@89 chi They are added in as non Steam Games. You can add in games that aren't Steam Games to your library and display them all there with your Steam Games. I like it cause its more organised.
This isn't what I was looking for, but this is exactly what I needed.
From the bottom of my heart I wish to say: Thank you so much ! If it weren't for your tutorial now I wouldn't be able to experience this priceless feeling of deep nostalgia right now ! Basically, since my HP2 pc game is lost (I only have the cd box but not the cd, very frustratingly), I thought I'd download the game from online. At first my game simply wouldn't start (screen would go black and then a fatal error would be displayed). Nonetheless I thought I'd follow your instructions anyway. I got a crack and replaced the .exe file with it and also followed your instructions for fps rate, the resolution and texture fix. IT WORKS LIKE MAGIC NOW ! I'm on a laptop with Win10 but I'll repeat the entire operation and have the game installed on my main pc. I have only 2 rather minor issues though:
- Debug mod doesn't seem to be working but tbh that's a minor issue. Like I can't make Harry freeze and move around with the camera. There's a bug.
- Is it possible to change the language ? Is there a possibility to get a french language pack and change the language of the game ? I used to play it in French and for a fuller nostalgia experience I need to play that game in french.
I thank you heartily again for your time and experience and for sharing your fixes online ! I'm so glad right now I got my favourite childhood game running ! This game, even though it's a pc game, means so MUCH to me ! In my opinion it's the best HP pc game of all times because you can explore Hogwarts. They definitely should have persisted on this path for other subsequent HP games but sadly they didn't. Oh and I LOVE Soule's music for this game. This music is my childhood. Thank you ! You deserve a medal !
you should be excited for hogwarts legacy game. the first good harry potter game after 20 years
Hello!
You can explore hogwarts on the azkaban PC game. I don't know about sounds, but you can have subs in aní language, you just need to swap some files in the system folder, though you need to get french files first.
Godsend, thanks a bunch man, randomly thought about playing this again and was searching how to play in 1920x1080 but found this, awesome work!
Happy to help!
Thank you so much. This video is so helpful. You helped me to plunge into the days of my childhood but at the same time be able to play in high resolution. You deserve much more subscribers.
Thank you! Glad I could help you out!
You're a lifesaver, my girlfriend asked me to install harry potter 2 on my PC for her to play, but i noticed right away the ammount of problems it had, thankfully i found this video, very clear explanation from start to finish, thank you so much!
Hope you realize how much people appreciate this video. You were instrumental in helping me get back into HP 1 & 2 on Pc.
These games hold so much memories and thanks to you i get to play with them again on my modern pc

Thank you SOO MUCH for the texture bug fix! THANKS A LOT! Stay safe! :)
Thank you so much for this video! This was so helpful and has my game playing beautifully!

excelent content dude thank u so much
Really thanks for this video! Work pretty good on Windows 10 :)
thanks a lot now it's smooth!!
This is amazing! I'm trying to run this via Whiskey on Mac and the only issue I'm trying to fix is the game lagging when it's raining in the begging during the Whomping Willow scene where you rescue Ron. Cheers!
Awesome video! I think another fun thing to do is to change the damage multiplier to make the a game more challenging ( it's at the end of the user.ini)
more like easier!
I love this guide, I thank you
Glad it has helped you out.

Thank you very much!
I am flabbergasted! This actually works. 0_0 Everything really works! FYI Don't change back the Windows Text Size to 125%! When you play the game, keep it at 100%! Thanks a lot Alex! Wonderful memories.

Maby you can help me. I don't no how to explain it in english very well, but i try. I did all the stuff for the game, but my problem is, that i see ever frame, but it stays behind. At the beginning, when Hedwig flys by, i see him like 20 time, when he comes across the screen, also all the movments are blurry and see them mutiple times, stay there and don't disappear. I don't no what to do, chanche or downloade, so it will work just fine. I have a 60Hz Monitor Full HD and a AMD Radeon RX 5700 graphics card. i don't know if this has somthing to do with that.
Tanks for the help
Thanks! Works!
Great video
What a great video and explanation you did there . It's so thrilling that after all these years people find ways to play and bring life into the Hp games .Watching this made me consider maybe replaying these games in 4k since they were my legend of Zelda when i was a kid :D i Uploaded the first 3 in 1920-60 fps 3 years ago and now with your lovely walkthrough i think i might revisit them again :)
I'm glad this helped you out! These games were my childhood too and still play them to this very day. I have made a guide for HP1 PC in 4K as well you can find it here: czcams.com/video/nTWawpfVgCI/video.html I am in the middle of doing my guide for HP3 atm too so hope to have that one up very soon.
@@JokerAlex21 Mine too. Dope gameplay , the glacius challenge is my fav from that game.
@@fogdasher3795 Thank you! It's a fun challenge a little bit buggy in places but still just about works. I expect my guide for HP3 PC in 4K will be out when the series is complete.

