Danny Southworth - Barum Beef | Exeter Chiefs Rugby Tribute

- Having ascended through the age groups at Barnstaple RFC, as well as developing his game while on loan to Coventry last season, Danny Southworth is poised to make an impact off the bench in his first European game against Bayonne later today.
Utilizing his imposing North Devonian frame to full effect, Southworth has proven to be a strong ball carrier, reliable tackler and a dangerous finisher from close-range; epitomizing Exeter's reliance on forwards from five metres out.
On a personal note, I had the pleasure of playing against Danny during an Under 12s vs. 13s friendly for Barnstaple many years ago. Danny made an excellent line-break and was running straight towards me. It's usually incumbent on the fullback to tackle a player before he makes more ground but, being a quintessentially hesitant fly-half, I found myself taking a step backward. Followed by another step. And another step. To my relief, a teammate came in from Danny's left and made a brilliant covering tackle. Even then, I knew he'd go far.
Here's his tribute!

Don`t know much about him but looks a decent signing for Cardiff.
I think he'll be right at home with the Blues.
He never really escaped the trap of being second or third choice prop, bar one or two starts, so this is secretly a very wise move from Danny.
Obviously I'll miss him as a Chief, and also because we both played at the same grassroots club. 😂
Thanks for watching and commenting!
Love this!
Thanks again, Joe! Great player, isn't he? Let's hope he scores a beauty against Bayonne tonight!
