Making A Tune With The Adam F Circles Break - DnB Break Production

  • The Adam F Circles break, more recently heard in Pink Pantheress - Break It Off (prod. Adam F Circles) and the Pola & Bryson Bootleg of the original Adam F tune, is an alternative break to the Amen Break. Adam F Circles is one of the most iconic, well-known and well-loved tracks in Drum & Bass history. In music production, especially in DnB / Jungle, breaks are a fundamental staple for any song. By taking an iconic piece of music and reverse engineering it to discover the origin of the break, we can then use that break in our own music.

    Really good video, Becky! Everyone knows the Amen, but I actually wasn't terribly familiar with the Adam F Circles break--a shame given that I use a tracker, which excels at chopping up breaks. I'm going to be playing with this break now and experimenting with all this great information.

      Thanks mate! I hadn't actually used this break before either. Always head straight for the amen, think or hot pants... really good to experiment with new breaks. Thanks for the comment.

    Love messing with old breaks. I'm always trawling whosampled for inspiration for samples and breaks. Humpty Dump is another good one, used in one of my fav tracks by Dbridge and Vegas - True Romance

    Nice video Becky. I wonder why did you decide to add side chain creating anoher channel rather than just adding a sidechain to the existing kick channel?

    • @BeckySaifMusic
      @BeckySaifMusic  Před rokem +1

      Good question! You'll see that I make the sample shorter than the original one. That means that the duration of the signal into the sidechain is shorter than the actual drum. It allows for more control of the sidechain with the gate plugin. If you used the entire sample to trigger it, you have less room to shape the overall open and close of the sidechain, as it's dependent on the longer signal.

      @rusty6813 Před rokem

      As a side benefit to the way Becky did it, you don't have to wait on your Kick (or whatever you sidechain to) to finish before the Compressor kicks in. Personally, I make very VERY small little blips on a seperate channel so the the ducking occurs almost immediately. The way Becky did it never occured to me. Great Vid!
