  • How To Remove Shipping Container Doors - Quick and Safe - Sea Can Modifications | The Container Guy
    In this video, we will show you the quickest and safest way to remove shipping container doors. To remove a sea can door, all you need is an angle grinder to cut through the hinge pins and some help to set the doors on a pallet.
    Steps for cutting off container doors:
    --Fully close and latch the doors
    --Cut the hinge pins (bottom first and then the top)
    --Open doors normally with help and place them on a pallet
    If you are removing your container door, you are likely replacing it with new doors, a roll-up door, or a shutter door. We will have videos on all these topics soon!

    Thanks Container Guy. So glad I watched this, I could have made it so much harder for myself. I have a rusty container that is beyond redemption - floor supports rusted, bottom of walls rusted. Any suggestions for the way to break it down so I can get rid of it? Its in an awkward location so lifting it onto the back of a truck won't work.

    Hi. Nice videos. Hello, I live in Chile and I need to divide my containers in two to rent mini warehouses. A container has a double door at one end. At the other end it only has wall and Suppose I take out one of them and keep it. . On the other side could I cut to leave a gap and install the removed door and install it? This way you would have a very secure container door at each end. It would be really helpful if you had any videos to guide me if you ever did.

    Related question I'm hoping you can help me with. Can't find a good answer anywhere. I need to replace the hasp latch on the right side of the door (someone vandalized it). It's the unit that flips down to allow a lock to go through it. How do I remove the rounded bolts that keep that unit in place? And then how do I reinstall them? Thanks!

    • @TheContainerGuyTV
      @TheContainerGuyTV  Před 7 měsíci +1

      That's a carriage bolt. Cut all the caulking away on the other side of the door and loosen the nut. You don't need a wrench on the other side.
      Then simply reuse the carriage bolt and nut with the new hasp.
      Finally, get yourself a Container Modification World high security lock box and 80mm shackle lock.

    I also like to see how to weld containers on a foundation!

    • @TheContainerGuyTV
      @TheContainerGuyTV  Před 2 lety

      What type of foundation? I'm a huge believer in screw piles. No point in mixing in concrete piles or footings when screw piles and I beams can be used as a foundation and your container structure can easily be bolted or welded to that.

    I have a container with one door that is hard to latch, (left hand when looking at the doors)the container is level all directions. Any suggestions , the other door latches easy.

    • @TheContainerGuyTV
      @TheContainerGuyTV  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi Robin. When the doors are closed, if you look at where the door seal is sitting against the header and footer, you can often see rubber rubbed off on the paint and that's typically where the door wants to sit. If your container was tweaked or slightly dropped any time in its life, the doors might not want to sit perfectly level and actually might need a small shim under the left or right bottom corner casting. Once you've eliminated the doors being out of square as suspect, then look at the lock rods, camlocks and keepers. Sometimes lube or grease helps but often a keeper may be bent and need some material ground off. If you email photos to sales@thecontainerguy.ca, I can likely assist you in diagnosing the problem.

    • @TheContainerGuyTV

      Because we cut the pins they're too short to reuse so we use new ones. It's 12mm or 1/2" cold rolled steel rod that we buy from our local steel wholesaler and cut it to length.. cheap
