I like the people with more boring cars who have better stories. Like Christopher and Rob
Yeah this story was boring and almost pointless since he wasnt involved nor owned or drove the car
@@dont_at_me__ and also actually knows sweet FA about it or embellishes facts
It is just easier to believe in humanity when a Georgia man is talking about a “lady of the night,” helping him with his driveshaft.
Ok no, not that way, the automotive kind.
Yeah this shit was boring
.....had no idea this car even existed! Was fortunate to spend up-close time with an XJR-15 once. Beautiful in person. Really something to behold. Had no idea this LM existed.
With modern tire compounds and some modern supspension upgrades that car might actually be way less psychopathic then the 90s jaguar test drivers made it out to seem. It was to advanced for the material technology of the time to be ironed out and set up properly. Prob why there is no miles on them. I’d wanna see one gone through by someone who knows what there doing.
This car and the TVR Cerbera Speed 12 I have to both agree on that I want this.
I can’t believe you said psychopathic again…. CRINGEY
I don't know where this urban legend has come from. An XJR-15 owner has told me they're great to drive, not skittish or unpredictable at all.
That said you're right, more advanced stuff like tires alone will help, not to mention if you tweak the kinematics and stiffness of some components.
@@RidinMiles You're very wrong about the tires. Tires have changed significantly since the 90's. Both their structure and their compounds.
I don't know why you think downforce would be a primary concern in handling or whatever you mean is going to 'kill you' either. A car with good mechanical grip, a good chassis balance and a well behaving powertrain does not "always do everything it its power to kill you". You just don't push on the gas too much and you're totally fine. With traction control they can be total pussy cats no matter how much power they have.
@@brendanschnabel188 Psychopathic
Was wondering when he would talk about the LM. I can tell I'm going to enjoy this
Who is this guy? And how did you know he would talk about the LM?
Now this is so unheard content that never really made public. Same like stories of once infamous Japan's Mid Night Club racing, a member at that time before the club was banned was rumored to spend $1M usd for an all carbon fiber body, chassis Porsche turbo 930 chassis. Another crazy story i think was an American during a sanctioned race, hid his tiny NOS system in his small cushion for his lower back pain concerns. Race regulators searched his vehicle, no NOS source to be found, just the NOS hose/valve running from engine thru fire wall to the seat area. Fücken Brillant! I appreciate this Awesome YT VinWiki content for today, Boss!🤙🏽🤙🏽
The Mid Night Racing team never disbanded
@@Saikousoku never heard of a mid night racing team. Intresting.
@@mrd.808 Mid Night Racing Team = Mid Night Club
IIRC, Smokey Yunick did that trick with the NOS in a NASCAR race- putting it in a cushion. When asked about cheating, he is reputed to have said "I've been caught a lot of times, but I also haven't been caught a lot of times."
He speaks about this race car like it's bonkers but he is describing what is essentially a mildly built C8 corvette.
Love TWRs work. Had a TWR XJR myself. Okay, a XJR 3.6 with a TWR body kit 🤣. On another note, was Mr Walkinshaw a good business man. I have heard stories of unpaid employees after liquidation etc.
A few years ago I had an F40 and a XJR-15 wintering in my garage as I was helping a friend. Just.... amazing.
One of my top five favorite cars ever! And how I discovered the Jaguar XJR-15 was from the PS1 game Need for Speed 3: Hot Pursuit and I've loved it every since then! It's one of those cars that no one really talks about.
I came here to say this lol
@@Mrpartyallnight101 Bruh that game is childhood! It also introduced me to the Mercedes Benz CLK GTR alongside Need for Speed: High Stakes on the PS1 as well!
It's quite a good car to drive in Forza Horizon 5

