427 2 door post car!!!! super, super rare. the FE series motors are the most beautiful motors to come out of my home town, Detroit. what a super nice car man, love that gree metallic. my dad had A 66 fairlane, 427 toploader 4 speed, he used to race at Detroit dragway. he even beat Huston Martin (RIP) (Harold Martin's dad) in a trophy class once. it was a raggedy POS looking car but that 427 was a screamer.

A 67 car with a better 66 steering wheel, super super cool. Also, the radio-delete dash is one of my all-time favorite things. Awesome vid Evan and just an absolutely bad-ass car!

    • @P_RO_
      @P_RO_ Před 2 lety

Ditto on both, the padded 67 horn was rather ugly to me, and the radio-delete dash a rarity. Wish I had another one in any version as these 66 and 67 Fairlanes are my all-time favorite cars.
What originally held these back was tires; the Fairlane's stock rear wheel-wells are narrow and the unibody construction makes changes there tougher in the classes which allow that. When rubber technology found a way to make the tires stick these Fairlanes came into their own spanking almost all the other muscle cars soundly; they're a lot lighter than they look. The Fairlanes were common but the 427 versions are scarce and those had some unique chassis changes and specific parts specs so know what you're doing if you're looking for an original as there are fakes out there.

OMFG, that slow-motion launch!!! Those sidewalls wrinkling!! THE WHEEL-LIP WAS 1-2 INCHES FROM THE TRACK SURFACE ON THE HIT!!! That was f'ing sick! Looked like a little wheel-hop or shake later in the tire-spin, especially on the passenger side, though.
One of my friends had a dark blue '66-'67 two door sedan like that, but it was a 289. He had some HiPo heads and an intake and Holley 4 barrel on it, but it was always put away and I never heard it run.

    • @danmyers9372

One of the all time greats and one of my favorites!
One almost exactly like it was for sale in our local Greensheets when I went shopping for my first car.
It had the side oiler and a spare 428CJ to go with it. Light weight factory panels and all for $3,300.
    That's 33 hundred NOT Thousand.
Since I was only 16 and only managed to scrape up $700 working summer jobs, I bought a beat up 65 fast back instead that had been used for circle track, which I still have today (project). My parents (thank god) did not just give you stuff, you had to earn it.

    "Waldos old car.
I live in PNW and seen his 67 stocker, 40 years ago , he set the record 1st Stock car in NHRA to go 10's. He was flat good with a factory 4 sp and factory std shifter assembly, IMO easily as Ronnie Sox, with conventional floor linkage shifter.
The ERA Jim Van Cleve his two fairlanes.
That big boat of a car FLEW!!!
In the 78 Fall classic in Seattle, I witness Jim's car go rear bumper scrape wheelie in 3RD Gear!!! Unprecedented beast Power machine! It was a 9 second Fairlane , way beyond his years. In 1978, nobody else anywhere was doing this.
Then, Dennis Miller in Mid Oregon , his white 427 Fairlane. He was good too, Fast 427 car.
Then My 67 Fairlane, 428 powered car, ran 12.00's with a basic no nothin daily driver type street engine.
I Won a lot of races in the ERA . Loved going to races those guys showed up.
It was for decades, typical the Ford 428 Engines, dominated drag racing in winning in the tracks in the area.
I was fortunate to be part of it. Wasn't the fastest yet was one guy ppl Didn't was to see pull thru the gates car on the old flat bed trailer.
Still have the 427 fender emblems from the early 70's.
