Jim, Brenda youre so kind to your horses. Even grooming is so unstressful. Thanks for showing me how you do it. Love ya's❤
Lady and Bree are inspring to me and make me happy !
Bree is the calmest foal I have seen.
Mr Jim remains me of my dad he didn’t say much but when he did you listen. My dad passed away almost 18 years ago. He was a farmer and a smart man. Mrs Brenda you are so patient with Mr. Jim. You are a beautiful woman and I bet you knock Mr Jim sock off in the early days. Love watching you two. Keep it up. I also love watching Abby. Y’all are good people. 🥰
Ladies coat is so shiny and full of dapples. Very happy and healthy mother hosre
I love it, Brenda just can’t help herself when it comes to Bree, it’s all kisses & smooches, so so cute but shh, don’t let Jim know lol 😂
Good one today! Its interesting to see horses be horses and not always do what you tell them. Just a little naughty ❤❤
Bree is learning the ropes from mom. She is beautiful, Brenda I love how you groom the horses. Bree is learning so well, she is a smart girl❤
I had to laugh at the changing stalls. Those horses are funny.
I have to admit that when I first saw that Jim was going to put Lady back to work and leave Bree back at the barn, my stomach did a flip-flop. I just thought that it would be so terrible for Bree. I have a lot of horse experience, and I’ve seen where that can really cause a lot of long term separation anxiety for a baby horse.
I don’t know what it is about the way Jim does everything he does, but things just work out when he does something new with the horses I am so impressed with both Lady and Bree and how they handle it.
I had similar hesitancy about some of Barron’s driving jobs that he’s been doing. So many times I kept thinking that he’s going to run away when Jim is driving him, but he doesn’t. He looks like a horse ready to explode, yet he does everything Jim asks, and he’s gotten so much better about standing still when he stops . It really is just some thing about how Jim does things.
Jim simply has that gift of knowing how to do things and when to do things. Everything works out!
Right on about Jim's way of knowing. In addition draft horses are just so much easier going than your typical smaller horses. They can be easier to handle and can take to new situations with grace. Bree is naturally hanging out away from her mother now, working Lady is the next step.
His horses are eager to please because `they are treated with respect all the time.
Brenda does a great job of visually covering every aspect of what goes on with the horses, their care and their work. Modern technology provides so many benefits for viewers: clear videos, overhead drone perspectives, wireless microphones and everything needed to enhance the experience. But when Brenda featured a closeup of the bucket of manure being dumped into the spreader, I was thankful for one bit of technology that we don't yet have: Smell-A-Vision!
franksmith horse manure doesn't smell bad to me, but I love horses. Now cow manure texture & smell is another thing!
@@kimcwhite6509 Me too! There's not a lot of protein in their food, so not much in their poop. It's protein that produces that sulfurous smell.
@@cattymajiv aha, I didn't know that! You are right, especially dairy cattle because of their rich diet
@@kimcwhite6509 Yup! Silage stinks even before it passes through the cow!
I love seeing the playfulness of Bree. I grew up with horses and we often had several foals out at pasture with their mothers. They were always full of mischief and a joy to be around.
Absolutely loved watching Bree with Brenda! Bree knows what she wants, backing up for more brushing. Priceless!! All the horsing around 😂😂😂. Have a wonderful weekend.
PS you can send that rain to Texas, we need it
I can tell from week to week how much Bree is growing. She's in a growth spurt now! I think Bill is so happy having his Lady working next to him! And Bree is understanding her mama will be back soon after she leaves for work! I was a working mom too Lady, and it sad leaving our baby to go work!😘 I'm sure Baron enjoys his time off work occasionally since Lady is joining the workforce again! You all have a great weekend, and I'll see you back on Monday noontime!👋
I can see that Bree is getting a little feisty trying to spin around putting her rump to you and it looks like she is going to kick Brenda. Glad to see that Brenda is on the look out for that. Bree is growing so fast and she is so cute. Thanks again for all of your hard work to share these videos with us but your fans out here applaud you for all that you do. God bless and keep safe from hot sunny Florida
Missing Buck adore to see return Lady work with Bill a gain. Love Bree also very much ! Love and greetings to you all.