Special era of cars and games.
Kids today wouldn't understand with Mclaren releasing a special edition each week
@@Colby_0-3_IRL_and_title_fights I agree with that 💯 they honestly don't know anything about the cars/racecars of the previous eras. Me growing up seeing the amazing machines of the 90's and early 2000's, Kids nowadays will just know of particular cars because they saw them in a video game, Let's be completely honest there. Btw do you remember the car named the Koeing C62? 😁 Or the tuning company Koeing in general?
TWR also designed the infamous R390 GT-1.
TWR managed bring the engines back to England after Nissan canceled the R390, where they eventually found a new home in the McLaren 12C
Very cool Benetton shirt - nice connection to the XJR
These LM's have a 7.4ltr NA V-12 from the 1991 LeMans Jaguar race car. The XJR-9 LeMans racing car uses a 7.0ltr V-12.
Ed no content is better than this.
Was waiting to hear more about the gangster himself and connection to the car😢
It's a Mr. Matsuda.
Could be the same guy trading heroin for LAW rockets and machine guns in Geneva. God only knows how that guy got extradited to NYC
After hawking cryptocurrency around Japan for a number of years, a court in Florida legally awarded Craig Wright the title of Satoshi Nakamoto, ending the rumors that the Yakuza created crypto. Apples and oranges perhaps, but it raises the question of how the Yakuza were persuaded to give up their stakes, if such a connection ever existed
The XJR-15 LM are track only cars. That being said, these LM's have WAAAAY more horsepower than a Mclaren F1 which is still the fastest NA car.
Way more? A whopping 120HP…
@@CORNERSUNDERATTACK imagine if they twin turbo’d one of these. It might be the fastest car of all time
Do you know why the F1 was the FASTEST NA car? Because it was tested. They logged times. None of that is true for the LM. How fast is it? We have no idea. What is the real top speed? We have no idea. So wtf are you comparing? LOL
@@Wodz30 - maybe because the XJR-15 LM has 120 MORE HORSEPOWER than the Mclaren F1???
Tom Walkinshaw Racing was a racing outfit to include LeMans. They designed the XJR series at LeMans to include the road car.
Maybe the owner of all 5 XJR-15 LM's, from Japan and a Yakuza(mafia), doesn't want to track all 5 cars. Each one currently would fetch over $5 million USD.
@@Wodz30 the experimental prototype car hit those speeds maybe but no customer car ever came close. The Dauer 962 LM was actually faster as well. (Not n/a) but same time period 🙂.
Doesn’t say shit about the yakuza lmao or anything being mysterious. Just says they were drinking and decided to make this car then talks about it being a wild car. Very clickbaity title for how dry the story was
A lot about the jaguar. Not much about the mclaren f1 lm
Agree, its like 15 seconds he talks about it then the rest of the segment talking about the history of the car…. Clickbait
Welcome to VinWiki. It's the automotive equivalent of Vice News, except they tend to leave out all the dirty details that might incriminate them. Hamilton ain't here man...
I love the show, hope to see some car folks at Defcon this year.
XJR15 was my favorite on gran turismo 2
I like this guy when.he said he is not scared to drive any car
Tell us about how the engine screams behind your head again one more time I think I missed that part
This guy has some awesome stories he should have Ficarra come on and tell them jklol love the channel
No JK. Ficarra could have told this story way more interestingly.
Most underrated car of the 90s! XJR 15 is amazing.
OMG, HIT PAUSE AT 3:00.
Best to you Scott🏁
BRG LM PHOTO ❤
A gangster or mobster is a business person.. Thats all like a politician.. Thats all. Great video!
Just like the Porsche CGT. Modern tires, modern suspension, modern track data that's now common that drivers use to determine what a car with X,Y, and Z on it will do on a track, I think would make these cars less psychotic than what was the case back then. The other issue with these cars I that they didn't generate enough downforce and the wheel base was too narrow. But who knows.
There's nothing wrong with the Carrera GT or a dodge viper for example...... You just have to be Walter Rohrl to be able to drive it....For God sakes The Carrera GT Is basically a road legal le Mans prototype chassis with an F1 engine ........ Only a very few humans can technically be able to drive that car.....
I'd rather watch paint dry than listen to this guy tell another story
lmao, same
I say bye won't be missed
I am absolutely shocked to see the XJR-15 get mentioned on VinWiki, well, only a short time before values sky-rocket now, should definitely look to bringing Jordan Roddy (XJR-15 specialist) onto an episode
Jordan would be great on The channel. He’s just too busy quietly finding cars!
Nobody's buying this car
They made less than 100 of them and less than half of that were even road legal
I saw a yellow one at the 2022 NYC car show
If the original 450 bhp could hit 60 in 3.9 then what could this fire breathing 750 bhp do?
I have really enjoyed his stories.
What a beautiful car!
I find this car to be quite underrated, nice to see it return in Forza Horizon 5.
The whole time I was like man that looks like a mclaren
Is the audio quality off for just me? I just want to make the guys aware if not :)
No he was just that boring.
Cool story. Jaguar supercars never get enough time in the spotlight. Such cool cars.
Great video but really interesting edits
This guy could benefit from a thesaurus.
The design of the McLaren f1 is based on the XJR15
It isn't actually
is this where the Saikou XS originally got it's idea from?
Question about the XJ220 - you always hear stories about how they are never driven because people cannot get tires for them. I know they have wide tires, but is there anything preventing an owner from buying custom rimes (IE 3 piece rims) so they can get a tire size that is in production and of a similar size to the stock tire? I've always wondered that.
Custom rims with stock tires wouldn't be hard to get hold of. The problem is that some of those cars' value is because of their low miles. There are so few of these cars that putting a few miles on won't matter much but if one was to start racking up miles by the thousands it would lose value. There's also the problem that parts generally don't exist either.
They have recently made new tires for the XJ220. I remember something from Don Law who is currently the guy to go to for XJ220/XJR-15
@@bwofficial1776 Thanks, the low mileage makes sense. The tire situation is usually the first comment you hear about this car, and it's odd because if you have XJ220 money, some custom 3 piece rims and tires shouldnt really break the bank. Was thinking maybe the different tires wouldnt play nice with the traction control systems.
@@Keith.M.Westra thanks! if i ever get my hands on one, I will know where to go :)
@@gaveintothedarkness doubt the xj220 has any traction control systems on it, probably had abs and thats about it, if it did have tc i reckon it would of been a stupidly simple system that probably wouldnt be affected by different tyres

