See how easy it is to draw a realistic drawing with simple shapes in this lesson. We draw a shiny and reflective spoon with black pencils and white charcoal on gray paper. Learn how to simplify the subject so that all that detail translates in the final drawing. Use high contrast to draw a metal subject.

I give up!!! I signed up for your art courses in the membership! :) It is a terrific deal, and after watching your free videos for a long time, it is time to step up my skills. I also want to try different mediums that I am not familiar with. Thank you so much for all the hard work you put into making all of this happen.

Wow! As I was watching I kept expecting you to go darker with values, you didn’t! And I expected you, because as a newbie I would have, to have longer strokes. I learned a lot from this tutorial! Mainly, I need to slow down and layer more! Your spoon drawing, even as it wasn’t as dark in values as original, is absolutely stunningly realistic!
Very inspiring Matt! I wanna try!

Amazing channel! I’m grateful to have discovered your channel. I came across your Gel & Fluid medium video through the algorithm and thank goodness, lol. Do you have a video about acrylic brands? I tried searching through your profile but didn’t see one unless I missed it. What would you say is the BEST acrylic brand for cheapest price that gives the BEST artist quality? Keep up the good work, I’ve learned a lot here.

Is there any way I can use a white paper instead of toned gray😅

Do you means 4B black pencil means charcoal pencil?

So very well explained! Curious as to why in some areas you choose to use a 6B but then other dark areas using the Lumograph Blacks which I think are carbon? Also what pencil sharpener do you recommend? Definitely want to subscribe after the holidays are over. TY.

What are you using for the white contrast? I'm tried white charcoal from some no name co. White pencil crayon from staedtler... doesn't make a mark. Advice?

Oooo, this one looks hard! What a fun challenge while I'm stuck at home in covid protocol! WOULD IT BE POSSIBLE SOMETIME TO EXPLAIN THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE TORTILLION AND THE BLENDING STUMP IN CREATING EFFECTS?

Thanks. I've drawn knives of various sizes and shapes, but not spoons. Off to find one in my collection.
