It's better in its own way, but the original is better when you want that simple, light, upbeat vibe. Two sides of a coin. Can't really compare.
I love how the song represents everything brilliant about the Brady Bunch movie. Respect the original while giving it some friction against modern times.

Jonathan Garza well theyve done so many remakes, so i think allowing the original performer/s to join in on a new version with a new performer would be a new and interesting approach that could become trendy.

Wanna feel old? It's now been a longer amount of time since this song/movie came out, than it was between the original release of this song and this rerecording. "Girl' was released in 1971, The Brady Bunch Movie (1995), so a span of 24 years. The Brady Bunch movie is 25 years old now.
28 and counting. Just watched it for the first time in years. Still a lot of fun. I can still remember how much I laughed the first time I saw it lol.

There is NOTHING to be ashamed of when liking a Davy Jones or Monkees song. Those guys all had/have major talent. In fact, Micky ranks right up there with the best vocalists of all time and Mike Nesmith's a genius all around. If you want to check out some other kick butt Davy tunes, I highly recommend 99 Pounds off of the album Changes and You & I off of the album Instant Replay. Two great songs. On the softer side, his ballad I'll Love You Forever is absolutely fantastic. Cheers!

I think this is a perfect blend between 70s pop and 90s grunge. Really brings the two together well. I think it’s also an excellent parallel to how the Bradys are “out of touch” with the 90s culture in the movie.

I also think it’s a bit of a play on how the innocence of fun of the Brady Bunch can blend well with the modern world. Notice all the side characters who dig the Bunch and like being around them like how the band jams so well with Davey.
This movie aged like a fine wine lol I watched it the other month and it's even better than I remember

saw a concert and met him when I was 20 (in 2005) He actually kissed my aunt, my mom, and me 😍 He talked to my grandma on the phone 😍 he was wonderful. saw him again the following year but didn't get to meet him. he died 20 days after my mom did. her biggest crush ever. I feel sorry for my dad up there LOL. Singing Monkees since 6 months❤️ RIP Davy, you sweet sweet man

I think this one weird dude was named Jesse, and he won Mtv's contest to be their new V.J. MAN!!! Whatever happened to those days? Oh yeahhhhhhh, America became politically correct.

I thought this movie was hilarious when it came out in 1995 (20 years ago!). The concept was pretty cool imo - seventies TV characters living in a nineties context. Like the song, the essence of the show was same - just updated to suit the times.

Watched this movie for the first time in years today. :) I was just a little girl when I first saw it, didn't get any of the references. This movie is gold.
I am 35 and recently rewatched the Brady Bunch movie. It was so funny, loved seeing RuPaul and hearing this amazing song again. I have added this to my daily driver playlist and have listened to it over and over! Such a bad ass guitar playing all swirling around with a pinch of grunge and a dash of 70s glitz and the combo is 🔥

I loved watching this before I realized the band switched it up on him. Davy Jones has always had a huge fan base. The original and this remix of it was amazing. I can't tell you how much I love this.

Too young to grow up in the time of the monkees and the Brady bunch series, the exact right age to see a monkee in the brady bunch movie :-) god i love these movies.
I think rock covers of songs just seem better than the originals. Can't say that of all songs but definitely most.
Because the original songs are often pop songs and lack power and bass. That's why the rock versions feel so much more invigorating.