Bree is really growing she is just stunning what a beauty . Love the way you guys look after your horses nothing left to chance everything done properly Bill and Lady look great together I can hear you also have swallows in your barn the real sound of summer 😊
I am so happy I found your channel. Another awesome video!! Thank you!!
I agree with you Jim, I've always been told not to let a foal nurse when the mare is hot. Also, enjoyed seeing the horses doing the unexpected. You think you know what they will do but first and foremost they are horses and will try to get away with things.. Great video!
Horse antics always fun. Thanks for the video.
My grandfather farmed in Iowa with horses in the 1920's, 30's and 40's, and my mothwr used to tell me how proud he was of his horses and the care he took of them, so it's really a pleasure and a privilege to watch your videos. Gives me a better understanding of the pleaseures and challenges of my grandparent's (and mother's!) life farming with horses. Thank you!
The plural of 1920 is 1920s. 😉
@@thierrytalon8600 Yes it is, but we also don't need to be spelling Nazis.
Bree has such a large personality! It is going to be fun watching her grow! Wow Baron is look like a bodybuilder 😅
Like that the other end of the barn is open for them to come in out of fly's. 😅 they are dapled, shiny, well exercised, or restng, and properly cared for Jim. . Brenda im glad you told us that Baron was in the field, n looked on while takin th e day off.😊
The horses are so shiny, well done Brenda!
Nice to see the team back together
I am always taken back by how gorgeous Lady is. Literally breathtaking. Her baby is too.
Brenda, I sure hope Jim appreciates you for those up close and personal shots of the manure flying out of the spreader lol. I was ducking from it at home just like you were. And I know the smell is just so "lovely" lol
Would love to see more of Brenda’s brushing and chat and stuff around the house and garden.
Absolutely - the garden and the chickens!
I wish you could bottle and share Brenda’s positivity and enthusiasm for life! Thank you for another lovely video!
This was a great video. I can’t help but be amused when the horses don’t do what you asked. Guess they have their own ideas too. Little Brea is so pretty and her Mom is lovely. Stay safe. ❤
Brenda your a good wife and a hard worker! I bet you run ten miles a day filming your videos! Jim your a hard worker and a very blessed man to have the life that you do.

Really enjoyed catching up on your morning. Hope y'all have a few dry days to get some haying done. Bree is getting very precocious!
I had to laugh the other day because I was watching Homestead Horsemanship and he, JR, was saying how much he admired Jim and Brenda on his video. I had just finished watching one of your videos. He basically got his first draft horse, a Clydesdale, and also raises and trains Missouri Fox Trotters.
LOL I saw that too!
@@suzanneyoung8011 As did I! 😊
I love JR, his family, and his horses! I must have missed a video while I was under the weather this week, because I didn't see that one. I will have to go and get caught up on my favorite channels, especially the horse channels that warm my heart so much! I miss Oliver a lot after just a few days! ❤❤❤
Those apple trees!!! Wow!!! A bumper crop!!! ❤️
❤️❤️🥰😂😘🤣😪👌🤨😁🤗
That filly is so pretty
I love how Jim is so serious, no nonsense, let's get to work and no playing around. Brenda is the exact opposite, loving, talks to the horses, pets them. When Jim does joke, it's great. What a great team.
That is so funny! the foal pushing her rump toward the brusher.
Precious moments like mum horse and daughter horse nosing each other, need to be caught on camera. I love this. ❤❤❤❤❤❤
I did enjoy it have a blessed weekend
Jim, Brenda, Great video. So nice to see Bill & Lady together again. Bree is do so great, Brenda, I love watching you brush Lady and bree backs herself right into you, and push you away. She is something!! Jim, Nova Scotia, Canada, Hi to Trudy and Abby...
My sister and I are both in our 60's+. And I dont dare watch a new video with out her. We both love horses and miss living on a farm. Thanks for sharing yours with us. Today it helped take my sisters mind off of having her pickup stolen. We appreciate all the work that goes into sharing with us. Bless you both.
