  • The Riese & Müller Packster 70 is back for 2023! With improved handling, and the option of ‘Control Technology’, which is Riese & Müller’s synonym for a full-suspension electric bike, as well as a number of other new features, this is one of the best electric family cargo bikes on the market.
    We took a trip to the Riese & Müller factory in Germany to meet with Head of Development, Felix Ströder, to learn about the new features and test ride the Packster 70.
    A newly designed headrest works with the foldable double child seat, creating a safe and comfortable ride for small cargo. The ‘Control Technology’ option creates a full suspension cargo bike that commands comfort and stability on unforgiving urban roads, whilst also letting you venture off-road.
    With the ability to transport up to 3 children or one person, the Bosch powered Packster 70 is a versatile and efficient option for family transport in a variety of environments.

    Would be the perfect combo to have one of these and a Load75 - depending on the days adventures 🤙

      It would be the dream wouldn't it! The sporty geometry of the Load does make it a true adventure warrior... but you can't ignore the pure class of the Packster 70. It's such a good looking bike!

    How about a comparison with the CAGO FS200? The low step through of the Urban Arrow and FS200 do make a big difference on these kinds of bikes. The Riese and Mueller range would be perfect with it

      Here’s the thing. RM and UA own and dominate this space - they have the ultimate experience and truly specialise in this premium car replace space - and although the Cago, (and other great newcomers like gazelle maki) are good on paper and it’s nice to ride and well thought out, my confidence is defo in these more experienced ecargo producing companies with huge R&D budgets and long histories and timeframes producing with years and years of feedback. And also the behaviour and ethos of these 2 companies in particular is astonishing and they really stand out and own the space. The difference in between rm snd urban arrow cargo bikes is then simple. It’s based on price, style, practicality and luxury, and these points are easy to understand. But personally I wouldn’t consider anything else apart from the best when it comes to carrying my children on a daily basis. But it’s a difficult call between a control load and a control packster. I am currently using the packster after 2.5 years in a load 60. And we like the packster a lot!

      @@benjaconelli5021 The CAGO has won. Red Dot award for design as have the Urban Arrow and I think the Riese and Mueller bikes. I think would be fair to say they are competing with each other

      It would be fair if they could actually supply a finished bike. Currently they are about 1 year behind schedule, they were supposed to deliver the first customer bikes to the UK in September 2022 and we spent 2/3 days testing the product and shooting videos back in may 2022. Red dot award if for design, and for “almost ready products”. My point is RM and UA have had several years + of usage data and propper experience which is extremely valuable. And RM have been producing bikes for 25 years +.

      @@benjaconelli5021Despite 25 years of experience building bikes R&M had to recall the packster 70 due to safety concerns. They did the right thing and the new design is clearly excellent but they are not infallible. CaGo can't keep up with demand apparently. Urban Arrow keep things pretty simple and efficient with their builds.

    The problem with the enviolo is that lower gear inches are not suitable for steep hills.

    Full suspension helps a LOT in cities with rough roads and poorly built bicycle infrastructure with gutters, dips and humps all over the place.

    Thank you for these videos. I went to test ride a load 75 today getting ready for purchase. After getting home and looking for more indo I see now that the packster available with control tech. If possible can you tell me why I should choose the load 75 over a packster with control tech? 2 children 1 and 3, thank you,

      @FullychargedUK  Před rokem

      Hey there, thanks for getting in touch. You're right in thinking the new Packster 70 doesn't have a Rohloff option. Currently the new Bosch Smart System models are not compatible with Rohloff gearing, however the Load 60 and Load 75, as well as the rear-loading MultiCharger GT (non-Smart System), models do still have the option of the Rohloff package.

    • @moosejaw50
      @moosejaw50 Před rokem

      @@FullychargedUK Except the Packster is not a smart system. The smart system is not dual battery ready (yet). The packster is a standard Gen 4 Bosch drive train and they can integrate the Rolhoff if they choose.
      You may have confused with Load 4 which is a smart system and single battery.