THANK YOU SO MUCH!
Happy to help.
Thanks man
Thanks a lot, this guide is great!
Using Lumos always lagged so much before i changed the FullscreenColorBits to 32 (4:48).
Does anyone know what the maximum possible house points is in the chamber of secrets? I'm at 1410, but haven't maxed out all the quidditch games.
Like that of the first game, I completed my walkthrough of this game before I fixed the textures and increased the frame rate, but I don't really care that much. At least for future videos, such as a full walkthrough I have planned for the game, those changes will be obvious and I can perhaps play at a faster rate than I previously did. 👍🏻👍🏻
So thanks for the help you provided in this video and the one for the first game! 😁
Great, thanks!
Youre a savior man 🙏
The game encounters a "critical error when launching. It says "Cant find file for package 'ipdrv' " An ideas how to fix that?
Hiya. Glad to see uploader still looks at comments. I have an issue where certain characters appear over other objects. For example in the beginning cinematic, when you first see Harry looking out the window I see his full body instead of just his head and arms.
Hey, did changing the Field of View not sort this as it sounds as though you have a rather zoomed in FOV. The other issues it could be that spring to my mind are that it could be a texture bug. Did you do the Texture Bugs Fix (11:59)? Otherwise you may need to try this, Another way to be able to launch the game if it still doesn't fit onto the full screen properly is to click Game exe and click Properties, Compatibility and set this to Windows XP Service Package 3, Change High DPI Settings, tick Override High DPI Scaling Behaviour, on dropdown box choose Application, click Apply. Then run the game and this should sort out any issues. I hope one of these may fix the issue if not then let me know.
@@JokerAlex21 I'm not sure if this fix worked for Alexander, but I was having the same issue. Its almost as if the textures are clipping. I followed the FOV and Texture bug fix. I also ran it in compatability and overriding the High DPI scaling Behavior. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
The only problem im finding is that the game runs on my second monitor, there is something i can do about it?
Any easy way you know to get this to work with an xbox controller instead of mouse and keyboard?
Use a program called Xpadder to then configure your controller for the game. Its not perfect but its the best way to use controller on the game.
thanks for this! do you know if there's a way to make it so you can alt+tab while full screen?
edit: ok so apparently you can fullscreen it while playing in window mode and that way you can alt+tab
and thx a lot btw
I accidentally made my launcher window too small, is there a way to fix this via the files?
I was able to get it working well in Boot Camp/Windows 10! Thanks for your help. Now I’m having an issue with Debug Mode. I turned it on, but instead of the delete key enabling free camera, it gives an empty window border that says Language Browser at the top.
10:06 How can i fix that this menu is in normal size?
Thanks !! but i getting a problem in game, everytime i play for 20-40 minutes, the game crashes, and i don't know how to fix that, can you help me with this? i really wanna play this game
(if i said something wrong above, sorry my native language isn't english)

