Nice! I remember they used to make something called a Hand-Gun for bodysurfing. Used to work pretty good but this group is doing just fine with whatever Mother Nature gave them. Thanks for the video my friend, good stuff! 👍 👍

Very cool! My first board was a 48" el paipo. And I distinctly remember jumping off the Huntington beach pier into 15' waves as a kid.

beautiful water, excellent video capture, and most of the riders gain a position to just fall into the wave, with hardly any arm strokes, illustrating a nice skill level. pretty video, looks like fun.

Refreshing to see so many good bodysurfers & paipo’s at a good break. This is what surfing was like in the early 60’s in Australia as the long board’s weren’t that manoeuvrable.

I love the rights!
Whats is not being said, is that Paipo Beach has probably THE most perfectly structured wave for body surfing in the World! I was luck to body surf it in 1971, and that wave is so supportive of your body, it amazed me. It is even a better wave for body surfing (strutural wise), than even the Wedge in Balboa, Ca. which I body surfed a lot in the 60s.
Firing Crystal Cove is one of the best too!
You know, Pipeline can be soooo good on the right day. You can get out on both hands spidering just under the lip the whole way. 🤤

The boys made me earn their respect and I did.
When the swell has a lot of west in it, it starts way off the point towards Incinerators/Fly’s.
They yell, “Go Zac” and that was my green light to go right and Backdoor Panics barrel and come flying out to a launch ramp. I busted an air and was staring at the crew at the showers at eye level.

Does this break, which I'm guessing is body surfing only, allow non-locals? Or would one get a punch in the nose or continually dropped in on like so many other surf breaks in HI?
