- Nominated for Excellence in Audio at the 2015 Independent Games Festival, Thumper exists somewhere between Audiosurf and F-Zero... except terrifying.

This is honestly my favorite game of GDC so far. Really psyched to get to share some footage with you guys!
"Makes you feel sweaty and weird." - Polygon
This is honestly one of the most visually pleasing games I've seen this year. I also love the intense gameplay style and the very hard-sounding noises that you get by completing different maneouvers.
Thumper while using VR would kill.
Hahah, that was my first question for them! The devs said it's theoretically possible, since all the assets in Thumper are three-dimensional - no 2D fakery going on whatsoever. -Nick
forget VR...ON DRUGS!
Yes!
Ricardo B How about on drugs with VR :D
+xyzRobinzyx stop b4 u hurt your self. *Gives you lsd and vr with outlast 2 sequel*...still wanna try this buddy? x)
Its a DMT experience made into a game and it looks great
STOP TALKING AND LET US HEAR THE AUDIO.
felt the same way
Saw this game at a demo in NYC in a venue w/ a serious sound system and can testify - the audio is incredible.
any chance you could talk a bit more, i almost heard some of what was going on in the game
You goddam right. A gameplay about a rhythm game, and the guy just keep talking. Seriously??
guess that's the sweaty and weird thing going on
I've been waiting for a game that will make me feel sweaty and weird
You had me at "Former Rock Band developers."
Wish that I could hear more of the game.
Wow. This looks absolutely amazing. I need to play this game.
Tron:Legacy meets F-Zero meets Rock Band meets Rhythm Heaven?
is this DMT the game?
Intense, timing, graphics, presentation, story, special effects all are gorgeous and amazing
Smooth gameplay, my favourite
Guys- I have come here again to congratulate you on taking this genre to the NEXT LEVEL!-
I AM SO IMPRESSED BY THE CONTINUED DEVELOPMENT OF THIS PROJECT- YOU HAVE OBTAINED THE LEVEL OF SURREALISM, I HAVE BEEN CRAVING!.........
This is a TRUE WORK OF ELECTRONIC ART!-- MUCH RESPECT!-
Wow I can listen to that audio for a good while.
This was almost the final game. They were working on this right up until release.
Wow this looks insane! Can't wait to see what else they have in store!
This looks great...but can it make waffles?
Metallic Cockroach?
Interesting to see how the game used to look and sound compared to how it looks today.
spectre900 true
Looks awesome. Thanks to Polygon for being the only journalists in gaming bringing us new materials instead of refactored click bait.
Played this at Bit Summit last year. Got my heart racing. One of the only demos I was determined to finish.
One Finger Death Surf.
Looks like a prettier, more terrifying audiosurf.
Literally looks amazing. Very unique art style. I love how metal it looks. Literal metal. it also looks like it has a weighty kind of feel to it. Most rhythm games always seem to be more loose and about moving fast. Its a rhythm game, so I want to play it. They say anything about possibly having a mode that might go with your own music?
Very excited for this game. Love that they reference F-Zero
Buying this as soon as it is released - Amazing!
visuals obviously fantastic, but listening now with a subpac I must say the audio is some surprisingly proper electronica: aggressive & well produced with good power in the low end. no trancey/edm cheesyness here
This looks a bit different from the build I played today at BFIG (Boston Festival of Indie Games). Which was _five minutes of sheer unadulterated awesome,_ by the way. In case this guy didn't get to it in the video (paused it to comment), it's made by a guy who used to work in the building next to the Walgreens I worked at last winter, which so happened to be Harmonix. He was tired of rock/pop stuff in rhythm games and wanted something more physical. And dear GOD does he nail it.
Thumper is super legit!.. Its my Wii Sports (82m copies/still play it today 10yrs later) VR experience right now.
This game is pretty as hell
"Makes you feel sweaty and weird". I just bought a PSVR and I can say that both of those descriptions are apt. What a fucking cool game. I like it the same way I like Every Extend Extra Extreme, but this is far more intense. It feels ominous. like the bosses are what are generating the music.
Sweaty AND weird? I'm down!
Hey, any way to download the game (even any beta version) at the moment? Because I cant find anything... Or is it still developing?
+Venosis It's still in development! Due for release in 2016.
