Hello I have laid leveling compound on a garage floor but I have not used enough and the compound I have put down needs to be raised a few mm as I have not used enough. Can I top it up? it has only been put down 24 hours but I need the level to be level with some concrete that goes round the sides of the garage. please help
Picked up a couple of tips, thanks for taking the time to do this.
Happy to help you!
In this video you'll see how to make a concrete floor leveling with self-leveling compound. Very easy steps!
I am laying a tile floor in my master bathroom and the floor was not level. I had no idea what I was going to do to fix it. NOW I know! Thank you for a very informative video. Great Job. Thank you!
Thanks for your comment! Good luck with your project!
You do a great job and give good advice. I use a lot of information from your videos to get my renovation done right, thanks.
Hi, very happy to read your positive comment! Thanks!
No problem, I watched about 20 videos on crown molding none helped, after watching your video I was able to do perfect inside and outside corners.
Great!
Fantastic video.I watched i t 3 months ago and did it following your advice.Turned out perfect.Thank you
Hi Craig, thanks for your positive comment!
@@MrYoucandoityourself Thank you for my really nice floor!!!!
Great video where do you get that large straight guide for leveling
Hi Jaime, here is a link to Amazone - Straight Edge 10 Ft. - amzn.to/2hNKhFj
You can choose any length for this tool. Thanks for your question!
I have an older tiled floor. Rather than busting up the tile to then lay a vinyl floor, I was hoping to use this self leveler right on top of the tile. Any worries of it sticking. Also, I have large surface area (1,000 sf). Will I have time to keep mixing additional bags to cover whole area or would this require a larger crew of people? Helpful video!! Thanks!!
Hi, for tile you need use special primer - ECO Prim Grip or other brands like ceramic primer, and then level it. For large area you can do leveling by spots by your self - no problem or if you need cover all surface you need helpers for sure. Thanks!
Hi, great jobs! How would you handle a job where just one side of the room was 5/8 of an inch out of level from the wall to the middle of the room? The wall side of my living room drops almost 3/4
Thanks!
In this situation I am using tripods.
Learn alot , good technique
Thanks for watching and commenting!
I have 23 years of experience doing flooring of all kinds . I only ask because I usually demo the tile or just skim coat the grout lines with webcrete patch but I like plantipach to it's very similar to webcrete .
Hi William, It's hard to give you some advise, because every single job has a lot of pitfalls. You understood what I am talking about. Thanks for your questions!
Do you recommend going over asbestos tile with the primer and self leveler?
Hi, read the instruction on the bag. Any manufacturer doesn't recommend use compound over asbestos. Thanks.
How would you go about skim coating over tile to stop telegraphing grout lines so you can put lvp plank flooring over it ?
Hi William, you can use Planipatch Mapei. I always use it foe vinyl flooring.
It's over ceramic tile . Do you think I should prime the tile then use plantipach ?
Hi William, There is few options. Special primer for Planipatch you can add to mix, and another option EcoPrime grip. Just roll it over the tile and in hour put Planipatch. Don't mix Planipatch to much in one time , because it dry very fast and it should be like buttermilk consistences. For application you have to use flat trowel. In hour it will be ready for installation. Before start installation use sending block or grinding blade make all surface smooth, just by hands. Make sense?
If the lower spot is next to the drywall, do you need the seal the gap below the drywall and the concrete floor so the liquid won't flow outside? Can I use paint tape to seal it or something else you can recommend?
Hi Zhao, I would prefer put foam tape, for making an expansion gap between the wall and the subfloor. Thanks for watching!
Great video thank you so much I'm going to be trying this in my living room where part of the floor slopes down almost half an inch I'm worried though set in the transition area from the living room to the kitchen I'm going to have an uneven step I'm not sure of what to do
Hi Paul, If your floor sloping down so much, make just flat.

