    Excellent video. I went back to look at that 4/6 technique then popped back here. I am new to the switch and this looks great. I like that you categorized the different bloom phases by what we want to get out of the coffee. Who knew coffee would be complicated.

    You make brilliant videos, so much so I placed my order with you the other week and today my items arrived. I would not have ordered anywhere else as your videos gave me the confidence to purchase with you, great instructions, easy to follow.
    Can you please give me the best recipe coffee gram wise and water wise for the aeropress XL. And also is the best grind 25 clicks for the Joy Resolve Grinder I purchased?
    The Subminimal NanoFoamer Milk Frother is awesome! Works so well.

      Awesome! Thank you! Would you believe it - I haven't had a chance to play with the AeroPress XL yet! Though - a video is coming soon 👌 Adn I have heard it's not entirely the same approach with the XL as the original.

    I’ve seen in places the 4/6 on v60 uses coarse grinds where the Hario switch recipes usually with more of a medium fine grind.
    What would you say the recommended grind setting will be for this Hario switch recipe and the regular v60 4/6 o using the default burrs on the vs3?

  • @liamaron4039

    Been looking for a good recipe! Thanks for covering this brewer!
    Took me awhile to get used to the differences between this and a standard v60.
    What setting would you grind for this brewer on the Vs3?

      your welcome! 🙏 for a VS3 - I used one for the video - 12 or 13 - either with extended steeping, more pours or stirring if concentration/strength wasn’t enough

    Do you prefer heat exchangers or dual boilers when it comes to budget end game espresso machines (typically $2000 USD or under)

    • @AlternativeBrewing
      @AlternativeBrewing  Před 6 měsíci

      Dual Boiler with PID if you can. That way you have the best thermal stability - otherwise a HX with PID will perform just as good 🫶

    Hario switch or Clever dripper? I have not seen to many of the big coffee ambassadors comparing or giving their opinion on which is to prefer.
    Any thoughts from AB?

    • @Lance54689
      @Lance54689 Před 6 měsíci

      I've used both and there is no contest. The Switch is superior. The way the valve works in the Switch is worlds better, and the materials are a lot nicer. Also for some reason I always got bad clogging on the Clever but I haven't with the switch. Maybe its the filters?

    • @AlternativeBrewing
      @AlternativeBrewing  Před 6 měsíci +2

      I'll have to do a comparison 🫶 deep dive Im not sure otherwise - other than commenting on the better materials used with the Switch

  • @noxnext
    @noxnext Před měsícem

    One question: when adding the water first before putting in the coffee, do I add the total 120ml which would otherwise be the first AND second pour? I‘m a bit confused by this step which you said can prevent clogging.

    • @AlternativeBrewing
      @AlternativeBrewing  Před měsícem +1

      it's more of a one pour and steep style brew. add a maximum of say 120ml+ then ad dcoffee - and eventually open the valve - nothing wrong with adding more water once drained either - jsut want to start with a good amount of water in this first step 👌

  • @Spiralem

    What about doing the wet WDT method?

  • @dancorpx
    @dancorpx Před 7 měsíci

    is there much difference between this and the clever coffee dripper?

    • @Spiralem
      @Spiralem Před 7 měsíci +2

      I doubt there is much difference other than the shape of filter used.
      Cleaning on Clever is tricky because of the gaskets and O-rings and coffee would slowly creep in.
      While I find the Switch being easier to clean as the lever can be easily removed. The metal bearing can also be removed for deep cleaning easily as well.

    • @AlternativeBrewing
      @AlternativeBrewing  Před 7 měsíci +2

      Agree m. Differences in the geometry of the cone, and the material (Clever being Plastic, Switch glass) these will make a difference to the end cup. Clever also having a few extra parts in the mechanism the switch does not. However the Clever works in a way that it opens when you place it down in the cup - so it’s an internal trigger, as opposed to the switch’s switch.

    • @cktse_jp
      @cktse_jp Před 25 dny

      Percolation phase will be a lot messier to do on the Clever because you need to lift the whole thing up to open the valve unlike the Switch. It’s really designed for immersion only when the valve only opens at the very end.