I read somewhere that the 7.0 liter V12 only lasted 3000 miles because it was a race engine. Can anyone confirm? Insane

@@amacca2085 it’s true though
wouldnt suprise me race engines generally will need rebuilding every now and then but lets face it i cant imagine many xjr15s have even done 3000miles in there entire existance!

You want me to come over and tell you the story of the Jiotto Caspita supercar? Well, anyone can tell that story, and it's worth telling: I mean it is after all the story of a women's underwear manufacturer's (Wacoal) president (not impossible that he's also a member of Yakuza) contracting Dome to build a car with his hired design people (he formed a company Jiotto Design for that), that had a very advanced aluminium-carbon fibre monocoque (in 1989!!), active rear wing...powered by a Formula 1 flat 12 and manual of course!! Well that engine became unavailable for production so they had to replace it with a Judd V10, also a racing engine.
In the end only one was made as the economic bubble burst, and no wonder since the projected sales price would've been slightly higher than the record price set by the McLaren F1! Or I'm not sure if there were two made: they made at least one original example with the Subaru/Motori Moderni flat 12 F1 engine, and then in 1993 either they modified the original or built another one with the Judd V10.
It was BEAUTIFUL, and sounded like an amazing recipe for a supercar! I consider it to be among the most beautiful cars in history, and it being such a pure NA manual lightweight car makes it very droolworthy.
And note: the Jiotto Caspita is basically very much the car that Porsche made with their Carrera GT. Especially the latest V10-powered Jiotto Caspita is SO SIMILAR to the Carrera GT, except the Jiotto is far more beautiful! The concept of it being a road-legal Group C race car, the carbon construction, the pushrod suspension (based on what I can see in the videos the design looks to be very similar, just change the Caspita's rear subframe from aluminium to carbon and they could be the same car...), the race car derived V10, the manual gearbox, centre lock wheels, almost identically raising rear wing...the similarities are surely not a coincidence!
A video of the Jiotto Caspita from their promotional Laser Disc: czcams.com/video/3MQB0fvrwSs/video.html
Actually there were two cars made. And I can confirm first one built had the Motori Moderni engine while the second one with a redesigned look had the JUDD V10. As for their respective whereabouts, the first one is currently on display at Motorcar Museum of Japan while the second chassis is at DOME Co Ltd's HQ.
@@Scid34 Thanks so much for the info! I'm really wanting to go to Japan again after a long time, now I have one more reason: the Motorcar Museum of Japan!
Do you happen to know if the public has access to the Dome HQ to see the Jiotto Caspita #2?
@@pistonburner6448 I am not entirely sure. At times they have it on display at the lobby and sometimes in a room alongside other DOME projects. Not sure if that room is open to public or not

I'd say more than 15 million you're talking about one of the most expensive cars in the world and with no miles
Heck playing Gran Turismo 7 the feaking thing cost $19 million and they're trying to make real world prices on there. And this one is completely different
Hey Ed 😃
That was time I'll never get back

I’m I the only one who is confused with this video
I take back everything I thought about the XJR-15, the king of anecdotes Jeremy Clarkson basically shat on them and I believed him, and then later seeing how slow it was on the Best Motoring channel cemented that. I was wrong to think that way.
Race cars tend to have incredibly tall gear ratios that wouldn't make sense on a street car. Top speed is the inverse of acceleration
