Anyone else listening in 2024?
Me
no
Yes ❤
You bet I am!
yep
I was the video recording engineer for this concert at the Atlanta Civic Center in 1977. After the show, Linda and her band knocked on the door (!) of my little tape truck and asked if they could watch the tape, so they and I sat together and watched the show. Linda is so unassuming and such a beautiful person. I remember talking to Don Grolnick, the piano player, who played the show with a broken hand. It was a great show, and a great memory for me, but I never thought this recording would live on 40+ years later.
What an awesome memory
Wow. Something to be truly cherished!
Thank u for ur contribution. 👍 we, the younger gen. are able to catch glimpse in the past.
I had a Crush on Linda in the 70's. Ironically, I was watching Roy Orbison when this came up. Played Roy & Linda for my Wife and she understood my THEN Crush...
Awesome story and awesome work!!!
"There are two kinds of men in this world. Those with a crush on Linda Ronstadt and those who never heard of her." - Willie Nelson.
Huh
I worked with a young lady in her late 20’s who looks just like Linda Ronstadt
There are two kinds of men in this world. those who are blinded by her looks and those who are deafened by this song.
I had a crush on her when I was a teen and love this song
@@rinkinkel So you came to the video for more?
Still listening in 2024 to this beautiful and timeless song!
Me too still listening to this song today March 19, 2024,. This is one of my and my sister's favorite songs. Sadly, my sister passed away in 2019 at age 90. I am now 81, the youngest and only living one among six female siblings.
She is an amazing singer, the emotions are always spot on, fabulous!! ❤❤❤ 21/3/2023
Oops, 2024 😂😂
We had the best music back then I truly miss the great music we had
cheers, same here
Wow....this memory is still fresh in my head. I was the drummer
THAT IS AWESOME! Were you on tour with Linda or just this concert?
A fab memory to have 😊
Whoah! Ur a legend!
Me too! 😮😂
Great job,I'm listening
Linda and Karen Carpenter 2 of the most beautiful voices.
RONSTADT's pipes were glorious. Carpenter( yuck) was a sour note square who sang cornball love songs with her brother. Why would anyone compare them?
@@beauxlee3378 was thinking the same thing, lol
@@beauxlee3378 because she had one of the most beautiful voices in history. It wasn't mu cup of tea either I was a ABB CSNY Neil Young Zepplin fan but that voice of karen.
@@lia-in3cv forget the song listen to the voice.
I am a Chinese and I could listen to her songs for hours and understand the words without looking at the lyrics. I tried to watch Taylor Swift’s show many times but I can’t finish the whole video as the words are not clear to me. Taylor is powerful I guess it’s too loud the music is louder than the voice. Love Linda!
❤
If this isn't played at my funeral, I'm not going !!!!¡!
That's funny i don't care who you are!
😂😂 hope you won't mind if I steal that one day !
You'll be there for sure!
@@southafrica73 no! I won't
Yep
This was my mom’s favorite song. We lost her 2 years ago today. As she was about to take her final breath, I played this song for her. I miss you so much, Mom!
mine too ❤, i use to get embarrassed when they play it all the time, now im singing 😂🤣🤦🏻♀️
I hear you and I'm sorry. It was one of my Dad's favourites and I lost him a month and a half ago. I play this song from time to time with a pic of him and I feel I connect with him this way somehow. Hope it gets easier for everybody. Regards!
Saludos desde México ❤❤
RIP Mom. ❤
Beautiful
One of the most beautiful songs ever written.....oh it shouldn't matter but I'm a six four year old black man.i love Linda she's the bomb.
Pure talent. Love her voice in 2024!
I wish she was my baby mama and I'm a black guy.
She has one of the purest voices I’ve ever heard.
Only 1 person can sing this son, Linda.
Serious business friends ! It's time to petition the Country Music Hall of Fame to induct Linda Maria Ronstadt while she is still with us. She highly deserves it. Get her in there with members Dolly & Emmylou to complete the Trio while she can enjoy it. Sad that she wasn't there 20 years ago.
Back when singers had real talent
Singers always and still have talent. What consumers decide to pay for varies
Here in Tucson, client tells me he was a plumber 1980 and was at a house doing his thing and the lady of the house says "Oh, you like my daughters music" he was singing along to music in the background. Was Linda's mother and he was blown away, He has since passed away. Personally saw her in early 1980's in concert. What a special moment.
Linda Ronstadt had the voice and this was HER song. Glad to have lived at the time this musical genius lived, and "Blue Bayou" became a song.
She does absolutely incredible job but Roy Orbison still did it a little bit better. His voice is so haunting and beautiful.
I think this song was written by michael nashmuth of the monkeys

Ca b vionrs de mi padre@@Nipit-po8fl
@@Nipit-po8fl No, it was written by Roy Orbison and Joe Melson, and first performed Roy who had an international hit with it in 1963.
