    Gary has sewn together in 3 weeks decades of knowledge I had but lacked its musical practicality.. I completely understand modes now.. I could’ve told you what was in each scale but it didn’t make sense to me why there were multiple scales/ modes. I didn’t understand emphasizing the root. Gary fixed that. I understand patterns now in a whole new visual way! I’ve been studying music now completely differently.. I really could go on!!.. Thanks Gary !

    Dorian always made more sense to me on the fret board to consider it as the aeolian scale with the only difference being the 6th is raised. In any minor progression that contains a major IV or a minor ii immediately think and explore the Dorian mode

    You're lessons are awesome! I've been practicing the modes for a few months now and I've been struggling to make them sound useful and musical rather than just going up and down the various scales. had the riff down before the lesson was even over! love your videos, keep up the awesome work you do! thanks!!

    Hi. I'm a guitar player that always learn little different things in licks ... learn ... and forget !!! ... that is the best thing to do when I learn something new ... it's a Jazz approach according to a famous guitar Jazz player ... I hear one song over and over and over .... and influences appear when it's time to play .... mixed !!! ... so ONE thing that brought me here is the software you use on your video .... it's AMAZING !!! just to seeing where it goes in the fretboard ... is just a choreographic way to get timbers out of the neck. My main REQUEST, of course, if you agree, is to ..... my heart is stumbling .... wait .... wait ... ok ... Can You "describe" tone-wise with this software ... just like all those videos you do .... the song So Excited (The Mocambo LIVE version) by the great SRV ???? Can you? Can You? ... My brain need food from this song ... you know ... those little details that make this song ... hard to replicate some SRV expresions ... I don't care the tone, I do care is his pure blues background ... in motion .... all at once. It's a book of HOW TO the whole song !!!!!

    Video is cool but not really helpful or explanatory, especially for beginners or light intermediates. Your first scale diagram says A Dorian Mode (G major scale). What does that mean? How can we find the A Dorian within the major scale? May seem self explanatory to you but others could use it.

    • @PowMusic
      @PowMusic  Před 2 lety +2

      thanks for the feedback! The Dorian mode is always the second mode of the major scale/diatonic scale, so the note A, is the 2nd scale degree of G major. So whatever the second note of G major is, would be the root of the Dorian mode that has the same notes as G major. In this case, A is the second scale degree in G major....so A dorian mode is the relative dorian mode of G major. Same notes, but different tonic...and therefore different intervals relative to the new tonic.

      Not all videos can be for all skill levels. Constantly catering to beginners makes videos overly long and handicaps intermediate and advanced players. Sometimes you have to help yourself in this world.
