Brett Connon - True North | Newcastle Falcons Rugby Tribute
Amidst a plethora of departing players, Brett Connon recently pledged his commitment to his boyhood club; signing a two-year contract extension that will guarantee more highlights from him as a Newcastle Falcon.
From his sinuous overhead passes to his trusty boot, Connon has been one of my favourite players to watch. Whilst the cultural zeitgeist obsesses over Fin Smith, Marcus Smith et al, I'm just here to appreciate his interception against Bristol.
What can we expect from Connon in his forthcoming years at Kingston Park? Hopefully this tribute will provide a glimpse!

Playing under the tutelage of veteran prop Joe Marler, protegee Fin Baxter is quickly establishing himself as the bright future of Harlequins and England Rugby's scrummaging endeavours. What do you think of Brett Connon? Do you agree that he's the Premiership's most underrated fly-half? Comment below!
What do you think of Fin Baxter? Will he come off the bench against New Zealand? Comment below!
UPDATE CONCERNING TRIBUTE: As you can probably tell, this tribute ends abruptly and is missing highlights from the final. Owing to the fact that Premiership Rugby hate content creators, and despite my best efforts to reference Fair Use, they gave me no choice but to remove the final minutes of footage. I could have deleted this tribute completely as it's now a compromised version, but I worked too hard for it be simply removed. As a result, it stays up and hopefully it'll not only enjoy continued viewership, but also guide fans to the non-copyrighted version linked at the end. Sorry to all Saints fans, and rugby fans in general, for Premiership Rugby not understanding Fair Use.
For his price he was definitely signing of the year
Definitely tied between him and Finn Russell. Thanks for watching and commenting!
@@StanWilks Agree Finn Russel has been magic but cost an arm and a leg
@@alfieb30 Wouldn't mind a few star signings at Chiefs, to be honest. 😂
What do you think of Juan Martin Gonzalez? Was he your signing of the year? Comment below!
Don`t know much about him but looks a decent signing for Cardiff.
I think he'll be right at home with the Blues. He never really escaped the trap of being second or third choice prop, bar one or two starts, so this is secretly a very wise move from Danny. Obviously I'll miss him as a Chief, and also because we both played at the same grassroots club. 😂 Thanks for watching and commenting!
Great work Stan love these keep it up, as good as Andrew Forde's videos.
That is very high praise in my eyes, James. Don't know if I deserve it. 😂 Thanks for watching and commenting!
Hope you do a Curtis Langdon or Ted Hill comp. Both should be in the England squad
Both fantastic players! I'll keep Curtis Langdon in mind this summer. Thanks for the recommendation. As for Ted Hill, I've already covered him. Here's the link if you're interested: czcams.com/video/KFxMAmYvi0o/video.htmlsi=V7UDaj6wfovNCAOY Thanks for watching and commenting!
Great work as always Stan! Think the 9 shirt for England is in great hands with the likes of Spencer and Mitchell with Randall not too far behind, look forward to the next video!
Very kind of you, mate! Exciting times, indeed. My guess is Mitchell will start with Spencer on the bench for the All Blacks tests. Randall against Japan??? Thanks for watching and commenting, Josh. Juan Martin Gonzalez up next!
@StanWilks in my opinion depends on who the fly half is, I think if Marcus starts Spencer should start 9. The reason Mitchell and Finn work so well is because they balance each other out having both Mitchell and Marcus might make some exciting attacking rugby but loses a little bit of textbook play but hey could but talking nonsense and they could both smash it, fingers crossed anyway!
@@joshdnorris1994That's a very good point. Didn't think of M. Smith and Spencer as a partnership. F. Smith and Mitchell does have that continuity to it!
What do you think of Ben Spencer? What will his role be in this England squad as the New Zealand tour fast approaches? Comment below!
How dare I try to grow the game legally and non-financially! 😂 This is an updated version omitting material watermarked by Rugby on TNT Sports in the final third. Everything is exactly the same bar one or two altered shots and it being a few seconds shorter. Sorry for the inconvenience. I hope you enjoy it regardless!
I fully agree! If we get back to back wins with this coaching group, then we need a big statue of the coaching team!
Don't forget the George Hendy grandstand!
Well, the way that he is playing. He's like a fast ghost. Players just can't get hold of him. He is one to watch for England.
Congratulations to everyone involved at Saints and their incredible fans. Enjoy your victory! What players do you think will be called up for their respective countries this summer? Comment below!
Superb work, Stan! I think that it is highly likely that we will see Iyogun, Langdon, Davidson, Millar-Mills, Mayanavanua, Coles, Augustus, Mitchell, F. Smith, Dingwall, Freeman and Furbank selected for international duties. I'd hope to see R. Smith selected for Scotland and Graham for England but they may need another season. I also wonder about Scott Young and Ramm, thinking that they will be even better next season with more playing time, as a result of the players moving on. COYS!!
@@TC-lq7cuThanks for watching and commenting, my friend! Considering your reply, I think the whole Saints squad should go on tour. Have a sneaky feeling they'd actually do pretty well. 😂 Really excited about seeing more of Fin Smith as an international!
@@StanWilks I think that now that Ford is not touring, Fin will have his opportunity for the number 10 starting shirt. He is superb! reminds me of young Wilko!
@@TC-lq7cuHe certainly plays like a young Wilko. To think he's a Premiership winner after just two seasons for Saints is incredible. F. Smith starts. M. Smith off the bench. Two very different players who play very different styles!
@@StanWilks Not even two seasons for Saints. He started late in last season, as Biggs left, so even more impressive! This coaching team are sublime!!
He has had a great season. Definitely an X-factor player!!
And this tribute only scratched one third of it! Would love to see him hit the Seevens circuit. Think his bread-loaf attitude to carrying the ball would be awesome to see in that code. Thanks for watching and commenting!
*Wales Rugby
Plenty of highlights made by Josh himself featuring his tries for Wales. Not my fault he chose England. 😂 Thanks for watching and commenting!
@@StanWilks Yeah, just enjoying this one after Feyi-Waboso turned his back on us tbh. Looks a great prospect from this video.
@@geraintcriddle7491 Both fantastic players. You never know. If it's any consolation, I felt the same way when Nick Thompkins chose Wales. Wales definitely needs Josh more than England does.
Great work mate, I'm sure he'll be a big part of England's plans going forward. Any plans for a Fin Baxter tribute?
Thanks, Glen! Great to hear from you again. He's still wet behind the ears but Opoku-Fordjour would be my wild card choice for England's summer squad. You never know! As for Fin Baxter, I'll have to make him one of my summer projects. All Things Rugby also inquired about a tribute of him, so clearly he's in need of one. Thanks for watching and for the recommendation!
Massively underrated player. He's the glue that sticks a backline together and allows others to shine.
Perfectly stated. Couldn't have put it better myself. He's living proof that size shouldn't matter when you tackle as hard and pass as well as Dingwall does. Thanks for watching and commenting!