Awesome Video, Worked really well and was easy to follow! I had most of it done correctly but I guess I needed the dx files to make it work properly
Glad it helped you out. I'm sure the extra bit's in this will help you out too. Yea now you have the DX files your set. Looking forward to your playthrough of the game man!
To be fair I don't know all the secrets but I think that I can at least make an enjoyable experience for the viewers
@@greypack7282 I'm sure man, i'm looking forward to it!
Yeah I just posted some of them
I think they turned out pretty good
@@greypack7282 Nice man! I'll check them out.
My text is so huge that I can't change the game state when I open the console. Help please?
If you're trying to run the game in windowed and you're only getting a white screen on launch the game's confused by your chosen aspect ratio. You'll have to change "WindowedViewportX=" and "WindowedViewportY=" to any 4:3 ratio that fits well on your monitor.
I found the following settings to work well on a 1920x1080 monitor without cutting off any of the settings off screen. (The text is pretty small in the menu though).
"WindowedViewportX=1400"
"WindowedViewportY=1050"
very helpfull thx
How is it that you have Harry Potter games on Steam? I've looked several times and cannot find them, have had to either download them or get a disc drive to then play the physical copy of.
They are disc copies that I have added the exe file in as a non steam game to my library.
How did you get Harry Potter and the prisoner of Azkaban on steam at the start of the video?
one thing i have noticed is Hagrid in the Dudley's garden its a stang place for him funny to see him just standing there
great only one problem i did everything as in the video but the game does not open on the whole screen there are black bars on the sides how to fix it?
You will need to change dpi settings most likely. So right click the game exe file, properties, compatibility, change dpi settings, tick on high dpi and set the drop down box to application and then ok and apply. This should then fix your issue I believe in not then it will be either and incorrectly written resolution or the ini file is being overwritten in documents.
Hi my friend, fantastic work! I'm running into a weird problem though: my camera rotation isnt perfectly locked to the character rotation. So when i move the mouse fast it starts de-syncing and harry is not facing back to the camera. If I do it real fast I can even see harry's face and then the game fixes it, slowly. It's really bad for the moments you need to look around fast. Do you have any idea what could it be? I use AMD but made the fix in the description and also the frame rates'. Cheers!
In different mouse dpi's the effect happens differently as well. In higher dpi's it's way more dramatic.
I have a problem that I dont see all numbers and texts in ingame menu and also i ingame. Have you ran into something like this?
This sounds like the Legacy files have managed to corrupt in someway. I suggest you get a fresh Legacy Patch and replace the files from the Legacy that you put into the System Folder before. Let me know if that helps and fixes the issue.
Thank you! But, is there really no way to fix the GUI? It's annoying that I can't see the quest info, buttons or that I have a timer over half of the screen
Not this way in the original game no except the main menu mod that helps fix that linked in description and pinned comment.
Everything works wonderfully (Speaking of, Thank you So Much For This Tutorial. My Mom really loves this game and will be so happy to play it after all this time), but in the in-game menu I get lags and like 1 fps. I think I have everything as it should be, including 32 bit colors.
And BTW: Sorry If I made any mistakes. I'm not a native speaker (I'm Polish). :D
Thank you, happy it helped. I have never heard of a menu lag issue before. Could be that the patch has somehow corrupted. Try deleting the patch files you copied in to the 'System' folder and redownload them and place them into the 'System' folder again.
Ah! I've been waiting years to figure this out. I was trying to figure out an emulator or something, and I didn't even know this much easier way was possible. I just fired up the game and it's so great.
Glad it helped you out! You may wish to do this as well if you want to be able to access the secret level within the game normally instead of having to use the Debug Mode. Bare in mind you will need to have learned all spells before entering the level. czcams.com/video/_cXP-RDS3tE/video.html

thats insane .. i cant told how helpfull this video was u are god .. ive got a little problem with resolution but ive solved it so for peopel who has 2560x1440 p (2k) just write 1920x1440 .. it will be square but better than cut window .. this problem is bcs our monitors are more like oblong than square .. just look on your mobile ... resolution is 19:9 or 19:8
and maybe i will be helpfull too and show u how find your best resolution .. so this game is old and run (for better mathematic) 800x600 on old monitors so .. if 600p is 100% then 1440p is 240%
800p is 100% then 1920p is 240% .. its simple matematic
( we have 3 axis (x,y,z) in our world but monitor is only 2d so x and y) just FullscreenViewportY or axis Y if u want is important for u ... that is what u need to find out .. i hope it will be helpfull.. my english is bad so srry if u dont understand :D
If you are using a multiple monitor setup and the game only runs on a secundary one change the display scale in the windows display setting for all monitors you do not want the game to run on to 150 percent, whereas the monitor you want to play on set to 100 percent

Very useful, thanks, literally fixed everything, so helpful, one question though, is there anyway to redirect the Harry Potter II file to somewhere else? I don't really like having it in the my documents directory.
Glad it helped! Sadly no as if you put it anywhere else it just breaks.