I love the spunk bree has, my uncle's clydesdale used to alway's fall asleep when you brushed her, we alway's had to bring a crutch in with us so when she leaned side to side we didn't get squished between her and the stall wall
That was fun watching the horse drama! Brie is just as cute as ever
I follow a site called Free Spirit Equestrian who goes to horse auctions often. The auctions have lots of draft horses. After years of watching your horses it hurts to see the hungry uncared for drafts at the auctions. Your horse aren't afraid and they know they are safe, always. You keep them in sterling condition, they shine even before you brush them! All the horses you have made a home for are so lucky. Oh well. I can just hear Bree yelling "my turn my turn my turn!".
The horse drama at the end was the best. I think they have horse shenanigans sometimes but we just don’t get to see it. It’s all 💕 love.
Colts looking great 👍
Lady doing well leaving filly unattended for a bit.
Brenda, you're taking Bree's space! I always show the Wife Bree, she loves her!
❤❤❤ I love the foal. She is so cute. She makes me laugh. 😁❤️❤️❤️❤️
Today was a great time seeing Bree hanging out in her stall while mummy was working. Brenda and Jim you take good care of your horses. Have a wonderful weekend. I just can’t wait for your next video. Love ❤️ from Ontario Canada 🇨🇦
I’m in Ontario too! 🇨🇦
I'm in Ontario too.
Foals do that. They love to give attitudes. However, they are young. Work with them to get the attitudes out, getting them used to stuff, the better. My family did that on our foals. They turned out be great horses grown up. ❤❤❤❤❤ Great job yall
Horses definitely have personalities, and you both know how to deal with them!
Thank you again. I really enjoy . And love the little unexpected moment. Bree is getting strong. So cute ..
R Kruse
Brenda, when you were bushing Lady that wall behind you has a bolt sticking out, if Lady was to move sideway you could be push into it. Jim should saw it off for your safety.
I hope you get some dry weather soon Jim and Brenda
Prayers 🙏 for you to be able to dry the and harvest the hay.❤
PG here, We also have about 5 or 6 Big Bags up around our yard. They do work well. Last Year at this time we were organizing Ohio to Pray for the Electors and the Elections, and we had one of the J sixers speaking Here. He went to preach the gospel on J 6. He kept his horse, Red here overnight in one of our pig pens. (no pigs in there). His horse was really a darker Red. I thought of him when thinking of Bree's color. I thought these are real "working" horses while Red was mostly for riding. There is a big difference in size. The hay being moved reminded me, Did you paint your picnic table, Brenda? Can you show us your garden harvest when you get a good haul? Great shot at the end with Lady at your shoulder.
Hey Jim, I've noticed you don't have a back rest on your cart. I would have thought you would want one, but I guess not !! Just a thought !! Onwards and Upwards !! The horses seem to really enjoy being brushed by Brenda - or anyone probably ?
Bri is such a cute little stinker! Her personality is really coming out. She's so adorable. Lady seems very happy to be working again. Great video! 💖💜💖😊
Glad to see you both back Jim back on U-tube showing your outstanding draft horses working again Had a very bad summer Had a few broken ribs from a very bad event a few weeks ago Like to come and see your horses some time
Mama & Bree talking! So sweet!! 💕
❤️😂🤣👌🤨😁🤗🥰😘😪
I love horses, these big ones are my favorite. Never got to own any myself, but always admired them from a distance❤
Brenda, I hope the camera distorts how close your are to the manure spreader. Looks like your being pelted with “stuff” 😅. You may need full, PPE for those “sweet” closeup shots 😂
Bree is growing so fast, thanks for sharing ❤
lBree's confirmation is so perfect
Another PERFECT video. Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful horses and your awesome life. Totally amazing to watch. And.... I loved when Lady and Bill got silly at the end. Delightful!!!
Loved the barn time! So good to have fly traps
I love watching Jim work with the horses. He is firm, but always kind to them.
Lady is a beautiful mare and her daughter is hilarious with manoeuvred to keep her mother with her. Due to the lovely handling Bree used her manners.
She is going to be so dark and pretty she will be a stunner and more broke than most horses at just 6 months I’ll warrent with all the commotion so very good for her you do a great job Brenda! Keep up the good work. Wev3 been having rain here in colorado too just pouring which is very unusual. Jim is so goood and cautious
Oh Brenda: 😂😂😂😂😂😂 I'm still laughing, oh golly. Watching little Bree backing up, following you, to get you to brush her butt, (while you're brushing Lady) was absolutely the most precious thing I've ever seen. I'm still out of breath from laughing so hard. What an adorable personality she has, bless her heart. God bless.