hi. is it also possible to use this on a rough finished flooring?
Yes, you can.
Could I ask which self-leveling compound you used? I will be needing that which can be leveled to a feather edge such as yours. Didn't see it in your list! Thanks.
Mapei Novoplan 2 (self-leveling compound)
"Novoplan 2 Plus" instructions says should be applied no thinner than 1/8". Was wondering if you've had any issues. I found out after I bought "Self Leveler Plus" from Lowes that it too should only be poured to 1/8".
Great videos, wish I had a nice long aluminum level like that!
My friend what is the difference between Mapei Novoplan 2 and the Mapei self-leveler plus because I used Mapei self-leveler plus and I didn’t have enough time to level everything because it dry too soon. Please any advise thanks
Hi, In summer very hard mange time for settle leveling material. Be sure, water is cold, put little more water, make more liquid compound and put primer properly, because if water from compound can absorb very quickly to subfloor, your levelling material will dry very fast! Good enough?
Thanks for your reply the mixing instructions said 4.75 L to 5 L for a 50 lbs bag. What do you think should I put 6 L of water per bag instate of 5 liter?
put 5.25 - 5.5 and you will see. I am putting. I am putting for 3 bags 5 Gallon basket of water. You can buy it in Home Depot(orange). There is on the basket 3 rings on top, I fill up by second ring. It's approximately 6 liters per bag.
I used Mapei self levelling compound. I put two bags on my 58 square foot floor, but when I mixed it it did not come out as liquid as yours. I followed the direction & put the amount of water & concrete, but it did not flow like yours did now my floor is ever more uneven. Looks like I will have to do it again & put more water???
Hi,I hope, this video can help you - czcams.com/video/Zm2itxPgtOc/video.html
@@MrYoucandoityourself I see you did add a little more water. So, do it should help with getting the compound more fluid then, right? Thank for your reply.
Can you do a second coat if you do it too thin?
Hi Lance, if you use primer, it’s not a problem. Thanks
Is it the spike roller you used to level the floor?
Spike roller make the liquid more evenly.
How long is it recomended that you roll it for?
Until you'll see it nice and smooth.
very informative, thank you
Thanks for your comment!
Hi I’m
Trying to renovate my living room area
What’s the range price for floating or fixing the subfloor with self leveling
Cause it’s a lot work
I want to hire someone but I want prepare my budget
Thank you
Hi, ask your local company for pricing, because if I tell you how much it cost on Vancouver maybe you will confuse. Thanks!
Is that last step to run the roller spikes necessary? What does it do? Can it be skipped if I don't want to buy that tool?
You can use only straight edge.
It feathers out any imperfections caused by troweling or leveling tools. It just provides a more consistent finish. Streaks or no streaks? You'd have to be the judge yourself. They are $38 at Amazon if you can't rent one.
MrYoucandoityourself gdffgdcgd
The compound levels itself that tool is a little Overkill
@@bigdaddyktk24 it doesn't really, the spiked roller helps remove any air pockets in the screed and helps it flow. Try troweling half of the floor without the rollerung after and see the difference. No point troweling it if it self levels.
Sr how many minutes after laying leveler can you use the roller...?? How long do I have to use the roller without damaging the work? Thank you
Hi, depending what the temperature inside the house and moisture as well. If it’s warm and dry, you have 15 - 20 min for using roller.
@@MrYoucandoityourself I'm very grateful to you sr..🙏🏼👍🏼👊🏼
I'm going to try and level a large floor and i have purchased everything but the spike roller. Can you help me in finding one. I have look in every building material store and can not locate one. Any info will be greatly appreciated thanks.
Hi Dale. here it is - spiked roller for self-leveling - amzn.to/2Y3YJLi
Nice thorough job.where do you get that straight edge and do they come in different lengths. I could use one for checking wall Alignments.

Very interesting video. According to building inspector in Perth, these are some helpful tips for installing self-leveling concrete.
Here it is:
Read and follow the manufacturer's instructions. Don't skip any step
Keep leveler product dry.
Clean all tools and buckets immediately when you are done.

what the he'll are you smoothing that with? that's an old school screed bar not a smoothing trowel.
Do you use trowel for smoothing? I am not. I use it just for better spreading.

Hi, I tried to do the best, but It's not possible, sometimes. Sorry.
Sweep! no preparation then? Really poor practice
Show your practice and I'll learn from you.
MrYoucandoityourself ok show me where your mechanical preparation machinery for removing laitence is and I’ll give you a lesson in surface prepare and priming.
Adrian Ashby what is proper practice for preparing the concrete?
jaime alvarado you need to get a moisture test done, remove laitence and barriers to adhesion using mechanical preparation like contained shot blasting or similar. that needs to be vacuumed too. if the moisture content is too high an epoxy DPM should be applied before any self levelling and the DPM needs to be primed too. typically an epoxy primer sand blinded to refusal. If the floor is heated that's a whole other discussion about commissioning.
