Are elongated legs always the goal as a tall guy in general fits? When/ how do cropped pants work best?
i find cropped pants work best with moderate builds // personally dropped pants isn't entirely my thing but best way to style those would be for simplistic outfits think of rhuigi's style for example very lux yacht owner type drip haha i think thats a great reference point for cropped pants

I am a tall dude (6ft 5) with thick thighs, and wider upper part as well. I look big in real life, but in photos, and from a far, I have kinda of a boxy look, and my height only shows when I am next to other people. What silhouette would work with me, and is there a way to emphasize my height and build in an outfit ?

try wide clothing, for example bigger pants or maybe wide trousers and more layers. it’s mostly up to your opinion. Also flared pants look awesome with thicker thighs and boots

If you're a husky or burly build I thoroughly recommend going for a '70s leading man' look. Think of a Burt Reynolds. Slim-straight or flared pants, with a proper inseam that isn't too short. Get some nice casual shirts. Embrace your build, don't try to hide it. Pop open the first few buttons on your shirt and show some chest hair, be proud. Get vintage t-shirts that fit slim, even if you have a little belly it works amazingly, kind of adds to it. Get a vintage denim-shearling jacket for the winter, jean-shorts for the summer. Converse sneakers and cuban heeled boots. At least that's what I'd recommend if you're not super heavyset, just built. I find burly guys really fit in that style, undoubtedly manly yet still put together.
You're never going to get your height to show like you want unless you're always comparing yourself to someone or something shorter in your pictures. It's just how it is. Most people look relatively the same size in pictures

Being a 6’3” and bigger dude. Anything marked relaxed, straight, oversize are your friend.
I have larger thighs (29”) and wear wide fit or straight legs and they look normal. I do have a smaller waist so i opt for pants with higher rises.
Tops i go cropped or normal length. Oversized or relaxed fit to balance the wider fit bottoms

If you are moderate & short don’t go for anything too baggy & if you are bigger sized & short just don’t go anything too skinny, don’t go too crazy with the baggyness either tho

Just to add, as a skinny guy with bigger thighs skinny jeans aren't comfortable for me lol. I'm not sure who skinny jeans are actually comfortable for
For the shorter (skinnier) dudes, stick to short and cropped uppers that are looser but not super oversized, straight or slim (not skinny) bottoms, with footwear with a platform. Keep it all monochromatic, usually black. Make sure you don’t wear more than two colors in an outfit to avoid severe blocking which makes u look short af. If you do make sure you layer it so that ur proportions are defined starkly.
For short big dudes, stick to a straight cut pant or a tapered pant. Keep it neutral. For the uppers stick to thicker sweaters rather than jackets. The thickness hides the lumps while keeping u warm with out excessive layering(which make u look bigger). For tees, aim for thicker t shirts with a bigger collar and oversized fit,(but if it goes past ur butt, size down). Keep it darker in tone(never wear white)
Personally i think jackets work very well at hiding the “lumps” just maybe stay away from puffers because it does make you look a bit bigger. But with wearing white I think It’s completely fine as long as you have a thicker t shirt.

didn't get too much into that but the promise is very much similar if you're shorter you want to give the illusion that your legs are longer by wearing high waisted pants and shorter tees a perfect person to use for reference is Jacob Keller love how he builds outfits for a shorter build

i think in general people love to tr and elongate legs from a fashion sense its always a part of the body designers love to focus on so any way to play into that and make it your own is a step in the right direction
