    I had this on the 12" in '86 but it took some more years before I got in to electronic music. When I did I rediscovered this electro track and imho it was very awesome for the time. There were numerous artists for whom this style is about all they could do and Roger [it seems] apparently thought "I'll have a stab at that". If it was released by some dedicated electro artist of the time it might have been heralded as a classic of the genre.

    Pure 1986. This is not quite Queen, but the electronic music tools that they used to put across an idea. Listen to this track in Highlander especially Brian May's 15 second snippet from Daddy Help Me scene where the whole bass synth is replaced with his guitar riff.

    • @SpiralPegasus
      @SpiralPegasus Před 7 lety +2

      Not counting Flash Gordon, the only five songs I could not stand were Cool Cat, Mustapha, My Baby Does Me and The Loser in the End. I warmed up to all of those at least a bit - Funny How Love Is is still the only one that sucks after 15+ years of listening to Queen.
      Good that there is _someone_ out there who actually likes it. You're
      literally the first person that I read on the internet or talk to in
      person to ever say they like it. I swear.

    • @lokiofjotunheimr7585
      @lokiofjotunheimr7585 Před 7 lety +1

      I agree on Mustapha: I don't love it but I can tolerate it (also Freddie's vocals on it are amazing). I don't mind My Baby Does Me one way or another. I understand the dislike for Cool Cat (though I personally disagree; it's very catchy, and I like Freddie's falsetto), but find it strange that you dislike it more than other tracks on Hot Space (ahem, Body Language and Put Out the Fire). But I'm surprised that you actively disliked Loser in the End! Maybe I just have a soft spot for the whole Queen II album (Funny How Love Is included).
      My least favorite Queen songs, not counting Flash Gordon -- which for the record (pun intended) I don't hate, I just find hopelessly boring -- are probably Fat Bottomed Girls, Get Down Make Love, and Put Out the Fire -- but they're still tolerable. It's funny that two of the three are written by Brian, but he's also penned some of Queen's greatest.
      Really, I'm the first person you've encountered who likes Funny How Love Is? You should check out the comments sections on CZcams videos of it! Lots of positivity there. I just find it such an adorable little piece. The only aspect of it that I don't fancy much is the drumming, which I think doesn't fit well with the mood, but I still think the song is very cute. Why do you dislike it?

    • @SpiralPegasus
      @SpiralPegasus Před 7 lety +6

      Right! I forgot about Body Language. That's amidst the worst 5 for sure.
      Get Down Make Love I used to quite like but now I think the musical breakdown sucks - still not amidst the worst, though. The rest of the songs you mention I do like.
      Of of Funny How Love Is, I find it very monotonous (all instruments), the original mix was horrible (drums taking over everything), the lyrics are silly at best, it has no solo, complexity or _almighty display_ of any kind...
      The number of times I heard of people hating on it has to have three digits - I distinctly recall one saying "I can't think of this song as anything but a mistake!".
      Nevertheless, I still think Queen 2 (with Innuendo) is Queen's best album.
