    Just like my first time flying to the US, I was very excited to see so many different aircrafts and airlines.

    Excellent review! I'll be flying on the 788 next month from MIA-PHL in premium economy (6A.) This is a bucket list moment for me. You've got a new subscriber :)

    Nice video and description, we'll be on our first 787-9 flight in November, also to DFW.

    You can never get enough plane spotting Tom...a few familiar airlines there..Fiji..Cathay..Air NZ etc!! Lovely take off vision from LAX..looked a bit windy judging by the water below!! Great review again Tom and for an American airline a pretty solid product and it appeared you had the best seat in "Premium Economy "...I would say it was a better flight than United would have offered as they are possibly the worst airline in the USA !! Looking forward to your next flight !! Well done!!

    thanks for this video! I was going to travel in the same 787 premium economy last week from philadelphia to Dallas, but wasn’t able to due to self quarantine for coronavirus, so it was fun to see what it would have looked like.

      Sorry to hear your trip was cut short - it's a terrible time for our society, and particularly the aviation world. Hope you can fly again soon

    Only in the US will you be treated as cargo. Remember that according to US cabin crew unions, "cabin crew are there for safety, not service". I doubt that holds with many other airlines across the world. In fact from experience it doesn't. I landed in Munich 15 minutes after my connecting flight should have left, Lufthansa held the flight and transferred me between aircraft by limousine. All organised by onboard aircrew despite my economy ticket and no airline status.

    • @ThomasMackay
      @ThomasMackay  Před 4 lety +1

      Hahaha is that right? I must say the cabin service was very hands off. Not exactly warm or what I’d expect from Australian standards

      @nicholasmackenzie-rowe68 Před 4 lety +1

      @@ThomasMackay Yes, sadly it is. Not the same either here in the UK, even though it may seem so on 'certain' budget carriers you've probably heard of.

    • @jasongable3521
      @jasongable3521 Před 4 lety +1

      It is true that first priority for cabin crew is your safety. GLOBALLY. However most international airlines seem to be able to walk and chew gum at the same time, because they do it with a smile and outstanding service.

    Tom, at 5:27 you say the AA 787-9 is arranged in a 2-4-2 layout. It is actually a 2-3-2 layout.

    I cannot say AA is a good airline if you do not get a complimentary meal on a 3 hour flight.

    Thanks for this - I’ve just booked an AA Prem. Economy flight for a long-haul flight back to the UK.
    Have you ever flown with Ryanair in Europe? That’s the ultimate in commodification of air travel. Ryanair is: a) arguably Europe’s largest airline (in terms of international passengers); b) very profitable; and c) Europe’s most hated airline!

    • @ThomasMackay
      @ThomasMackay  Před 4 lety

      I have flown Ryanair once from London to Dublin! It was a while ago, but for a short flight, it was definitely fine for the price. Hope you’re long haul is to your expectations in PE! Thanks for watching 🙂

    Thomas,
    - Are premium econ seats more comfortable on Air New Zealand?
    - Does the premium econ section on Air New Zealand get better service, food, and etc?
    I may have travel Air New Zealand from Honolulu to Sydney (final destination) with a connection in Auckland NZ. I really enjoy premium econ seats on American. Also, do you have any video's of yourself flying premium economy on Air New Zealand.
    Thanks for all your advice!
    David

    Would you say it’s worth it to pay extra to sit in the premium economy cabin on a domestic flight?

    Confusing........did you fly premium economy or economy ? ; looks like premium economy, but meals should be included ......

    • @ThomasMackay
      @ThomasMackay  Před 4 lety +1

      Hey Jackson, thanks for watching! As I explain in the video, premium economy is not sold on this route, so my economy ticket got me a seat in the premium economy cabin!