@@killacommieformommy2511 I didn't notice her ears back. That is definitely a sign of aggravation. Thank you for correcting me. Of course, I do not take it as a sign of meanness. I'm sure you were just enlightening me. God bless.
Lady looks like she’s ‘jogging’ towing that spreader, 😊
Lady has a beautiful coat color 🌸 it would be awesome to see the colts duke & earl if you could show us a little bit of video of them 🐴🐴 😊
Gorgeous horses!
Hi Jim and Brinda, I think your right Brinda. Nice to be a little water and not so dry, we have to Irigate Crops out West, we could use a little more Raine and snow her in Western Colorado. But Not quite as much as you-re enjoying.
Brenda, just an FYI. From about 2:01 until you stepped around the other side of Lady, Bree was toying with the idea of crow hopping and kicking you. Particularly around 2:51, she was really thinking about it. She wanted attention and you weren't giving it, and she was getting mad! You can tell what she was thinking because of the backing into you and laying her ears back. This is something young horses do with each other, and with mama, but they have to be taught not to do it to you. Getting kicked by a foal is not fun, especially at our age. They don't have the power of a big horse, but they have smaller feet so it equates to more pounds per square inch. If she does it to mama, you can bet she'll get nipped in the butt. If she does it to another horse, she'll likely get kicked in the ribs. I learned a long time ago that the quickest way to stop it is to cup your hand and slap them in the belly. It won't do much more than sting, but it makes a big noise if your hand is cupped, and sounds like hooves hitting ribs. It usually startles them enough that they don't want to do it again for a while. Basically, you are tapping into their instincts because you are mimicking what another horse would do to them for such behavior. Basically, if it isn't going to be cute when she is 1600 lbs, it isn't cute now.
I've never heard of not letting foals nurse when the mare is hot, but that doesn't mean it isn't correct. I haven't worked mares hard when they have a foal at foot. That said, mares run around in the pasture and get hot, and the foals nurse. I'm sure wild mares get hot running around as well.
Every now and again, even the best horse will decide to be a butt. My boss's Canadian Crossbreds were used to loading themselves on the van. You could turn them both loose at the bottom of the ramp. Prince would load himself and back himself into the middle stall, Benny would follow him up and back himself into the right hand stall. Every now and again, Prince would decide to be a butt and back himself into Benny's stall when Benny was already on the way up the ramp, and mayhem would ensue. I think he just thought it was funny to cause problems. He wouldn't ride in any stall but the middle. If you put him in one of the side stalls, he would weave until you could hardly keep the truck in the lane, and would try to climb the walls. He didn't want to be in Benny's stall, he just liked to cause problems occasionally.
Bree is thinking about kicking you again near the 42 minute mark. I would definitely nip that in the bud. You don't need to hurt her, but she needs to learn to respect you. Like I say, noise is often quite effective with babies. She isn't being mean, but she is being bratty and disrespectful, and she is getting big enough to hurt you.
You can always wrap some duck tape around that hinge so it doesn't hurt someone. At least it will blunt it.
Very well said. I saw it too. Bree has no respect for the humans space. Very dangerous precedent to set.
Your comments are very helpful. Thank you.
Brenda, Steve Young is a horseman who teaches very well about how to hold space around horses so that in their language, they understand your boundaries and therefore respect you. It's important to know now how to hold space around her so you never get hurt. He is on you tube and worth the look into. Anyway your doing an awesome job with her, I feel U just need a little info to assist you as she offers U attitude which is just her language and not being mean but could turn that way if not dealt with. Xxx
Brenda, I agree with the original commenter here. Bree is testing you to see if she can have some authority over you. Petting her or brushing her when this happens is basically rewarding bad behavior. You’ll notice she doesn’t “push” Jim around. Rather he pushes her. She knows he’s boss. Stay safe. Foals can do severe damage with those tiny hooves.
I noticed the same thing.....I thought oh boy, here we go.