That voice 4 octave range is something else.
damn am i the only one guy from 2003 who listen 80s and 90s song in 2023
Aahh, No!
possibly the best singing performance ever.
To all you young people out there: This is what true musical talent looks like.
I loved this song the first time I heard it on her album, but it takes on so much more meaning since I lost a good friend recently. RIP, Susan.
What about Alisan Porter?
YES!!!!!
AMEN
That’s some old-people shit talking right there. This is a great song, but way to disregard the younger generations.
Linda Ronstadt is simply gorgeous ❤. Smooth as chocolate.
whatchu tryna say? that sound raciss
The era where music is PURE...
Computers & Autotune ruined Music. It’ll never be this good again.
Her voice still melts me. So amazingly powerful.
No auto tune, no back up dancers, no flashy lights, no twerking. Just good music. I wish we could go back in time
Yes!!
Just the purity of that amazing voice like no other.
Your so right
Yep . . . That’s why I keep coming to watch and listen.
U bet, as in Susan Boyal " I dream a dream"
Patsy and Linda. Two best female singers of all time.
Don't forget Karen Carpenter
2023 here because of my grandma ❤
The Lord Blessed Us with Linda.
I can die now. I've seen and heard the most beautiful thing that ever existed.
Loving the fact that I'm old enough to appreciate stuff like this.
We've had amazing music to get us through
I agree
My 14 year old granddaughter loves this song. ☺
The last of US Ep.3
No , Long Long Time
That's what I like to call lightning in a bottle
Greatest female singer as far as I'm concerned.
And Maria McKee (Lone Justice)
Linda's voice mesmerized me from the first time I heard her. The strength of her voice grabbed me and still hasn't let me go for over 40 years. Love her as always.
Beautiful voice❤
I’ll never forget, my 11th or 12th English teacher talked about how “Where those fishing boats / With their sails afloat” was a metaphor for seeing the sail, but it representing the whole boat. 45 years ago. Mr. Brimhall had a huge crush on Linda Ronstadt.
🥰
we all did
Mr Brimhall had good taste 😊
Ah yes, metonymy.
The world has lost one of the best voice EVER. Still got a crush on you.
Love her. Greatest voice ever. Charming person. So sad that she lost the ability to perform. God Bless you Linda.
Linda is linda always the best
This was my dad’s favorite song. He was 50 in 77 and I was shocked he liked Linda ..
She could really sing and was realy cute - not hard to figure out
Whoever sees my comment I hope you happy life. Only if you knew how important you are to the world
Who’s here after hearing Selena Gomez bout to play her in biopic?
i called it about 10 years ago in one of these comments … so glad it happening
Selena's a bit curvy for the part but certainly talented enough. I love Linda and always have. Such a force, especially back in the Day. I just hope all the time and expense works out ❤
Doesnt need a half naked costume, dramatic move, or a spinning stage, just give her a mic, a great band, she give you back a wonderful music with her beauitful voice, what a great great great singer, Linda
Amen!!
@@mikeledee8786 Yes! You so nailed it! Too much 'music' now is all theater and no real talent or originality. There was SO MUCH TALENT in those days!
You got that right.
Amen. Those were the days.
And feminine!!!
LOVE AN LIGHT
The Michael Bolton of her day! Got famous doing cover songs!!!
Blue Bayou + linda Ronstadt = Perfection.
AMEN !
Go find the Roy Orbison version of this. He wrote it. He sings it like he's bored out of his mind and wants to get rid of it the first chance he gets. He birthed the song, but Linda picked it up and adopted it, raised it into a world-beating celebrity of a song. It's like it was born to be her child.
I disagree -it’s a toss-up between them -both terrific
Woaaaa!……Nicely said.
I disagree. Roy Orbison did a fabulous rendition of this song. I love both versions but Linda’s just a little bit more.
Well -like -“that’s just your opinion man”
For a woman with a beautiful voice why so much hatred
It's absolutely amazing that the"Official Music Video" is a live performance, rather than a clip compilation set to the studio version of the song. But, if anyone could pull off making a live version sound as good, if not better than a studio track, it's Linda Ronstadt.
And this, boys and girls, is how you own a stage. No hype, no flash, just pure artistry.
Can’t wait to see Selena act as Linda
You mean J. Lo.
When she hits that last note...she loves me.
Back off, friend..
This is the favorite song of grandma before she died rest in peace😭
Who's still listening with me in July 2020?
Sorry, August 1st, but glad to be here!
Hands down the best female rock singer of all time. Her songs are timeless👍👍
She's one of my favorite singers of all time what a voice.
I listen too. She is Gorgeous / Aug 2020
what happened to her?
I read somewhere that when Roy Orbinson heard this rendition of his song it reduced him to tears!
