- One of the most frequent questions I get asked is what is my favourite mens fragrance? It's a rather obvious choice and a brand that has a very special place in my heart. My family have been loyal customers to the world famous Jermyn Street perfumery for generations and in today's video I talk about why Floris of London is my favourite luxury brand perfumers.

This was simply brilliant! The Well done. I'm now a fan and subscriber. Since I'm a fragrance reviewer I have so many favorites and No 89 is right at the top along with the 1955 CHANEL Pour Monsieur! Scent of the day is Houbigant Fleur de Oranges. Cheers!
I'm a female - always used to use Floris' Stephanotis in my 20's and then they discontinued it. They have now revived it, but as a much more expensive eau de parfum. It's still wonderful. I also love the Seringa - it's like stepping into a field of lilacs.
I love wearing 89 although marketed towards men
Floris no 89 for me as well, though my influence came from Ian Fleming/Bond as I'm sure most peoples have. It is cool that you have those memories from such a young age with your family that tie you back to Floris. Loved to hear the history. Thank you for the great videos Governor!

Great video. I've just recently been introduced to the Floris line. I've purchased three bottles in the last month and have another on the way. My first purchase was Spencer Hart's Palm Springs. Can't wait for the weather to break so that I can wear it. Second was Leather Oud. Absolutely love it. I purchased No.89 last week. An incredibly gentlemanly fragrance. My Santal should be here by the weekend. Can't wait to get it. Honey Oud is on deck for next fall...........if I can wait that long to get it. Loved the link between your family and the Floris line.

I have only heard about this when you mentioned it in your videos so it nice to see a video about it. One should always test the fragrance on themselves to check for any skin reactions before purchasing. Cheers.

Awesome review! It's close to my favorite shaving shop in London, Taylor's of Old Bond Street.
Spot on! Amazing fragrance! The shave creme and aftershave are top, top shelf! If you've never tried Floris or Penhaligons you absolutely should! You'll never want to use any other shave creme again. Good call TGV.

I use a few different fragrances from Armani. Code, Black, Sport and Ultimate. I'll have to give Floris No.89 a shot. Great history on the company.

The perfume I wear at the moment is Bleu from Chanel. I found it in a perfume shop at the airport while I was waiting my plane and I fell immediately in love with it. (sorry for my english if I made i mistake).

Hi TGV My brother was given a bottle of a wonderful fragrance called Farmaceutica di Santa Maria Novella by an old friend.It's made by Italian Monks. Unfortunately whilst in China he dropped it onto a tiled floor and smashed it to bits. His apartment smelt amazing for a few days, but after a few days it was just a memory. Let me know if you have heard of it. Ps keep up your great shows!

I knew about Floris long ago being a James bond fan...but only recently ie ten years ago etc. I got myself one...of course the 89 as per Ian Fleming and his choice for Bond... excellent perfume...
My wife gave me a bottle of Floris 89 for Christmas. Originally formulated in 1951. I was born in 1951. Love this fragrance.
I think youd greatly appreciate Floris Honey Oud as something perhaps more daring then 89 yet remains a gentlemens fragrance. Acqua Di Parma Colonia Essenza is also an old school barbershopesque fragrance with a stunning citrus note and a gorgeous herbal drydown.

Hi TGV. You made me fall in love with the blue Squale. Is it the blue blasted or the ocean blasted version? And since I have heard you say in another video that age appropriateness matters, do you think that the blue squale is inappropiate for a 42 year old? Excellent video, I'll need to drop into Floris on my next visit to London. I was just on Isla di Elba on holiday and picked up some Acqua Dell' Elba 'Altrove' cologne, which I absolutely love. It's a very bold fragrance combining woody, Amber, leather and tobacco notes. My Wife has been wearing their ladies cologne 'Smeraldo' for a couple of years an loves it as well, which is more typical of many of their fragrance profiles with floral and citrus notes. These colognes are blended and manufacture right on Elba, which we appreciate as well.
I know I'm late in my comment, but I do so love La Nuit de L'homme by Yves Saint Laurent. When I spray it on I swear every time I think, Tristano would love this. Lol. It is very classy and has a spicy sweet smell to it that screams sophistication. Have a great day sir! Donning my Messerschmitt Flieger today.
Floris' packaging is really quite elegant! I recently discovered Floris Santal Eau de Toilette. Amazing fragrance!

