laws too a read and i wasnt shocked to read in great account and detail that it was rigged for england to win it. England in england had to win it, with every game they played in the 4 weeks being at wembley was a big hint strait away and i was only age 11 when i saw that years later. If geoff hurst didnt know that was going to happen then how the fck could a lines man know? And then to say it was a goal but he couldnt possibly have saw it becouse its so clear it didnt cross the line. Total pish!!! It was a bad world cup. Well it was in london what do ye expect with that load in dodgy suits.