Does that to me too, every time. The Steel solo gives me the shivers. I had to learn it, and did so within days of first hearing it.
No doubt about that.
I grew up as a kid listening to my dad play Blue Bayou on vinyl over and over again. This will always be one of my favorite memories and songs.
I read somewhere that the Flu was re-named and millions of sheep fell for it LOL !
She enchants
Even though Roy Orbison wrote this masterpiece ...Linda will always "own" it.
I don't believe that's possible. His version was great as well, and a big hit
No one can sing 'Blue Bayou' like Linda. She's one of a kind!!
You mean like Roy Orbison
@@thomascoburn5481 or like Norah Jones and M Ward (big fan of Roy's btw).
Sorry but I think Alisan Porter capped it too.
I have just seen a video ( from 2018) by a group called The Linda Ronstadt experience .It aint Linda ...but it sure sounds ( and looks) close to her .
Alison Porter is too nasal. Carrie Underwood...too loud, all belting, crap dynamics.
It was the summer of 76 in San Francisco and somehow I ended up in the front row gazing up at Linda and man could she sing. I hope she’s surrounded by love. She helped so many great musicians and she’s been such a wonderful person…..she deserves grace 👏👏👏👏
I love how you wrote this. You're an excellent writer. Imagine, forty-seven years ago you saw Linda, and you were able to paint the essence of that youthful night in San Francisco all these years later.
I agree with your opinion and sentiments. One technicality though... you might want to check the definition of grace. It's IMPOSSIBLE to deserve grace. Grace is unmerited favor bestowed. No one can ever earn grace nor ever deserve it. If that was possible, it wouldn't be grace at all. Bless you all. ;-) Peace out.
WOW, WHAT A AMAZING EXPERIENCE! MY aunt also saw Linda Ronstadt in concert in San Francisco. I’m so glad that I grew up listening to good music, thanks to my aunt & uncles as well as my sisters.
no one gives a shit about 50 years ago dude
@@Sherman350Dude, your ignorance is a historical milestone that others of your intellect have circled aimlessly and incessantly through the centuries. STFU.
to be cherished forever
Linda absolutely blows the original of this by Roy Orbison away no doubt ,one of my favourite songs ❤️💯
One of the most beautiful songs in history, and she OWNED that song.
Neither of them owned it but they both interpreted it in their inimitable ways. The versions are both great, just different.
Linda owned every song that she ever sang.
@Voracious Reader somewhere out therre
Beautiful voice but lousy politics.
She sure did
May 20 2023 Heard Linda Ronstadt sing this Blue Bayou on the radio working night shift In trucking, All my life was there in this song “Blue Bayou “ Tears we’re shed and Ronstadt delivered most beautiful song! She is absolutely great and one of best all time singers. Her words are clear and you can hear them.
They don't make timeless music anymore, with these so-called musicians.
Every guy wanted a girl like her. Still do.
Linda and band mates are truly timeless- it’s 2022- I’m 72 and still love this.

Super blessed!
Linda Ronstadt is in a class all her own.
Almost. She shares it with Roy Orbison.
You guys had cool music. I'm in love with this woman, hard to believe they used to make em like that.
Hello
great singer
Oooooo so beautiful
My mother (who died in 2000, 6 weeks after my daughter was born) just *LOVED* this song. Despite the opinion of the preacher, we insisted playing this song during the funeral in the church. Rest in Peace Mom, your son and grand daughter...
may you find peace love doesn,t stop
Amen 🙏
Goog on ya, She was the best ever, never caught, never beaten never to be overtaken
Hmmmm... is there any anti religiuos ancle?
As a former missonary & preacher, let me say it: F*** that preacher. This is musical heaven, and that preacher will never know how wonderful this is.
I was 12 years old when this gem hit the airways.
My parents had just divorced, and we moved to a new house/neighborhood/school system/...you get my point, and feeling disrupted. Always hoping my parents would reconcile and remake the family I'd hoped we could be.
These melancholy lyrics, singing about "going back some day", just hit home. 💪🏼😆👍🏼🎶🎶🎶🏡
Unbelievable
Happy birthday, Linda ❤
I get chills down my spine when she starts belting out the chorus. Such a powerful voice.
She's gorgeous.
Ditto...me too...
Truly---
Absolutely! The only performers who come close to her in this song attacks the chorus with genuine feeling and scoops perfectly the note "world" when she sings "and the world is mine." If you can't do these 2 things, then you can't even come close to touching Ms. Ronstadt!
Was so inspired by this, I decided to channel all the misery, pain, and suffering in my life to doing a sax cover of this dedicated to Ms. Ronstadt. Feel free to DISLIKE if you don't like it.

The dichotomy in the comment section of people who are genuinely just vibing to the music, loving it, and the boomers shitting on younger generations while also enjoying the music is just *chef's kiss*.