Thanks for the video. Will have to check out Floris. I was in London last May and made a point to visit Penhaligon's. I love their Endymion. Very classy, mysterious and very English. I also heard that Churchill was a fan of Penhaligon's Blenham Bouquet. Thanks again, TGV
I hadn't heard of this until a couple years ago when a friend introduced me to it, one of the best parts about these fragrances is the fact they're not sold everywhere which makes it so much more special.
I started out with TF private collection, but now every second person is wearing it lol.

I have never had the chance to smell any of Floris fragrances as where I live it is not sold at all (I assume). I have just checked their page and they do have a very good coverage of shipping locations. I should give them a try. My go to fragrance now is CK's Obsession. I fall in love with than after the first sniff...
never tried Floris. i am still a huge fan of Creed Green Irish Tweed. might need to get a sample of 89.

Davidoff's Cool Water is a decent (if a little artificial) version of it on a budget.
Creed green Irish tweed is pure class, it's my dressy scent. A very mannish smell that my wife would never share unlike my Tom Ford. You are on point.
Hi TGV... This is the first time I have heard of Floris. May have to give this a try soon. One of my all time favorites is Davidoff's Cool Waters. This a soft fragrance that is not very strong and a heavenly scent. Your videos are top notch and useful.

Great choice TGV. My local stockist is Burgins Perfumery in York (established 1880). I had a spray from their tester when I was last there. I hadn't put 2 and 2 together, but No. 89 is named after Floris's address - 89 Jermyn Street. I thought it was their 89th attempt at getting it right, rather like WD40!

Well, nothing quite as refined from my family; Aqua Velva for my father and Old Spice for my grandfather. I've used both, along with Brut, Jade East, British Sterling, Dante, and Catalyst Eau De Toilette since my wife bought it for me back in the '90s. It's amazing how long a few ounces can last if you don't douse yourself like a French tart. I remember my grandparents having a small bottle of 4711 that my uncle brought home while in the navy. I loved that stuff, and think I will procure some myself.

I'm sure I have mentioned this on the facebook page but one of my personal favourite fragrances is the bleu de channel eau de parfum very masculine fragrance it only requires a few sprays but it goes a long way! I think I like it more for the fact not many people know of it and that it's price often puts people off it but it's worth every penny. another signature fragrance is Versace Eros. just like the channel one is a very powerful and captivating scent that the women love 😏 also TGV what is the ml size for this bottle please, I think I will have to try this as I am looking for a new signature daytime fragrance thank-you for your diverse and entertaining content once again!

Now I have to check out Floris. Thanks for the tip! I am quite fond of Bvlgari Pour Homme Soir, which is described as a woody floral musk, featuring papyrus, amber, darjeeling tea and bergamot scents.
I like Armani Acqua di Gio, but find that in my office environment fragrances are frowned upon. Given that my weekend activities are mostly outdoors, I sadly have little occasion to wear my preferred aftershave. Someday again, perhaps. Thank you for yet another great video. Best-David
Floris actually have am online sale at the minute, some shaving bowls are reduced from £35 to £15 as they are updating their packaging to a more modern design. I just bought JF and Elite with the wooden bowl and a no89 refill puck. Whichever scent I favour I shall pick up the matching EDT.

My favourite fragrance is "Le Vainqueur" by Rancé. Dedicated to Napoleon by Francois Rancé in 1805. It's a fresh but cautious fragrance made only with natural ingredients.
But I'm going to test Floris No. 89. It sounds promising.

