WORLDS FIRST 6x6 UNIMOG WITH CANTILEVER SUSPENSION, CROSS RC EMO NT6

If you are familiar with Cross RC, you probably already know about the new Emo NT6 6x6 UNIMOG, it rivals the Traxxas TRX6, costs 1/2 the price (at least here in the UK) and in my opinion it is the best looking 6x6 RC Crawler on the market to date…
In my recent uploads I’ve pit this against a modified TRX6 and although it performed well out of the box, it was lacking in performance in several ways. The suspension just didn’t cut it, esc control was questionable on descents and the steering servo, although plenty strong enough, was just a generic RTR brand.
I gave myself a budget of £400 to bridge the price gap to the Traxxas and to hopefully boost performance to equal or even surpass a highly modified TRX6
Phase 1 was to immediately replace the motor and esc with a Hobbywing Fusion Pro, 2300kv system, the servo was swapped for a 35kg AGFRC Servo, some low down weight was added and and off we went to do some testing… The “upgrades” didn't make as big of a difference as I would have liked, the NT6 had the ability to nearly topple over when sitting on flat ground…… The suspension absolutely sucks!!! It looks like it’s been taken straight off the 4x4 NT4 (this is not a good thing as the rig is far too light to warrant the suspension setup) A downside of a budget RTR built using parts from the parts bin and not designed specifically for the job!!
This is where Gavin comes in…. He has an amazing cantilever suspension setup that he designed and fabricated from scratch using CAD and milling machines, not only is it a work of art, but its the only one of its kind IN THE WORLD…
After a few conversations, Gavin agreed to take a look at the NT6 to see if the TRX6 suspension he designed could be made fit the UNIMOG.. Unfortunately it wouldn’t…..
To my delight, Gavin was now hooked and wasn’t about to let such a minor detail beat him, so he went about designing and manufacturing a complete, one off, bespoke cantilever setup solely to suit my NT6!! 😃
After only a few days, Gavin and his wizardry had everything made and working enough to take for a shakedown…

Rigs look awesome.
Biggest improvement I noticed with cantilever is the tires don't "stall" or "hang" in the air when they are supposed to drop during flex moments. They just flex like they're supposed to.
I run cantilever on several rigs.
Definitely more pro’s than cons, and besides, they are so flippin cool to watch!!! 😎
Hello, I own the same NT6, and I am delighted with your suspension. Can you share 3D models of the fasteners and how long the shock absorbers are?

Pretty darn good, your really getting behind that NT6, and i do still regret the NT4, but might drop a HW1080 esc in mine see if its any better

Obviously need a little fettling but then again so does everything…
The Capra got a Hobbywing Axe system, servo, wheels and tyres and it wasn’t cheap to begin with, the Gladiator was the same, they mass produced these things, they are never gonna send them out as the perfect trail rig. That’s what the hobby is about, making something do what you want it to do. Same with the real 1:1 rigs 😃
How much do you want for the NT4 😜
Im best keeping the NT4, i would just lose so much on it, dropped the quickrun 1080 in and now low speed modulation is a LOT better and of course drag brake is now really sweet, will stick with it and see if i can fettle it into a nice rig@@TimsRcsurgery
@@rctraildriversuk-lone-wolfvide that’s the attitude!! Next best upgrade would be to sort the suspension with softer springs, then bin that radio and get something that lets you change EPA, Speed, expo etc, that really helps 😃
I just swapped out to my NB4 but not enough channels, so I just left the from diff locked up
already upgraded to a better radio mainly for more channels @@TimsRcsurgery

On the cross RC website the 6x6s do not seem to be listed. Do you know if it has been discontinued?
Not that I’m aware of.. but I know what you mean, when I look on Greens Models I don’t see them, but can find them when I search for the exact model 🤷♂️
so where can I contact your man Gavin for a set of cantilevers for my trx6
He done these for me as a 1 off but they have shown quite a bit of interest, I’ve been chatting with him and he might do a limited run, but he’s not convinced it’s worth the hassle at the moment. Leave it with me and keep an eye on my Facebook page, I’ll put a post up if he decides to make them 😊