Sure would be nice if I could actually hear some audio of this game which got nominated for Excellence in Audio
Makes me think of the art on the band journey cover, just looks beautiful hope they find ways to expand this.
Where did you get the demo from? I've been looking for this beta demo version for thumper but i didn't find anything about it
this reminds me of rez...
Was going to say, Amplitude + Rez. Ultimate combo.
Matt Danuser I'm all for that. I love those games.
Matt Danuser Amplitude + Rez x Audiosurf to be specific.
Child of Eden meets The Shadow Games
Got to get this. Looks mental!
This is what Mario Kart looks like when you trip balls.
7thString how tf is this any close to mario kart
cool
Gunna trip balls to it on vr. Should be dope
does the full audio book commentator come with the game?
imagine this in VR! great concept and design wow
I've never wanted a high end PC. My low end PC does fine for the games I play, but when i saw this game and the minimum specs you best believe i"m building a bomb ass PC just for this.
I've played a lot of rhythm games about hitting notes to play a song such as DJMax Series, Patapon, and such. But this game looks more intense and requires certain level of rhythm catching ability. Kinda reminds me of another rhythm game "140". BTW, CAN'T WAIT TO PLAY THEM WHEN THEY'RE OUT!!!!
It's an on rails rhythm game. Very addictive in VR
when i looked this up i was hoping no one would talk so i could hear the game but ok
My god this...looks awesome!!!
LIGHTNING BOLT THE VIDEO GAME? OMG YES PLEASE
_Flip,_ that was amazing!
looks intense haha
The visuals were insane. Rhythm games aren't my thing but this looks cool. I really think its just a matter of time until indie studios start pulling ahead of these AAA studios....
It looks freaking cool
I need this.
Wow.
i played this game yesterday and i think it was good.
Can you release this video without the commentary? I REALLLY want to hear the audio on it's own
I played the demo today at Best Buy, it was so freaking cool! one of the most creative rhythm based games I ever played! check out the demo, you won't be disappointed
I need this game right now
Bought this a week ago, great investment!
I am down. Hell yeah.
Definitely a pretty game and I think it is so fast. I need it.
This is like Smash Bros. Final Destination: the game. Super dramatic!
Oh cool, they almost nailed down the look in this video. F-Zero Nintendo reference. 😊
I'm gonna play this trippin hard
So gorgeous!
This shit looks bananas. I want it
Am I the only one that thinks this will cause photosensitive epileptic seizures to some people? If I'm not mistaken rapidly changing of blue and red colour are one of the reasons for epilepsy.
+Kanade chan Almost all games have a warning on the box or otherwise that it may trigger epilepsy for those prone to epilepsy
fuck this looks awesome
Looks like a rhythm endless runner or something like that. Interesting.
Cool!
yey epilepsy!
siiiick
This trailer from a year ago looks /pretty/ different, any clue if the game widens out into that, or do you think it's just changed that much over a year and a half?
czcams.com/video/ZldpPwt-Owo/video.html
Is Polibybius HD
What a beautiful fucking game.
Thumber and FF15 is the only reason for me buying a ps4 this Summer, so far.
This looks very cool and reminds me of a concept I came up with about ten years ago, more than ten years ago even, that was actually very similar to this in my original idea, although sadly I never quite realised my idea as I originally envisioned it...but I did make this as my very first game which was about a 20th of the way towards realising my actual vision: itunes.apple.com/gb/app/izone/id434844051?mt=12
It's very rough around the edges and the sound is hard on the old ears lol
STILL haven't made the actual game I saw in my head all those years ago :-o
YEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS TURBOBLASTING SKRANNOS
cool
Would be nice to have a bit of the gameplay without commentary.
neato
Please come to ps4!!
LOL how are these graphics good? looks like an atari game
Good art style and good color scheme. The graphics are good. Not the best like he said but it still looks really good.
Best not to feed the troll.
herdondoozer it appears someone has never played an atari game before
it's simplistic. Simplistic is not Atari. Graphically it's amazing.
Get your console right
you're fucking stupid.
Dont try to halo say good things about thia "game"
It sucks
you talk a lot in a middle of a rhytm game.
Oh I see, like a gay Temple Run? jk, it's already gay so its more like JUST Temple Run. Round of applause for the "genius" from harmonix LOL
