  • A new visitors’ center is open near the historic Mesa Arizona Temple in Mesa, Arizona. Elder Ulisses Soares of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles dedicated the Mesa Temple Visitors’ Center on August 12, 2021. The new center was designed with youth and young adults in mind.

We were married in the AZ Temple 46 yrs ago. My childhood years were spent in the 🏜 Desert SW. , many fond memories from there 💕

I remember walking the grounds as a child with my family, smelling the flowers, admiring the cacti in the garden and enjoying the beauty and peace of the temple. So excited for this visitors center and upcoming rededication!

What a wonderful opportunity! I love how people can choose to sit and reflect on spiritual insights or write their ideas to spiritual questions about the Gospel of Jesus Christ and His Holy Temple. 😊❤🕊🙏⛪✝

I loved going to the old vistors center. It made waiting for those who were in the temple easier to do before i got my temple recommend. I wonder if there are films about the church there still. Also will the christmas lights and the nativity display still happen? We would drive four hours each Christmas time just to see both.

The Nativity was quite unique at the Mesa Temple when we lived there almost 35 years ago! I share your desires for this to be continued!
Also, the Red or Christmas vending machines have been so popular in Salt Lake and other locations even through the pandemic. It is my hope that more of these unique vending machines are added to refurbished Temples.

It’s part of an initiative the Church does during the Christmas season to promote charitable giving. The vending machines are filled with things you can buy for someone, whether that he a meal, two meals, a wheelchair, or even a goat if I remember right. When you purchase the item the money goes directly toward that thing. You don’t actually get anything from the machine but it’s actually pretty fun. We went to the one in downtown Gilbert last year, I think so far there’s only a couple throughout the world but hopefully more

Ojalá todos los países tuviesen un centro de visitantes, siento que aportan en algo a conocer la iglesia, la hacen más cercana y amigable.
Ahora al tener los templos un poco más cerca, puede ayudar a que más personas asistan.

You used to drive down main street and see the giant Christus from the street, with the temple behind it. It drew people to it and Christ seemed to be the center. The visitor center was on the temple grounds so people would naturally go in to get information. Now the visitor center is off the grounds, there is no Christus. Why they think anyone is going to seek out the visitor center or want to return is beyond me. I found it to be more like a museum atmosphere than a religious one and won't be going back or taking anyone I know there.

Why is the visitors center open on sundays? Is the church now making members work on sunday? I know things are changing but i never thought i would see this.

Visitors center in Salt lake is open on Sundays. These are missionaries that "work". They go to church before the shift.
Christ taught and healed on the Sabbath.

Hi Silver! The Sabbath is a marvelous time to do things that bring us closer to God. It is _The Lord’s Day,_ and doing volunteer activities to bless others is right in line with it. And of course, all who serve in Latter-day Saint visitors centers are unpaid volunteers. God bless you!

Non members of the church might go there on Sundays to visit. Where they might not go the other 6 days due to jobs and other commitments. Its a great way to introduce non member to the LDS church.