What do you think of Fraser Dingwall? Can we expect more brilliance from him against Saracens tonight? Comment below!
Seems to have lost a little pace? Still has the power.
Having seen him play live at Sandy Park, I promise you that he can still get around a defender or two. He's definitely bulked up, as well. Thanks for watching and commenting!
So underrated
A Chiefs legend. Also was a great laugh to collaborate with when I did work experience at Sandy Park. Thanks for watching and commenting!
I think we've got a bit of an obsession with size at 12 for England. But England's best matches over the last 30 years have all been with a distributor at 12. Any future players, need to nail the passing first.
Very good point, my friend. Ford/Farrell, Wilkinson/Catt and Andrew/Carling being some of the more famous examples. Perhaps Fraser Dingwall is the answer? I'm working on a tribute of him as we speak. Stay tuned for that. Thanks for watching and commenting!

@@George-gd1eqLove the emphatic simplicity. 😂
Think with Earl at 8, Borthwick will only take one specialist 8 in Dombrandt. But he’s one for the future. A back row of: 6. Cunningham-South 7. Guy Pepper 8. Greg Fisilau Would be unreal for post RWC 2027

@@Gordonoke2009I did. Great memories. But I stopped playing when I turned 14; at that point tackling became very optional for me. Always preferred the kicking side of the game. 😂 Of course I don't! This was for him. It's his video, as far as I'm concerned.
He formed a brilliant partnership with Semi. Fearless tackler and a great distributor. His only weakness was his kicking game. He will be a major asset for Connaught
Agreed on all fronts. It was the one area of his game that proved difficult to research, even across six seasons as a Bear. He more than makes up for that with everything else, though. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Please may you do a Greg Fisilau video??
