  • We just bought this 50 year old beast, named her Madge, and are going to be documenting our process of modernization, restoration, and upgrading of her for the next year.
Before all that starts though, we thought it would be nice to show off Madge in an in-depth tour so others out there will be able to see all of the quirks and details that the '73 Travco has to offer. There's not a ton of these out there in the world, and not a ton of content for them, so if you're in the market for one today or someday or just down a really deep internet rabbit hole, then be sure to follow along. Lots of cool project planned over the next year.

Wow, watching this after your first reveal video and hearing first thoughts vs. what you did is really a cool experience. Also, I can almost smell that carpet through the video, lol 😂.

I have a '76 320 I got from my uncle, who ordered it new outside Seattle at Lynnwood Dodge. It then, in short order, wound up in Alaska for the next 25+ years. Came down in the early/mid-2000's, got a re-vamp, then went on a trip across the US and into part of Mexico. They gave it to me in 2014, now getting set to bring it across the US this summer. I do have both door locks, so I think that internet story is a story. Mine does have the LeCarra steering wheel, CIBIE driving & fog lights (the old concave lenses, big rectangular units), and the Alcoas are being polished and prepped for new AH-11 tires (all seven, about $1800 "Good buddy price"). Will recommend Bilstein shocks, sway bars on both ends with poly bushings, external trans cooler and deep trans pan, replace all rubber fuel hose -the alcohol content in newer gas is great for rotting the ancient hose- and have the Thermo-Quad carb rebuilt with a later/updated material kit (same reason, alcohol content) as well as replace the fuel pump. That is just a primer on the mechanical

Love the Travco!! Glad you made the video...
I just bought a very similar Travco. I would gladly buy any of the green fabrics etc that you discard. I am keeping my green. I look forward to your progress.
    Best,
    Matt

The green was not worth keeping trust me. It was disgusting when we removed it and would have not been salvageable.

That thing is in EXCELLENT i mean excellent condition, I'd go through the drivetrain couple solar panels on the roof air conditioner,THEN shake the house payment and go get myself a nice spot on the mountain and drink cold beer.

It looked like it was in super condition on the surface, but there was some pretty gnarly issues lurking in there once we started digging deeper. The shag was hiding issues that could have led to electrical fires, mold under the cabinets, rancid food oil spills that had been sitting for who know how long, rust on the internal frame from old leaks that needed to be resealed, a really inconsistent and shoddy insulation job... The more we cut away the more needed to go.
We were at first just going to do a facelift, update the mechanical parts, replace ac, etc, now it's become a total renovation.

We did not, just making long videos about it. Just uploaded the completed walkthrough to the channel if you wanted to check it out.
