    www.revzilla.com/givi-trekker-...
    Getting to the heart of the Givi Trekker Outback Cases is simple, it is all about the ability to lock in and go anywhere, without hesitation, and know that your gear is secure in the very best. From the precision-made aluminum outer shells to the innovative Monokey Side Cam mounting system, the Monokey Trekker cases from Givi stand at the very top of the ADV luggage mountain. Simplicity of design and rugged durability through time are the hallmarks of the Givi design ethos, and they are both put on full display to the utmost with the Trekker Outback cases.

    Just as a note for anyone with the Givi PL or PLR racks, you can get the Kappa K-venture box, same box without the CAM side locks. Made by the same people, just without the CAM side locks.

    I bought a used 42l top case with dents in them, and I hammered it out with a rubber mallet and smooth it out a bit, can hold 2 paper grocery sack. I absolutely love them. They look awesome on my Honda reflex. Those little strap hook come in handy. I can't wait for the camping season.

      @@ananass8030 The pandemic ruin my camping adventure, so maybe this year I will find out-fingers cross. I am betting it will be a full reservation for camping as we are all yearning to get out more.
      But grocery shopping been much easier and I bought a custom bags that was made for this unit, which made it easier to make sure what I buy will fit.

    All that and you didnt even show how the top box goes on and off 100% why people are searching for givi videos in the first place is to see if a bow will fit an existing rack , or vice versa.

    For a BMW R1200GS Adventure do you advise using two 37L cases or one 37 on the right and a 48 on the left to compensate for the extra size of the exhaust? Thanks!

    • @RevZilla
      @RevZilla  Před 7 lety

      Both options can be done, but I recommend going with the slimmer 37L case on the right side and the 48L case on the left, since the right rack sticks out to clear the exhaust. You can see both options on the product page below. -DrewZilla

    Will these be worth the investment for strictly road touring? I'd like this design(Top loading, square, external tie-down points...) for my 17' Versys 1000LT. I won't be doing any off-road riding but I will be riding with a passenger. The weight of each side/top case is a little off putting, though. The stock cases that came with the bike are decent but there are no options for external gear lashing and the max load weight and volume are very restricting.

    • @RevZilla
      @RevZilla  Před 6 lety +1

      Givi does not make side case racks for your Versys 1000LT, so these aren't an option. Instead, you might want to add luggage capacity with a top case. That also has the benefit of providing a bit of a passenger backrest. Take a look at both Givi and Shad. -DrewZilla

    • @RevZilla
      @RevZilla  Před 6 lety

      It really depends on the specific model helmet you have. The 48L case is 12 inches wide, so if your helmet is less than about 11 inches wide, it should fit. -DrewZilla

    • @RevZilla
      @RevZilla  Před 8 lety +2

      +Muhammad Firman No, as long as you use the Givi cases with the Givi luggage racks, you should not have any clearance issues. -DrewZilla

    • @thefirstlayer350
      @thefirstlayer350 Před 8 lety +2

      That depends on the bike, the smaller bikes like the CB500X, if you use the 37L sides with a 58L top, you will have slight interference getting the sides open with the top box on. The lids must be pulled slightly outward to clear.

    I'd like to start with a Givi top case so my girlfriend can join me, but what about back supports for the top case ? Have you tried them, are they made from hard rubber ? ( it's difficult to see on pictures ) 2nd question related to riding with a passenger in the back ; is the Givi mounting system sturdy ( compared to for example Touratech gear ? ) Thanks.

    • @RevZilla
      @RevZilla  Před 8 lety +2

      +Dawn Moon I have a Givi Trekker 52 (non-Outback) top case with passenger back pad on my Tiger 800XC, and my passenger finds it to be comfortable. It's made of foam, similar to seat foam, so it's firm but cushioned. The Givi mounting system is pretty sturdy too. Touratech's mounting system might be slightly more robust. -DrewZilla

    Nice looking cases. I didn't hear you say whether these are waterproof or not? If so, have you ridden in the rain yet?

    • @RevZilla
      @RevZilla  Před 8 lety +1

      +Melanie Simpson We cannot call them completely waterproof, but practically speaking, the gaskets at the lid closure definitely keep the rain out. We still recommend you use lightweight dry bags inside the cases for items you need to keep dry. Because they're basically big buckets, we find that if it's raining and you need to open the case when stopped, a bit of rainwater can end up collecting in the bottom of the cases. Givi does make fitted dry bags for the Trekker Outback Cases. -DrewZilla

      @@RevZilla I have a set of these and they are definitely not waterproof when you get them! I used some self adhesive closed-cell foam house window weather stripping between the lid and the box and now they seem to be OK. At least in the rain they don't leak. The left box collects a lot of condensation when the weather is cool though (like half a cup over a five or six day period). I'm not sure what to do about that. Looking around the internet it turns out that GIVI says THEY ARE NOT WATERPROOF, but that you can use their special bags if that's a problem. The bags are actually really nice and you don't have to take the whole box with you when you go inside BUT: For the price of these things I'm really disappointed that they let water in! The last thing I need when I'm travelling is wet gear!
