- A trip from Huancayo to Huancavelica by train in Peru on this narrow gauge railway high in the Peruvian Andes. This follwed on from our previous day where we travelled by train from Lima.
Part of a trip organised by Ffestiniog Travel in October 2001.
very beautiful video
I'm born in Peru. I love the people, the culture and the power of nature there.
I rode the 'Tren Macho' in 2016. Not with the motor car but with the 'real' engine hauled train. In Class Buffet, a kind of first class. It was a great experience. My trip was shortly after reopening the line. The line has been closed for 4 years, to convert the line into standard gauge. In this clip it is the old situation with the narrow gauge line.
Do you know if the line is open now? With the steam engine?

This line is now standard guage. As of 2009.
It's a long swim past the ditch, eh Sheila?
This route is not used anymore?
sadly, it's not operating since august 2018, many sections of track are buried by landslides of a road that was built. and some other natural disasters... we don´t know when it will reopen again...
I have some videos in my channel! you might like them