Bree is getting so big! ❤
Once again a great video, I had to laugh when I saw Jim tie the hose out of the way with binder twine ( a farmers best tool lol) I have a couple of gates tied up with binder twine as a temporary measure ( been that way for about 5 years lol, ( I must get around to hanging them properly).I'm Glad people have mentioned Bree getting pushy, pretty sure Jim will show you how to stop that. thanks again for another interesting video.
Baron sure doesn't want to miss out on the action! I agree w/the previous comment; Bree is like a middle schooler, testing her boundaries trying to push Brenda. Having worked w/dogs, I suppose it's the same theory, they have to gently learn who's in charge... Thanks again for another great video! God bless your family.
Bree and company look very well...despite having a bit of 'tude there! Thanks for showing us those flybait bags; got a link for'em? I look forward to having a reason to use them :) when I get outta this concrete jungle here... (I like your practice of letting Lady cool off and have a good drink before nursing; she's been sweating, she's thirsty, and she needs those fluids more than ever to make the milk that Bree is healthy enough to wait a minute for.)
Lady seems to not mind I kinda felt bad for her 11:30 lady kinda looked like oo doing this job is going to feel great she knows she is comming back to the barn in a little bit .they all have so much trust in yall
Those fly trap bags work really well.
Do the fly bags work on horse flies too? Here in Florida the rainy season seems to be worst time for horse flues. Those suckers are huge too! We grow 'em big down here near The Green Swamp area in Central Florida. My percheron will trot over to me & present her body where the horsefly is biting her. She stands perfectly still while I proceed to smack at the fly-which of course means I'm smacking her in the process. She apparently trusts me to get it off her. I see how well your horses trust both of you as well.
Im sure Bill is glad to be back with Lady. Bree is growing a weed. she is so cute🙂
Little Bree seems to be coming into her own personality. She is certainly getting big. I really enjoyed this video and sharing your morning. 😀😀😀
Corn looks pretty good all things considering!!!
Wow Jim got a little horse attitude going on there today.
Omg look at Lady! So many dapples! What a vision, motherhood suits her. Bree is growing so big
You might want to think about reversing your gate hangar so the hook is on the outside of the post. This way you could swing the gate 180 degrees to either of the outside walls to make a long stall or swing it 180 degrees to the other wall to make and L shaped stall. Just a thought.
Billy boy just has to be with his Lady!!
loved the musical horses....even with the inherent craziness.....summer fun, horses will be horses especially when Baron is a cheerleader!!!
You folks are relaxing
13:00 + love hearing all the barn swallows!
I’m glad Bree didn’t kick you! She was backing into you like she wanted to.
I was thinking that too 😊
😮
I have a mule that does that but she only wants scratches. The breeder started that when she was a foal and she really loves it. She's also super gentle to handle especially her hind quarters / now 11yrs old, I got her as unbroke 2yr old.
It sounds like you have a lot of barn swallows in your barn! They go crazy when people or animals are near their nests. They get so loud!👍💜
I couldn't help but laugh at the horses being silly . Especially Bill following Lady 😂
🤗😂😁🥰❤️🤨👌🍅😪🍄🤣🍖😘🥕
My babies loved to be loved being brushed everyday Before and after working all year long
Beautiful animals ❤️😍
Another great video! Wish we had your excess water here in N Central MO. Farmers would sure like your hay. Not much here. Definately better to be too wet. Always enjoy the barn swallows. Horse flies, horses are definately tougher than I am. I was bitten on top of my ear once. Painful, and a lot of blood. I remember the old timers saying to never let foals nurse.a hot mare. Totally enjoyed the video. You covered a lot in this one.
Apples look great.
Great video Jim and Brenda
I work out on the road, but I was raised on a farm in Tennessee. I absolutely love your channel makes me think of our 200 acres in Tennessee. It will be three generations when it passes to Me so thanks for all your hard work for being a farmer and a logger and a movie star!! I know your plate is full and you’ve got a beautiful family but I have one question are you gonna breed lady back to Barron cause it looks to me like that was a good cross
Already did!
Thank you very much
Even more reason to get the tile job done. You will never regret it.
They are so good with you micro adjustments!