I've never tried the Floris but my favorite fragrances are: Thierry Mugler Angel Man (sweet cigar smell), Bond No. 9 (citrus smell), and Chanel Allure (sporty smell). worthy nominations include: paco rabane one million, versace dreamer, montblanc individuel, Dior sauvage, and creed Himalaya but i feel these are a bit too overused now. these are just some recommendations for you TGV.
Never worn cologne before, but I might have to check out their shaving soaps.
EDIT: What can I expect from the 89 scent? From the description it seems like it may be similar to sandalwood but a little more earthy. If that's the case I might like it. I'm not a fan on the more citrus and floral scents.

Trumpers extract of West Indian limes, is my fave.
At the moment mine is Mont Blanc legend, but I my go into town to check them out I have always wanted to go to jermyn street there are so many great established shops that are based there.

Ooh. I'd love to try some of those out. Mix up my scents a bit.
I use fragrances sparingly so one of those bottles should last a good while. Unlike some people I meet I believe you should be seen before you can be smelled :)
tgv regarding your brown squale 1521 and blue 1545, if I understand right they are 40 and 42 mm diameter respectively. you mention your skinny wrists I am in the same dilemma my friend. how many cm is your wrist? I've seen your vids and neither watch looks overly huge on you. I'm this close to an impulse buy on a squale but worried on size. awesome channel

Give Givenchy Gentleman a try. It's a mature man cologne. Don't overdo it, just a hint. It tends to keep all evening. I have not tried Floris myself. Looks like they have many choices. Perhaps next time I visit London.

BTW, Givenchy Gentleman is separate and different from "Givenchy Gentlemen Only". Confusing, I know...
Also, just looked on Amazon, and apparently there were a few vendors selling knockoffs of the aforementioned Givenchy. Buyer beware...

What a coincidence...I saw your video on Saturday and Sunday I happened to see the You Only Live Twice. I was surfing between the channels and it turned out on that channel they broadcast every Sunday a James Bond movie.
As I know Bond's perfume was never mentioned in the novels. Other beauty products, like hair conditioner, soap, were named, but not the perfume. Floris No.89 is linked to Bond as it was the favorite of Flaming's.
Even Trumper's Eucris was mentioned in the novels, but not as Bond's. Do you happen to know that fragrance?
The Eucris shown in the Bond movie was a hair product, not cologne. Geo F Trumper didn't come out with a cologne until much later. And of course the Floris no. 89 was a documented favorite of Fleming's, but was NOT tied to the Bond character directly in novels or movies beyond that indirect association.
Another home run. Love it. Pure class. Green Irish Tweed. Dior Homme Intense. Aventus. And the one fragrance to rule them all, La nuit de l'homme by YSL.

I used Lacoste Red Pour Homme a good while. Smells insanely good imo
It's not that special, but I've been using Ferrari fragrance for years :) Bought it a couple of years back for the first time since I'm a huge Ferrari-fan and it smelled amazing! So I've kept on using it throughout the years.
Fabulous fragrance. I also like JF from Floris.
Spicy with woody undertones does it smell anything like burberry brit ? check out Versace Eos, Acqua Di Gio, D&G The One

I use a shaving soap like that with a badger brush and safety razor. Unbelievable shave.

Interesting ! I just sent for a sample of 89 a couple of days ago, then did a search of your vids, and hey presto ! ... You probably know this, but for £4500 Floris will design a bespoke fragrance to your personal tastes. It's a lot of money, but then so are Rolex watches :) All the best...Jools
Interesting. The men in MY family tended to smell of suds oil, weld fume, diesel, petrol, Swarfega, P38 body filler, Grants whisky and Player's No.6. My Mum used to take me to Woolworths to buy her scent.
I try not to brag about it, though.

Actually penhaligon created Blenheim bouquet for winston Churchill . Their juniper sling , opus 1870 and Endymion blow everything out there out of the water in my opinion