Hi just wanted to ask I'm having an issue with the sound all the music and sound effects work but I can't hear when characters talk could you possibly help me?
This is to do with the language of the game. What language are you trying to play in?
@@JokerAlex21 English
@@therandomheavy4570 Ok 2 things did you download the game from somewhere online? Also in my documents, harry potter II, game ini, under [Engine.Engine] heading what does the language say?
very good
Thank you for the tutorial! I can run the game but my dialogue sound is not playing while music seems to be fine. Not sure what I'm doing wrong here, any suggestions?
Usually this can be caused with the wrong language being selected. If you go to file explorer and find this C:\Users\Your user name \Documents\Harry Potter II then open Game ini and scroll down till you find the heading [Engine.Engine] then change Language= to your language this will always be 3 letters so for example Language=eng. Otherwise you will need to find the correct region (i.e. version) of your game.
Hey thanks for this, Do you know about any way to remove the huge ammount of mouse smoothing in this game has? I'd feel so much better if that was gone, I tried looking in the config files and for mods but so far I havent been successful.
There is nothing for that I'm afraid no.
thank you for your tutorial, do you know why my desiredFOV always changes back to 90 after I start the game?
No problem! On that ini file make sure once you edit the fov and save the changes you right click it and click properties then readonly. This will stop the game overriding it.
I stuffed up the controls to move left and right. How do I fix that? He doesn't move side to side anymore
You will need to edit the User ini file in your Documents Harry Potter II folder. Add next to A=StrafeLeft and D=StrafeRight
thanks 👍☺️
Hi, for some reason in the menu I cant click on all the options at the top other than the house points. I cant click on the beans or the potions. Is there anyway I can fix this?

Hey I have an issue! My menu screen in particular is zoomed in on the upper 1/4 of the menu, so I don’t have access to everything. Tips on how to fix that?
Go to the games exe file so game.exe and set high dpi settings. So right click game.exe, properties, compatibility, change high dpi settings, set high dpi to application in the drop down menu then ok and then apply. This should fit the game to your screens size.
@@JokerAlex21 thanks for the fast reply! The menu screen is still messed up, it cuts off around the wizard card logo. The rest of it is all fine though

great guide mate, one issue i ran into installing the game this time tho, everytime i run the game, the game.ini file gets rewritten and reset to all original values.
i tried deleting it and let the game generate a new one, also tried pasting ini from my previous walkthrough, but to no effect, always resets.
Thank you! You will want to make you changes to the ini files and then once saved right click them and click Properties then tick ReadOnly and click Apply. Do this for both ini files and then you should not have this issue anymore.
The in-game menu is squished to the left side of the screen, just want to know if it's a normal side effect of the higher resolution patch, or if I missed a step somewhere?
If you put on the menu patch I liked down in the description then yes it will take up half of the screen only. If you didn't use that then it will stretch across the full screen but be cut off a bit at the bottom. This is the best that can be done for the menu in this game.
@@JokerAlex21 top, just wanted to be sure, thanks! :)
Thx!
Edit: how do I change it to window mode?
Hi there, is there no way to get the in the game menu working properly?
Link down in the description to fix it now. Didn't exist when the video was made in the past.
Hey thank you so much for your videos! they've been very helpful.
I'm having an issue saving the game.ini file. The moment I launch the game it reverts to the way it was before I saved it. How do I fix this?
No problem glad they help! You will need to edit it and make the changes you want then save it and once saved right click the game ini file, properties and tick readonly then apply. This will stop the game from overwriting the file and instead only allow it to read the file.
This is a wonderful guide - got my game working! However, I'm having trouble with dialogue skipping - near the end of each line of dialogue, especially during the narrated cutscenes, it'll suddenly skip forwards to the next line. I've also noticed that the gaps in between dialogue in your playthrough are noticably longer than those in mine. I'm running on an NVIDIA 3060 and Intel i7 Laptop, and have done the suggested frame caps and VSync, but to no effect - I'm not sure what to do now.
Are there any other fixes for this? What worked for you? (I saw that you don't have this problem with your gameplay footage)
There are 2 methods. 1st capping the frame rate below 60fps can sometimes help. The other on the speed runners website there is a frame rate cap file that can be used that caps the fps to 60 and stops a lot of issues. However, if you use this you will have a frame rate counter on the screen at all times as this fix is used for speed running so if has to be there as part of their rule set. I cap my game at 60fps in the ini file and have no issues really but others do seem to have problems with the audio sadly. This is the best that can be used to fix the issue to my knowledge.
@@JokerAlex21 The Speedrunner fix worked for me. Thank you very much indeed!
@@JokerAlex21 Wow excellent the speed runner one is the first framerate fix to work for me in this game.
